  1. I found this site from comments on walleye central. it looks really neat and appears to be well done. I would think if I were a camp owner/ operator, I would participate on it. give it a look www.realoutdoors.com/expocenter i'm not trying to promote this site , just thought it would stir some comments and maybe help someone with their summer plans
  2. google sunset country, that should give you some idea of camps that are in the area, if you want to head north of dryden or kenora, try the minaki, sioux lookout or red lake area camps. Each area has something different to offer, some have different fishing regs so you could compare the differences there too. ie: minaki has keep limits that may be different, sioux lookout has a no live well rule.
  3. I got just about the same thing from tbaytel.net a couple days ago and they confirmed it was a scam when i called them.
  4. i got an ipilot 80# thrust,60 inch shaft, last year, love it, it is the best motor i've had. definately the one to go with. it also has a universal sonar, but i just put my transducer on it( for a humminbird with side scan) with a hose clamp because i dont think the universal is designed for side scan.
  5. I turned 65 in October and got lots of letters from the government congratulating me on the big milestone. They also said i'd be getting my seniors card to use when I get prescriptions, well to date it hasn't arrived so I called service canada today and they informed me they have run out of cards. They said they have more clients than cards and were doing their best to get some. Only in Canada, where they have known since 1945, 1946 they were going to have a major influx of seniors in this decade would they allow themselves to be short of inventory. they told me to try and use my drivers licence as id when i get my prescriptions to prove i'm eligible for medicare.
  6. A golfer teed up his ball on the first tee, took a mighty swing and hit his ball into a clump of trees. He found his ball and saw an opening between two trees he thought he could hit through. Taking out his 3-wood, he took a mighty swing. The ball hit a tree, bounced back, hit him in the forehead and killed him. As he approached the gates of Heaven, St. Peter asked, "Are you a good golfer?" The man replied: "Got here in two, didn't I?"
  7. i signed on twitter to see what it was like and to keep an eye on dave mercers tweets, but i got a number of people who want to follow me, some women, some men, and they all wanted to do sexual things with me. I guess they were trolling LOL I only go on it once in a while now, I find it kinda hard to say anything in 140 characters. @elhreporter
  8. every musky I've caught on LoTW has been while fishing walleye, I know a few guys who spend thousands on musky tackle and spend hours hurling them into the shallows but that isn't for me. I get musky and pike by accident and they always go after a minnow and spinner. so,,,,, I would think that any artifial lure that is coloured along the lines of a minnow would be effective. I know a guy on Eagle lake that fishes musky in the fall by using big (10-12 inch ) sucker minnows so maybe something that looks like a sucker would also work
  9. Ole & Lena lived by a lake in Nordern Minnesota. It vas early vinter and da lake had froze over. Ole asked Lena if she vould valk across da frozen lake to da yeneral store to get him some smokes. She asked him for some money, but he told her, "Nah, yust put it on our tab." So Lena valked across, got the smokes at da general store, den walked back home across the lake. Ven she got home and gave Ole his smokes, she asked him, "Ole, you alvays tell me not to run up da tab at da store. Why didn't you yust give me some money?" Ole replied, "Vell, I didn't vant to send you out dere vit some money ven I vasn't sure how tick the ice vas yet."
  10. I used to have a stach for years, shaved it off one day and everyone told me it made me look younger. So I kept it off but since my dentures no longer fit and i'm gumming it until i get the nerve up to by another set (and potentially waste another $2000)I think i'll give the movember thing a try and see what it looks like again (too bad it's going to be grey)
  11. my wife got me one for my birthday last week and so far i've put 5 books on it , read 1 of them and i'm sure it is going to keep me very happy at work , especially the long midnight shifts. I haven't had any need to contact the customer service as it appears easy to operate
  12. don't you just hate it when your wife tells you she wants fish for dinner, so you BETTER get your butt out the door and go fishing?
  13. it never fails, you take the boat out when the winter winds start to blow and snow mixes with the rain, take it to town and get it winterized and today when i picked it up to store for the winter, the temperature is +10, sunny and the lake is like glass. so I took the 4 minnows i got hanging off the dock and tried for a couple hours of bobber fishing, nary a bite, but I know, if the boat was in the water i could go and get some fine tasting walleye STUPID WEATHER!!!!
  14. I was glad that you and Norma stopped by on your way home, it sure is nice to put a face to a name. Next year we will have to make sure you can cross "fish gullrock" off your bucket list. lets work on a date for that over the winter.
