  1. Because making sure Norinco never opens a plant or warehouse in TO will sure stop gang shootings. http://www.thestar.com/News/GTA/article/431333
  2. Ditto. I have a floater day coming up this week and I'm thinking of hitting the Niagara, but I haven't fished it in years (like 10, lol). I barely have a clue what to use, lol. We'll see.
  3. Marshmallows on 3/0 treble........they bite them...........really.............
  4. Stayed until 5:00, didn't catch squat. Andrew landed a 2nd one soon after you guys left, hit before he even had the rod in his holder. I have yet to hook a carp on a hair rig, 2nd hotdog didn't help either so the spell was broken. Lol.
  5. Yup, +1 mooneye. They get up to acoupla pounds and put up a decent scrap, very tasty smoked too. Dunno about the Thames but there's plenty in the Grand below Caledonia, alot of guys like fly fishing for them this time of year.
  6. Caught a few small pike around there last week......and a few drum. Suspending stickbaits (X-Rap, Redfin). Keep walking & casting, eventually you'll find something that bites.
  7. Looks to be a decent day, I might come out and play for the hook & corn team Do you guys fish upstream of the bridge or downstream?
  8. Silver Thread! Or plain old school Ande. The only reason Trilene seems "tough" is because they downrate it, 14lb test and labelled 10lb!
  9. +1 Zdeno's will have whatever part you need for any bike, of any year. It's amazing the amount of stuff they have. Not cheap though. Here's a list for a bunch of other wreckers for you to shop around (wreckers near bottom of list) http://www.gtamotorcycle.com/vbforum/showthread.php?t=1045
  10. There's plenty of fish down there, been out about half dozen times in the last two weeks and always catch SOMETHING. I like to cover water down there, 3-4 casts then move to the next spot down. Some days I catch all my fish in Macassa Bay, others by Leander. I cover the boat launch to the rowing club in about 2-3 hours, have caught pike (nothing over 30" darnit, I lost my big one on Friday, whaaaaa!) lots & lots of drum over 10lbs, and a few oos bass. Usually catch 3-4 fish in an evening. Cordell Redfin & X-Rap have caught all my fish, nothing on spoons or spinnerbaits. But I've seen some nice carp cruising around lately (20lb+), might give those a shot soon.
  11. Sheepshead (also called drum) are considered a trash fish that isn't good for eating. They do give a nice little fight when nothing else is biting, but there are better fish to catch. Pier 4 in Hamilton & LaSalle in Burlington also have a mess of them in. I'm guessing it's their spawning season, I'm catching them everywhere trying to find a decent pike! They do like baits you pause on the retrieve instead of a steady rhythm. X-Raps, Husky Jerks & other stickbaits, reel with a jerk-pause and you'll hook a few.
  12. I was looking at those, thanks for bursting my bubble I'm looking for something portable I can put on the back of a motorcycle, but playing with float tubes years ago I know their limitations. I was looking wistfully at those Sevylor "yaks" at Crappy Tire........but they looked flimsy, cramped & useless. There is the BPS option, hmmmmmmm anybody try these? http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/s...0006000_200-6-3
  13. FYI: New cash grab legislation from Dalton this year, if you blow 0.05 your car is seized, towed and your license is suspended for three days. That's the old 12 hour administrative suspension. Equal to about 1 beer in half an hour. And for people wondering where local cruisers are during rush hour, mugging people at speed limit changes. Top of 410 where it changes to 60km/h is a favourite.
  14. Lol that's a good'un. And the carp are really starting to come in there in the last week, the big'uns still have the feed bag on before the spawn. Even had a few chasing stickbaits I was tossing for pike. Where were you looking for bows around there, you need to get to the Credit before you'll find much. Though some boats are sticking a few in the Bay trolling diving crankbaits.
  15. A little foam thing that looks like a 1 1/2" J-Plug. Y'know I don't even know what it's real name is, lol. All the trolling guys I talk to swear by the thing for lakers though.
  16. What's wrong with a smaller "peanut" like they run for Lake O lakers?
  17. Anybody who still thinks blitzes & "racing laws" are about anything other than revenue generation probably still vote Liberal every chance they get. I thought one of Fantino's first press releases when somebody was stupid enough to give him another job was that there wasn't going to be anymore blitzes? I guess somebody has to pay for his airborne toys.
  18. Recruit the beavers to build the next dam? But then somebody would protest the exploitation of slave beaver labour!
  19. Cheapest white bread you can find (all that gluten helps I guess ), just use the middle part and squish it down as a ball around your hook. Works well on carp. Use the crusts to chum on the surface if there aren't too many birds around, then try to catch them off top if carp start rising for the bread crusts. So where's this video you've been talking about?
  20. Have you tried bread there? They get so used to picking up scraps from people feeding the ducks I've almost hand fed 20lb. carp there in July! I'll be making a Six Nations butt run on Friday afternoon........hmmm think I'll swing by Dover for a few hours. Anybody catching cats off the pier? Are the fish & chip places open? Mmmmmm perch burgers
  21. Rub a wax candle over the flouro, will make it float. Also helps with using flouro & suspending stickbaits (won't pull it into a nose down attitude). Old flyfishing trick I remembered yesterday
  22. Taxes on tobacco & alcohol collect more $ than is paid out in health costs. Alot more.
  23. Hooked up with a few other guys on bikes Saturday............
  24. Did you cure your smelts with anything? Frozen smelts are usually pretty soft, I like to cover them with a pile of sea salt or pickling salt and let them sit in the fridge for a day before I use them. They harden up and hold a hook a lot better. Works well on shrimp also, makes good catfish & trout bait.
  25. Buy a motorcycle! Use my 600 for everyday commuting, $20 to fill and 400km. And it can still outrun a Ferrari Still working out the bugs on the canoe rack though, mebbe an inflatable kayak might be the smart way to go......
