Gold, Silver but no Bronze - Fall Fishing Report
The Urban Fisherman replied to BFSC Kevin's topic in General Discussion
awesome report dude - nice to see a steelheader that targets other species in the fall! Cheers, Ryan -
I don't know much about those huts buddy but i can tell u the clam 2000 will be to small for you and the boys in a year or so... ours is going to be tight this year with Averie and Luke... I'm going to make it stretch a couple more years until Claira is big enough to come with us then I'll upgrade to something bigger... I like having a floor big time, but I did fish in Rich's hut one time and having no floor was still ten times better than fishing out in the elements... I'm also crazy and can't stay in one spot very long so I like the fact that I can drag the Clam a round a little... anwyays, really all I can say is size wise what you're looking at should be good... here's a picture of Averie in our Clam 2000, taking up half the hut by herself... Cheers, Ryan

He could just be a really big dude... hah But seriously, you can't knock the guy.... it's his first Ski, and he likely genuinely thought it was that big.... with the excitement of the battle, the minutes it took to land likely felt like an hour to him... haha I fished for close to 20 years before I joined OFC and really got into the sport...and if somebody showed me that picture 7 or 8 years ago I'd have believed out of shear ignorance that it was 70lbs... And let's just assume for a second that they put it on two rusty old 35lb spring scales... it could have bottomed them out, even though it wasn't actually 70lbs... those scales are garbage, and not designed to weigh something that big.... At the end of the day, I say congrats to him for catching a fish of a lifetime... hopefully the fish lived despite how it's been held and weighed. I'm sure he's been told enough times by how that you shouldn't hold a fish like that, and will hopefully learn a lesson or two about musky fishing and getting your facts strait before telling stories of grandeur... Cheers, Ryan

NF Home Energy Audit and Attic Insulation
The Urban Fisherman replied to moemoe's topic in General Discussion
They're doing it again.... I did it the last time around... lucky for me my father in law runs a heating company so...all said and done I got 2 new doors, a furnace, gas fireplace insert and insulation for a grand total of my time like $200.00 out of my pocket...most of which was the costs of providing beer to my helpers! -

NF Home Energy Audit and Attic Insulation
The Urban Fisherman replied to moemoe's topic in General Discussion
I did mine by myself and saved some cash.... bought the insulation on sale at Home Depot and they gave me the machine for free....It was a piece of cake, but my father-in-law and I drank a whole pile a beer that night...what a hangover.. lol -
Well I wasn't there this year - so I saw it online just the same as everybody else - He looks pretty stinkin' happy....and is one lucky dude! Big thanks to all of the great sponsors who were involved, and especially Subway for for consistently stepping up to the plate and supporting the sport we love so much! Here's the link to Dave's blog and the video: http://www.factsoffishing.com/blog/dave-mercer/dave-mercer-announces-winner-of-hook-line-and-subway%c2%ae-contest/ Cheers, Ryan

Hit up Long Point bay yesterday for some perch and pike action with the kids! I've been quite busy and just have been a little down lately, and yesterday was just what I needed! We hit the bay right before lunch, and were lucky enough to hang out and visit Shawn, Dan and family and even got to see Frank and Julie for a few minutes! Averie's been wanting to catch her first pike on her own and managed connect with a couple yesterday but she didn't manage to land any. Dan put us on some great perch fishing though so it was a good time had by all! Big thanks to Dan, his wife, kids and his Mom who cooked us dinner and had us out at the cottage for the evening. Averie and Luke had a great time and won't stop bugging me to go visit again! I'll let the pix tell the rest of the story. heading out Averie's first time at the helm Dan and Family the essential minnow / fish bin First fish of the day Luke wouldn't hold his at first Perch or Bass? lol Movie Break Some Keepers... Luke passed out doing 24 MPH in bumpy water lol Some scenery shots.. Kids playing back at the cottage... Averie's new bud - Dan' boy The little ones trying to play catch... He get's his wit from his mom but he wasn't lucky enough to get her looks! Averie went for a quick evening dip... We enjoyed a great sunset... They had a photo op on the quad.. Then it was time to say goodbye.. Thanks Dan - it was a day the kids and I won't soon forget! Have a great thanksgiving everybody! Cheers, Ryan

I miss the wood fireplace we had - a bunch of you guys enjoyed it last sept. during Fish-a-Thon 2010... Here's our golden Lab chillin by the wood insert.... Unfortunately, shortly after that it didn't pass it's WET certification and the wife vetoed my plans to get a new Wood insert... she's high maintenance and wanted to be able to use it when I'm not around lol Here's the new gas insert as of last x-mas... BOO I SAY TO GAS... Miss the wood insert big time... Cheers, Ryan

LOL been there (except for the DUI part) But I'm here to tell you an Oil change around here is more than $24 and a case of beer is also more than $24... I had my oil done a couple days ago...with taxes and the extra oil fee to fill the 5.7L engine it was 58 bucks... case of beer ranges from $30 to $50 boooo but the $58 bucks was well worth it...

Ok, I have a question regarding music downloads
The Urban Fisherman replied to Big Cliff's topic in General Discussion
Agreed. I downloaded all kinds of music and movies when I was in my early teens... fact of the matter is it's stealing. I won't allow my kids to download pirated music or movies when they're old enough... They can work for their money and buy the content legally online or at the store. Besides, with all the crappy quality songs out there and the chances of viruses and such, it just isn't worth it. The only "loop hole" that I think would be fair is if you already bought the CD and either scratched it or lost it. Good luck -
Awesome!

Salmon Fishing & Facts of Fishing Kids Day
The Urban Fisherman replied to danbouck's topic in General Discussion
Thanks Buddy! This was a special trip for me as I've been trying to get my dad out fishing for chinny's for at least 5 years! Finally the stars aligned... he was able to come down, the weather was good for my little boat on the big lake and the salmon were staging... She was a dark fish but fought like a champ and got the old man's heart pumping with jumps and runs galore! Dan already posted his fish hold... here he is asking me if I want to see what fish slime feels like?? lol wish we could have gotten Dan into his first Chinook to but at least he got to net one!! And what a net man I tell ya! I figure we're even now though for the perch spots he gave me this spring! Here's a few more pix.... And some water in the bottom of the boat after getting swamped from the idiots who were on plane before they even got out of the river mouth! Hope you all have a great week at the office! Cheers, Ryan
