  1. I won't debate you for using the lip-gripper on that specimen, I wouldn't touch one of those either. Much like women, fish with whiskers creep me out.
  2. I hear in the spring you can get some real nice ones at the narrows betweem simcoe and Cooch, not sure what the action would be like there now though.
  3. spring fishing show is coming up, its where most of my baits get purchased for the year
  4. Thanks for the report, sounds like a great experience
  5. thanks for the update. 4 over 10 inches is better than what I saw people doing yesterday. Those pike in there must be on a feeding frenzy right now...just swim around with mouth open!
  6. good luck to both of you, let us know how you do
  7. we were out there as well from about 10:30 to 12:30. Same results, lots of action but most very small
  8. good luck to you! Not sure if anyone ever gets jumbos in there, but I've seen some in the 10 inch range. We fished a bit today for 2 hours and caught a ton of dinks
  9. very nice! A few of those would make some real nice pike bait
  10. yup, said he's seen the same people over and over, and have heard them talking to each other about how they "limited out again yesterday". Easy to nail a guy for over 50 in the bucket, not too easy to know what's in his freezer at home.
  11. Hope you live nearby, I walked down there today and there were a lot of disappointed fishermen down there. I saw about 60 people, talked to a guy from Stoney Creek who had driven up because he had also been reading reports about great fishing (he got skunked...looks like the fish are on the run...or in someone's freezer!)
  12. I took a walk down there today and the fishing seemed to be quite slow for most people. Earlier I was talking to the bait-man at Simcoe bait and tackle and he was saying he has seen people purchase bait nearly every day for the past few weeks. He fears they are taking their 50 each day...I believe him. Sad that some can't respect a resource
  13. holy moly my plans have changed, will be getting out for the first time since the niagara (lack of) musky g2g
  14. I lived on Lake Erie until I was 3 or 4. As soon as I could stand, the older kids put a pole in my hands and TIED a sheephead to it (mom wouldn't allow me near hooks). Apparently I'd slap the water with that thing all day (poor sheephead)
  15. don't get too excited Marty, let's not forget its the leafs the penguins played. Scary part is penguins clearly have the brighter future yet again, another lemieux/jagr scenario coming. Frustrating to watch other teams fall from greatness over the years, then manage to rebuild and become great again. All the while the leafs continue to rise and fall from lousy to pretty good (think 93), never great.
  16. no doubt I spend a lot, but more volume than high end stuff (ie a couple of 150 reels instead of 1 three hundred dollar reel). Its good clean fun, better than wasting it on smoking or gambling!
  17. funeral director
  18. my grandparents used to swear by sticking a wool sock around your neck with a cabbage leaf in it personally I'd say stick those socks on your feet and get yerself to the doc post haste
  19. I would put absolutely zero faith in a 14 day forecast. Heck, they can't even get tomorrow right half the time.
  20. Siesta Joey?? Sounds more like a Roy story, although I vaguely recollect images of Paul slouched in a chair. I once had to boot into shore due to a fast approaching thunderstorm. Ended up crouching under an already fallen-over tree at the water's edge. Crawled out onto a branch and caught a little bass. Made a fire out of receipts in my wallet and twigs I found, skewered a bass filet onto my knife and cooked it up. Didn't taste too good, but was kind of a fun way to spend an hour when you're stranded.
  21. I'm hoping to sleep in (although the kids will have something to say about that...quite early and loudly I'm sure). I have zero fishing plans on the horizon until we see some ice.
  22. Rizzo

    Hey!

glad to see you back, keep in touch with your doctor to make sure you stay healthy! As far as the smartcast, I've never used one, but can you ever have too many fishing toys?? Didn't think so.
  23. glad to see many are improvising and getting some fishing in, cause getting a trip cancelled sucks!
  24. what the frig is a hoodoe? Perhaps its something I would like to be owning
  25. yes, you can walk to the marina from the bus station. Just ask anyone working there and they can point you in the right direction, its only a few minutes walk from there
