  1. my girlfriend thinks i'm stalking her, well she's not my girlfriend YET.
  2. I had the same problem and I referred it to my illustrious captain, Joey, who in her wisdom and with her contacts, was able to get the bonus points and put the link on my entry . just don't get why the ofah would stop the posting of pictures.
  3. As far as Eagle Lake goes, muskie opens the 3rd week of june and I fished the west arm over the opener . it was the dead sea. guys in the tourist camp next to our location were working their butts off and only getting the odd northern. our group got 1 walleye in 4 days. but the trout were biting. If you are planning to fish Eagle get in touch with limeyangler, he knows the eastend of the lake. and after loooking at some of his posts, he knows where the fish are.
  4. I have a 2003 ram and I just replaced the trailer plug on it last week. it was the 4 prong connector and you mentioned there was a 4 prong connector on yours too. That would lead me to think they have wired in the 7 pin connector and it is not a factory plug. Try following it back to where the joint is made on these two wiring harnesses and go from there. My 4 prong plug was completely rotted (or rusted) out .
  5. I discovered cracks in the sidewalls of my trailer tires when I was getting my boat out this year and I replaced the tires yesterday at Fountain Tire. the size was A78-13 and they told me that size isn't made anymore but they had a conversion chart to give me the correct size. That got me thinking as to the age of the tire, I guess they don't owe me anything since I realized they were over 25 years old. The cost for my tires with tax was $203. kinda cheap peace of mind when hauling my boat down the road.
  6. I'm heading to the annual meeting of the Eagle Lake Hookers Club in Vermilion Bay on Eagle Lake tomorrow morning/ As the original poster did his check list so did I. Friday morning should see us heading into Clearwater Lake for lake trout. Then on Saturday its walleye time. Those brewskis on the front porch of the cabin are going to taste great.
  7. the stuff you want is the fleet and marine seafoam. I don't pour it into the carb (since I'm a mechanical rookie as far as engines go) but I just put it in my gas tank and let it do it's thing from there.
  8. my American neighbour has a princecraft and it seems very capable of handling the rough water and he just loves it.
  9. I would suggest she contact the nearest Ontario Works office, they can provide excellent advice and provide emergency funding for the family. If the husband still has keys , change the locks and get a restraining order that should keep him away from the house if she feels threatened. (just my opinion). Notify the local police of the situation so they don't come to a domestic dispute unaware of the situation should one arise.
  10. i put one on my boat 2 weeks before I pulled it in the fall, I loved what it could do. the anchor program is very impressive. but withonly a couple weeks of trying it I didn't get to fully play with it. I'm picking up a couple new batteries to use with it (my old batteries are pretty well at the end of their working lives) and can't wait to use it again. I think it makes all other versions of the electric trolling motor obsolete.
  11. I know a guy I used to chum with (40 or so years ago) has a tourist resort called Fees Landing near the kawartha lakes, guess you could google it, he has had Charlie Wray up doing shows with him so the fishing must be ok,. I have seen the web site and it looks like a decent place but I don't know the travel time involved from your area. But take a look, it might be worth your while.
  12. I'm kinda in the same boat. We live outside Red Lake, on the lake in a house we built in 1990. To me it's our little piece of paradise but to her, it's the bush and she's sick of living in the bush and want to move to the city. I'm ok with that if I can be near water and have fishing close by, She wants to go to Winnipeg, I would prefer Kenora. Everytime something goes wrong health wise she says, " I hate this place, I don't want to live here anymore" We are at a stalemate right now so it looks like i'm going to have another summer of good fishing but I'm not looking forward to the winter months and her complaining, maybe next year will be the time to move somewhere. One thing for sure, If she isn't happy, I won't be either (she'll see to that)
  13. over the past week our lake has started to break up and the creek running into it opened up to allow launching boats. I got my boat ready to go over the past couple days but just couldn't bring myself to launch it. So I grabbed some ciscoes in town today and drove over to the boat launch to try for northerns. I set up and tossed in my line fully prepared to go home empty handed but an hour after i got the bait in the water, my bobber started moving away and I landed my first northern of the season. It was a 36 inch dandy, and I got ready to take it's picture only to realize i left my tape measure in the truck, so off I go and retrieve the tape, then i realized i left my OFC 2011 sticker in the truck too. by the time i got back to the fish, it was covered with grass from flopping around, Anyway I managed to take it's picture only to realize after i had released it and checked the picture, the tape had flipped over and the numbers were not showing. I reset my line and just sat down to enjoy a smoke, and the bobber took off again. This time it was a 38 inch northern. I took pictures of it and one of the tail measurement just to verify the length since the pictures don't really show the tape very well. So now all i have to do is figure out how to send these to JOEY for team 5
  14. I let mine freeze in the lake, I figure since the legs are hollow they have ice inside in the winter to stop them from being damaged and when it thaws in 10 years i've never had a problem even when the ice comes in on our bay,
  15. I got 2 cruise a days filled today in town with regular gas, 10 gallons = $66. then you add in 8.95 for the oil and 9.99 for the seafoam . Certainly isn't going to be a cheap year to run up and down the lake. I'm not looking forward to the 40 gallon fillup on my big boat.
