well, i finally got to the point where the smokes didn't taste good so i had my last cigar on the way home from work on Jan 16 at 1am. so tonight it has been 9 days without smoking and it really wasn't too bad, just the odd twinge and i have put away 10 dollars a day for every day i havent bought any. tonight i come home from work and my neighbour who just came home from mexico had come over and brought me a package with 5 cuban cigars and one that has 4 cigars from mexico. what a bummer, i just know i'm going to get into them it will just be a matter of time. hopefully it won't put me back in the smoking trend again.

I was looking at a news article on the winnipeg free press site and when i wanted to forward it to a buddy i hit the email button and did the process for that. But i noticed all the other buttons on the top of the article, Twitter, facebook were there and i'm familiar with them but what is redditt and tumblr. What do they do and are they really different, if any of you computer gurus out there can fill me in, i'd be gratefull.

i also went with go-daddy when i did a web site for our unincorporated association and got the domain name registered too. i was quite surprised when they (go-daddy ) called me and offered all the help in the world for free if i was having problems getting things up and running. It was really inexpensive too.

well i haven't read all the posts in this thread i feel that i could respond to some of what i have read. one poster stated the mayors of most towns make $87,000 a year. in Northwestern Ontario, the only mayor that MIGHT make that would be the mayor of Thunder Bay. As a former municipal councillor, I can tell you the time involved in representing your constituents and various committee meetings easily take up 25 hours a week. A mayor up in our area makes under 15,000 and a councillor makes under 10,000. What the chief of Attiwapiskat makes is sickening when you look at the size of the community and the number of people on the municipal payroll, (and yes, i have been to Attawapiskat, I was the telephone guy along the James Bay coast for 2 years). As far as the Idle no more movement, If we attempted to block a driveway let alone a major highway, international port of entry, or mail line we would have our asses hauled off to jail so fast you'd be stunned. I got some more 3 word slogans for the people doing the blockades, "get a job" "no more handouts" "start paying taxes" maybe this would make the majority of Canadians be more sympathetic to the cause.

i've been looking for an ice auger and today i stopped at one of the sporting shops in town and the gas ones were around 469 to 549 and they had an ice auger that had a battery that was supposed to be good for 40 8" holes on 1 charge, it was the brand name of ION. never heard of this brand and it was 569. anyone out there have any experience with this brand, or electric augers and should i look at one or stay with the gas models?

i'm in for next year

when i do the midnight shift i come home and go straight to bed, sleep till 12-1230 then i';m up until 530 then back to bed until 1030. it seem to be the only way that found that works for me. the only thing is that my midnight shifts go for 5 days then i have 5 off. it seems that it takes 2 days for me to get back to normal and for my eyes to stop burning. BUT, i'm 66 and old bodies don't seem to adapt well as younger ones do.

my dad once told me that quitting smoking was easy, he'd done it hundreds of times. I'm in the same boat as you I should quit as the drs have told me i got copd. but it is going to take a lot of will power and perserverance. i quit many years ago and all i did was put away the cost of 1 pack of smokes a day, that was abot 5 bucks, at today's rate, i would be putting away 10 bucks a day and watch my money grow. I think this is the route i'll be taking, at least this way i can put money away for next season's minnows and boat gas.

just saw an article on the free press site saying that a Toronto area company was fined several thousand dollars and the owner was given 2 60 day sentences (served concurrently) for importing snakeheads. in the comment section one guy asked what do they taste like and another replied, chicken. just goes to show by their comments they think this is a joke and not a serious threat to the natural ecology

I use to have a 16 foot starcraft and had a 7.5hp on it. with todays new boat designs and heavier aluminum being used, i would go to a 9.9 to 15 hp to give you some power in the currents of the river

when i get into winnipeg i always go to pro-am tackle while the wife shops for her clothes. Bob, the owner always asks how things are going in red lake and asks about the fishing and how i've made out so far, he also realizes that since i've come from a 7 hour drive that he can give me a discount on items . i appreciate his business ethic and so far i've got my i-pilot motor there, a humminbird depth finder and my latest was an abu revo reel. there's nothing like being remembered by the sales people that brings you back.

i know the feeling only too well, after the walleye tournament up here last year where I couldn't buy a fish over 16 inches. the next day, i couldn't keep the 24 inchers off my line. MAYBE, this year will be different, LOL

Well today i went to the far end of our lake to try for the elusive walleye. After 4 minutes there i had my first one and as i was about to hoist it into the boat the little bugger got off. From the looks of it dangling on my line i thought it had swallowed the hook and when it got off i figured it would probably float up in a bit after being mortally wounded, so i started looking for a floater . A few minutes later i spotted a floater and i went over to get it and it was only about 7 inches long, so i figured it was something that had been tossed back and just hadn't made it. A few minutes later, there's another floater, so i checked it out and it was the same size as the first one. to make a long story short i trolled for about an hour in that area and counted close to 20 floaters, so now i was getting pissed at whoever would throw back these little guys, i thought were sauger. so just prior to moving to a new spot i went to see just what type of fish they were, they weren't the saugers that i had originally thought but looked like small whitefish. I started tofeel a little better about the numbers since they weren't sportfish that count toward your limit. In the afternoon i ran into our local game warden in the grocery store and told him what i found. He was quite concerned since he told me that a camp owner had reported finding 4 of these fish floating in his bay , he assumed that maybe they were incidental victims of a big fish attack. After hearing what i found he says this is very disturbing as it is evidence of a kill off of unknown origin and he will be taking this information to the resident biologist. He said they were probably ciscos and are a major food for our lakers and walleye. tonight my neighbour came over and said they saw some floating today when they were out and this was in an area away from where i saw them.....somethings going on so tomorrow i might go and grab a few for the mnr biologist to study.

the winnipeg free press just posted an article about an explosion at the Gimli docks. Evidently someone was fuelling up and when they turned the ignition on to start the motor, boom, a man and woman were transported to hospital with non life threating injuries. I guess this is a reminder to the people with i/o units to vent before starting.

a number of years ago I saw one cross the highway 105 around the Camp Robinson turn off. When i mentioned it to a couple friends they said they could believe it but I might have seen a panther and not a cougar. REALLY, they told me that a few years before i saw this animal a train had derailed south of that area and it contained circus animals, some escaped and were never re captured. then 2 years ago i was going into work for a midnight shift and one ran across the road in front of my truck and it was really motoring/. I initially thought it was a bob cat or a wolf, but it was just too large and i haven't seen a wolf with a 4 foot tail. when i told my co-workers this one girl told me her husband was out by our place checking on some forest fire damage and there was a cougar tracking him just inside the tree line and he was quite scared. the mnr up here have had several reports of cougars, mine included, and they readily admit they are around.

my wife and i are regular visitors to the Dryden area and she too is an avid quilter. it just so happens that the biggest quilt shop in Dryden is up for sale , not because the business is bad, the owner recently passed away from cancer and her sister who has been running it for the time being, is ready to retire and wants to unload it, so does the husband. for your information the name is AJ Fabrics and the phone number is 807-223-8700 . some one mentioned they only used a gallon of opti oil for 40 bucks. I got a 150 opti and i go through 4 gallons a year, and i'm only going 15 to 20 miles an outing. the cost of the oil per gallon here in red lake is $65.00/ but i have a buddy who brings me a few gallons every year up from cabelas at a cost of $36 per gallon. that being said, i wouldn't hesitate to take the opti.
