  1. This is a great idea. We usually fish in only 10 fow I would think this would be a clear way to watch what is going on. I bought a camera years ago when they first came out, finally cracked it out again last year thru the ice and still worked. May try the straight down the whole thing this year
  2. What are you hoping to catch? And is it just for day use or overnight?
  3. oh and for seals etc...I just go to the local marina, tell them the make/model/year and they look it up for me and sell them right on the spot. They are like a buck or two each Good to support the local guy in some way. Buy the oils and filters there too (instead of the big box shops)
  4. no clue on manual purchase. My method of motor maintenance is do the simple stuff myself (ie lower unit oil, engine oil/filter) and anything that requires a manual I leave to the marina or the kind folks on this board. Thankfully, the last 2 engines I have owned on my "main boat" have both been amazing. Only ever brought them in for impeller changes (and even that maintenance I have been tempted to do myself...lots of stuff on youtube can walk you right through it)
  5. very nice!
  6. That's a beauty haul
  7. neat! congratulations
  8. well we went for it and it worked out fine. Winds were maybe less than predicted and very fisheable. Water temps were 36 degrees and we caught two, lost one more. We only saw one other fish get caught by the 7 or 8 boats fishing the same area. Nothing huge. Sorry to hijack the thread but figured you would like to know! Caught ours casting rather than trolling.
  9. been trying to get there all fall and keep getting re-routed due to winds. This time we are going for it. Its a huge wind but we are on the south shore and its a south wind so we will see. Worst case scenario we go to the Thames instead...but man I hate the Thames.
  10. game on...heading to St Clair tomorrow to face off against 30-40 k winds. Good times.
  11. correct
  12. and here I am making plans to go to Pigeon L or L St Clair in a few days!
  13. beauty pike!
  14. if lakers weren't so gross I might have been tempted to drop a line down there (at least I find the burping pooping slimy Lake O lakers kinda gross)😁
  15. No sir not ready for that. Hope to get out in the boat two more times before packing it in.
  16. Whatever those are...there are a lot of em down there. Great pictures and a nice pike. Looks like a fantastic day on the water
  17. ...looks like I was missing out on some fun!
  18. Nice bass. I lived in Barrie for 8 years and never fished Simcoe other than through the ice a few times. Back in those days I was exclusively after musky if I was out fishing in a boat
  19. that is some dedication right there! Hoping we still have a month of open water here in southern Ontario...but you never know!
  20. Scugog used to have a good musky population, not sure if that is still the case. Probably been 4 years or so since I last tried.
  21. Can you still get hand remotes for this unit? Would be good to have a back-up for times like this. Kinda sucks that you can't run the unit without the foot control.
  22. yipes. Not a good look
  23. son of a gun...with a bit more googling and downloading the manual I somehow fixed it. Involved disconnecting the power source for 30 seconds and manually rotating the prop. It was a magnet problem according to the symptoms I was having. Who knew there were magnets in there (other than CrowMan apparently!)
  24. Hey all, Went to Pigeon Lake the past couple days. Water temps around 50 degrees and super windy. We managed to boat 3 muskies (all around 40 inches) and lost a couple more. While there, my trolling motor stopped working. It is a fairly basic unit, approx 10 years old. Motorguide W55. Usually when you hit the on off button on the foot pedal the motor makes a "beep". On day 2 it didn't. Went and got a new battery for foot pedal. Still no beep. There is power to the unit. Any thoughts or suggestions? Don't often use the trolling motor so would prefer not to replace the whole unit if there is a simpler fix. I googled the foot pedal but everywhere on line seems to show this model of pedal out of stock (guess they want you to buy a new trolling motor!). My google search did find a place called Aikman's in Mississauga that maybe could help (they are closed today so don't know for sure).
  25. Yes I definitely joined that once or twice (the fishing, did not get out to restaurant). One year I was even fortunate enough to catch a musky on that outing (it was usually pretty slim pickings).
