  1. thanks for all the kind words everyone. It certainly was great to get out there one more time and see some familiar and new faces. after all those years of getting skunked at the season closer, nice to see 3 fish caught
  2. thanks for that link danbo, much better than a lot of the sites I visited
  3. thanks guys, in the meantime I have been doing some very slow research on-line (dang dial-up) and i think I've come to the same answer as what several of you are saying. 1 is a tiger, 2 I'm not sure, 3 is a barred musky. Either way, far different than I thought a few days ago. Apparently barred are regularly confused with tigers. Thank you for all your information and anyone who thinks they know, please continue to give answers. Especially on the little one I have doubts as to what the dang thing is!
  4. After the Upper Niagara G2G I posted a picture of what I thought was a tiger muskie. There seems to be some question now whether it was a tiger or not. I'd like anyone to weigh in please with their thoughts on the following fish, all were caught on the upper niagara over the past few years. The second one (the little guy) was on a day with our own Aaron (CoolB), and the third picture is the same photo posted on the Upper report. I actually thought all three of these were tigers, but I'd like to hear any opinions.
  5. Good to see you again Lew and thanks for the update. Although I knew i couldn't make the supper, my partner Shawn told me part way through the day he needed to leave by two for his in-laws Christmas party...needless to say that didn't happen, here's hoping they forgive him (and me as I had the car keys!). I didn't even see Adam there but I'm excited to see his fish, that was great news to read this Sunday morning. Although my fish wasn't that long (low 40's???) it sure was fat. At 49 inches I'd imagine Adam's was a real beaut, hopefully someone will post a photo
  6. crack out the marshmallows!
  7. no kidding. Man what a boat you've got yourself Wayne. Dreaming of being in that thing with you next year is what kept Shawn and I going today...think warm thoughts...think warm thoughts
  8. It sure was tough rolling out of bed this morning, but what a great day to be out on the water. Thanks to those who got there early and cleared the ramp. Very exciting to see green water when we got there. For most of us (other than Jack's boat!) things were pretty tough out there. My partner Shawn and I tried everything...troll upstream, troll downstream, fish deep, fish less deep...heck we even did 2 minutes of casting...frozen guides put an end to that idea. Part way through the day we decided to do some jigging after hours of trolling produced nothing more than some arm-shocking jolts on bottom. Around 2 p.m. I caught this fish dragging/jigging a big white spinnerbait on bottom. My plan was to go to bed and post this photo in a day or two, but when I got home I put the photo on the computer and noticed something a bit different about this musky...something I hadn't noticed in the boat. Maybe someone else will see what I'm talking about. I didn't have a good look at it because after this awkward pose I put the fish down in the water so it could catch its breath and I could get a more flattering hold. Soon as she hit the water it took off like a shot! No chance for better photo or release shot. Guess those cold water muskies (37 degrees is what I saw) don't need much reviving. Either way, I'd much rather see a fish swim away strong than get a better photo! It was great to see some familiar faces and meet a few more OFC'er's.
  9. well we're back in Barrie now, glad to hear you had so much action Jack! The fish have had lockjaw any other year we've been down there that late. That's great you guys had 4 fish on! Thank you to those who got the ramp clear, I think all the launching went smooth other than boats being frozen to trailers!
  10. I have to be brief but just wanted to give the quick update that at least one musky was caught at the G2G on the upper niagara! In all the years I've gone, we've never got anything on the closing week-end but we finally broke that OFC goose egg with a respectable musky. I couldn't make it to the dinner, but I hope to hear other successful reports soon. I'll post more info and a pic in a day or two.
  11. hahaha...if that's the case Lew can I borrow those nice rainbow baits you've prepared for tomorrow?
  12. here's hoping there are no OFC assembly line workers
  13. a mirror so you can see how awesome you look driving a boat
  14. I wear plastic underwear, fill 'em up with water and dump in a bunch a minnas. Quite tickly and keeps your minnows from freezing. Then try asking someone else on the stream to help you get a chub out of your pants
  15. oh and don't be fooled by the 2 "positive reviews" Call me a skeptic but those reviews are probably written by the inventor and his brother.
  16. geez and I thought the worm binder was stupid...guess you have to be a live bait fisherman to appreciate this stuff
  17. interesting timing, i had people at work today asking me about this thing (guess they all know I fish). didn't look like it would hold too many musky baits so I didn't give it much thought
  18. about one third of the Barrie Marina is frozen over
  19. that's great news. Personally, I think the first choice for launching would be the marina. I believe the plan was to meet there at 8 a.m. and only launch elsewhere if it was locked. Everyone bring shovels and salt! I'm so excited about the water clarity I may even be 15 minutes early!
  20. ...says the guy with the canopy and propane heater
  21. hey jwl, any update on water colour or what the winds have been like down there?
  22. good point. Dang fish probably ate more muskies in a year than it spawned
  23. that fish is ridiculously large. congratulations to all involved. Best part is at least they had been fishing muskies for 1 year... unlike Mr. O'Brien
  24. Geez all these guys in Lunds. I'll be there representing the "princecrafters" on the board. Mainly blue with red writing and silver hull. Nasty looking winds this week. Looks like I'll have to bonk one right on the head
  25. ooooh nasty