  16. I'm jealous Simon, up here we are still full of ice and the open water is JUST making an appearance at the end of the bay, but I did bring my skiff down today and washed it out in the hopes I can launch next week.
  17. When I was growing up in Brantford we had a fish and chip store just up the street on Erie Ave and they made the best fish & chips, wrapped in newspaper, like all good and true fish & chips should be. After several years of trying every batter recipie I found this one to be the closest to the one I remember from my youth. 1 cup flour 1 teaspoon sugar 1 teaspoon salt 1 tablespoon vegetable oil lemon pepper to taste 4 tablespoons cornstarch 1 cup water (may need to add more to get consistency desired) 1 teaspoon baking powder dip fish in flour to coat then into the batter then into the hot oil
  18. you better give those guys on Canadian Pickers a call if you got more stuff to get rid of. might make a buck or two
  19. same thing happened to me, I got 2 14 foot skiffs given to me by a camp owner, both were going to go to the dump but I got them, banged out the bumps , fixed the leaks, replaced the bench seats and transoms and they became serviceable for boat caches. When I registered them I got my numbers and licence from customs and forgot all about them until the letter arrived wanting to knnow if i paid tax on one of them. So off I went and got a letter signed by the camp owner stating they were junk and headed for the dump so I didn't pay a cent for them. I sent this in to the tax people and they replied that this was fine. 3 years sfter that I got another letter wanting tax on the other boat. was I ever pissed, obviously these guys don't keep up with the paper work when it's filed and then expect all the documentation produced at their timelines. So once again I sent in a copy of the letter to them and after being sent 2 reminders that I hadn't paid the tax on the boats and 2 more replies with copies of the letter from the camp owner, the tax guys dropped their request for the sales tax.
  20. I copied the post and sent it to my MPP, Howard Hampton. He is such an opponent of the ontario hydro policies, just thought I'd give him some ammo and see what he comes up with. I bet they don't bill the power company they sell to the cost of delivery from site and the cost of delivery to consumer or any debt reduction either. probably don't charge hst either. Why bother the other providers when they can stick it to the little guys .
  21. loved it. sent it to some of my blonde friends.
  22. OH REALLY???? sorry but I just had to yell that. I went up this morning, uncovered my little boat, drained the winter water out of it, then went and got my box trailer so I could haul the garbage to the dump out of the neighbours garage, came in to have a coffee and get a wrench to remove the ball off the back of the quad so I can use the trailer, then I look outside only to see SNOW coming down. The lake is frozen solid, doesn't look anywhere close to breaking up, the weather guy is calling for +11 today, currently it's+3 Who's kidding who, spring isn't here in the northwest. and oh yes, the only birds calling are the ravens. no songbirds up here yet.
  23. yup I would also try to rethread with a larger bolt, but then again i'm not a mechanic.
  24. great job, I wish I knew how to do that. I tried a few times and never really got anything that worked. best I could do was put some pics on a cd.
  25. Each year my neighbour holds an ice fishing derby for his friends on the lake beside our houses. Each year (at least it seems like it) on the day of the derby , I have to go to work. Today was no exception. BUT the thing I can partake in after work is the pot luck dinner for the participants. The food is always great, lots of moose , deer and wild rice along with a couple beers, what could be better. So today when I walked in to his garage where the meal was to be held his parents said, "have the kids told you their news?" NO, we haven't seen them all week so we were in the dark. The kids, our neighbours just bought the tourist camp across the lake from us and are moving to the camp. Of course we are happy for them to embark on a new experience and we are really sad to see them leave our little subdivision. The next question is, "what are you doing about your house?" fortunately his mom and dad want to live on the lake and are planning on buying the house, so we won't be seeing any surprises with the new neighbours. The lake I live on is among the best walleye lakes in northwestern ontario and I know that Ian and Drew will do well at this new venture. Have a quick look at his website at http://www.fivelakeslodge.com and if you plan to come to the Red Lake area, they will put you on fish and make your trip a great experience.