  15. I have a catalogue for Tomahawk Live traps. they are in Wisconcin and the owner is my summer neighbour. call them at 800-272-8727 or order on the internet at www.livetrap.com Greg, the owner tells me they are doing same day shipping. they show (at a quick glance) traps ;one is 36x10x12 for 85.39 ; pne is 321x10x12 for 64.73; another 42x12x12 for 100.28. hope this helps. Gregs a great guy and will help you anyway he can
  16. I don't know if any of you have the answer to my question but I hope so. Thunderbay tel has teamed up with rogers to provide something called the "rocket hub" that provides home phone service, acts as a router and provides internet service via the 4g network. Here's my problem. About 3 weeks ago i bought a new asus computer (laptop) and when i brought it home, the wifi would connect ok but when the computer is restarted after shut down, the wifi wouldn't connect. i kept getting the reset your wifi adapter message. After i discovered where the switch was to do that, it would ask for the system password and after that was entered, i'd get the message "unable to connect" or it would keep coming up with the prompt for the system password. i've taken it back to the shop where i bought it and they have had it more than i have trying to get it fixed . so today they are coming back out to the house to try it with my rocket hub because they can't get it to fail on their wifi system. I was wondering if anyone has suggestions to try.
  17. yup, a PLANNED outage. Hydro does this 2 or 3 times a year and it shuts down all the businesses and affects 4 towns as well as the outlying areas so they can do maintenance to the lines or perhaps connect another new feed into the system. So if th GTA was told, sorry power is off for 8 hours on such and such a date and time. What would you do?
  18. we got a call a couple weeks ago that sep 11 we would be having a power outage from 8 am to 4pm. Not a big deal, since the hydro does this to us a couple times a year. BUT, last night my neighbour said , "do you think the hydro could get away with this in Toronto area" So, here's my question, Would you put up with this or would you go after hydro for a rebate of some sort (sure, youre not using hydro so you can't be charged for the time it off, but should you go after them for a bonus rebate due to the inconvenience they have caused) gotta sign off , hydro is down in 5 minutes
  19. A young farm couple, Homer and Darlene, got married and just couldn't seem to get enough lovin'. In the morning, before Homer left the house for the fields, they made love. When Homer came back from the fields, they made love. And again at bedtime, they made love. The problem was their nooner; it took Homer a half hour to travel home and another half hour to return to the fields and he just wasn't getting enough work done. Finally Homer asked the town doctor what to do. "Homer," said the doctor, "just take your rifle out to the field with you and when you're in the mood, fire off a shot into the air. That will be Darlene's signal to come out to you. Then you won't lose any field time." They tried Doc's advice and it worked well for a while. Homer came back to the doctor's office. "What's wrong?" asked the Doc.. "Didn't my idea work?" "Oh, it worked real good," said Homer. "Whenever I was in the mood, I fired off a shot like you said and Darlene'd come runnin'. We'd find a secluded place, make love, and then she'd go back home again." "Good, Homer. So what's the problem?" asked the Doc. "I ain't seen her since huntin' season started."
  20. yup, there really good, but it looks like you'll need a REALLY big frying pan!!!
  21. thanks folk. it was a used camp motor when I got it and I haven't changed the impeller in at least 4 years. I guess i'll take it to the shop tomorrow and get a new one put in.
  22. one of the biggest pike I ever saw when I was a kid was caught by a lady on the grand at caledonia. My dad had piled the family in the car for a "sunday drive" and we were going past some people fishing near the caledonia dam when we saw a lady yelling for help. Dad stopped the car and she had a fishing pole in her hand and was screaming for her husband to come and help her, we watched as the husband and lady pulled in a pike that must have been over 40 inches and at least 20 pounds.
  23. I was going to put my little skiff in the lake today and when I got to the launch I figured I would start it before taking it off the trailer, so I put the motor into the water so the intakes were covered and started the engine. A few spurts of water came out from the water exhaust in the engine then nothing, so I thought maybe it worked on a thermostat and let it run for a few more minutes, I put it in gear and ran it faster, in both forward and reverse but no water came out. Not wanting to get out in the river and have the engine sieze up I pulled it out, took it home and went to town to check with the marina guys. They suggested that maybe something like a bug had made it's home in the water tube from the engine and the one guy behind the parts counter thought the engine has a thermostat control for the water coolng system. So I came home and put the ear muffs on , shoved a piece of wire up the water tube to clean it out then gave it a pull to start it. Water came out the tube and I let it run for 5 minutes with no problem encountered. I thought the problem was fixed but then I started thinking (maybe a dangerous thing to do) that maybe the only reason the water was coming out was because the pressure from the hose is forcing the water up to cool the engine . When I tested it initially it was still on the trailer and not moving and hence not forcing water into the intake. So my question is this, should the water be forced up by the impeller if it is motionless in the water (ie still on the trailer) or will I burn up the engine if I run it and the impeller isn't working properly and only the forward motion of the motor is responsible for the water being forced into the cooling system? your thoughts please
  24. A blind man was flying in a small plane with his brother, the pilot, when his brother suddenly clutched his chest and died. After finally finding the radio, the blind man called for help and was answered by an air traffic controller at a nearby airport. "You've got to help me! I'm totally blind, the pilot of this plane is dead, and we are flying upside down!" The air traffic controller answered "I understand that the pilot is dead and you are blind, but if you are blind how do you know that you are flying upside down?" "Because I have crap running up my neck!!!
  25. I'm not trying to take anything away from Gretzky grt1 = GullRock Tackle 1 (i'm the guy who made it and owned it)
