  1. and a decade ago I didn't think OJ would pay the price until the afterlife...guess he's got an early start
  2. hahaha I only went there one time and I felt the same way. I found it very expensive. minnows were about twice the price as any other store I had been in. Was my first and last time there.
  3. thanks jwl I'll check the plugs. As far as launching goes, I'm not sure whats going on down there. I launched like a chump down at Netherby, when I got up to the marina I saw the ramp was open!
  4. I've never actually weighed a musky so couldn't even begin to guess weights of some of those brutes. I've heard of many world record bass being caught by cottagers though. Apparently there are 15 pound bass, no even 20's out there waiting to be caught...oops no, the ones I hear about the guy ate the 18 lb bass he caught. Funny thing is, when you tell people the Ontario record is only around 10 pounds, they don't realize they have over-estimated the weight, they think they ate the record!
  5. nice fat fish! I was out on Saturday but only stuck around for a few hours. Water visibility was only 1.5 to 2 feet and temp was 41.5 degrees. Looks like you guys didn't have great water clarity either though, good to see you caught a healthy looking fish. I've never had great confidence when the water is murky grey like that rather than green. As for my boat, it ran great after the troubles I had the week before. Apparently a seal had worked its way loose so the marina guys locked it in place. While they were in there, we changed the impeller too as a preventative thing. Even got some wiring issues looked after on the trailer. What I forgot to tell them is the fishfinder sends out really weak signals while the boat is running, guess there is some kind of electrical interference or something. Either way, I should be good to go on the 13th!
  6. awesome...one of these days I'll book myself a fly-in trip
  7. "Belak" and "potential" in the same sentence don't belong. He's as good as he'll ever be. The guy is 32 years old for pete's sake! There's nothing wrong with the type of player he is, as long as people appreciate him for what he is, not what he might become. The man is well past his prime so forget potential and take what you can get now.
  8. gin and tonics in the summer, rye and cokes in the winter, beer all the year round
  9. good. Never heard of the guy we're getting in return but I never saw the potential in either Steen or carlo that others seemed to see
  10. The marina will be looking at it tomorrow (so I'm told) so I'll post an update when I hear what the problem was
  11. ya I was hoping that would be the problem. My partner had a stiff leader that we snapped the end off, it worked great to poke around but there was nothing to poke!
  12. man oh man what a beautiful day...and I got no fishing in. Launched the boat at Netherby and fired it up...no water shooting out the back. We tried poking around in there to see if the "pee hole" was iced over but it wasn't. Nothing clogging the intake either. Tried to find a marina nearby but nobody in Ft Erie or Port Colbourne could look at it on short notice. I had taken the electric off and left it at home so we couldn't even fish the Netherby area by electric. As far as an update , a bit of snow at the launch (nothing major) and water temps at 42 degrees. Boat in the shop getting ready for the 13th
  13. last chance at slimy goodness, here's hoping we'll see you. I'm in Grimsby now, will be hitting the river in the a.m.
  14. been there...unfortunately i go so long between fishing excursions mine has never developed into a chronic problem. Only time of year I get out regularly is the fall, and then I mostly troll!
  15. good to know. I'm stopping in there tonight to look for a (hopefully) 48 inch heavy duty wire leader. Banging bottom on the niagara is wreaking havoc on the flurocarbon!
  16. right around 2 hours and 15 minutes. We always stay in Grimsby the night before (1.5 hours from Barrie) and then the launch is about 45 minutes from there. I'd invite you to stay at my mother-in-laws house the night before with me, but I'm already in the doghouse for storing all my gear there!
  17. thanks for the info, I'm heading south through that area tonight
  18. right on! I just checked out a local pond on my way home from work and it was iced over too. Only has snot-rocket pike in it, but for some reason I don't have an issue targetting dink pike if its through the ice. I just love watching that orange flag waving . couple more weeks and I'll give it a go
  19. Good info Lew. Still sticking with Pete's green/tan Lund eh? I can't convince you to hop into the blue princecraft? I will be out there again this Saturday I'm hoping and be able to give a bit of an update...hopefully not of the lure-washing variety. I also hope to be there on the 13th. I originally thought I would have a spot available in my boat but I have a couple of boatless friends in that area who are claiming seats in the boat each time I go down there...so sorry to any OFC'ers that were hoping to join me but it appears I will be full.
  20. ah that explains it. I had my little guys out a while back catching some dink perch on the scooby doo rod when one of the rods just bent over. We lost the fish, I just figured it had been a pike.
  21. to get rid of the ice, bring a big thermos of hot coffee......then drink it all, wait 10 minutes and let nature take its course

  23. snag, you're making me very nervous
  24. Hi Lew, We launched at Netherby but I did notice about 8 vehicles/trailers parked at the marina, so the marina was still open last week-end, not sure if the same will be true a month from now.
  25. wow what a day! Congrats on the new pb
