  1. im heading down on saturday morning. wasnt going to go because of the price but some free tickets fell into my lap. it'll be an alright way to kill whats looking to be a crappy day.
  2. if you do the timing belt yourself, make sure you replace the engine mount bolts that need to be removed to access the belt. on some of them (not sure if its all of them) they use torque to yield style bolts for the mount to block bolts. if you dont replace them you can over torque them and crack a part of the engine block. theres a repair kit out there online somewhere that we ordered to fix a customer car that came in on the hook after the engine almost dropped out of it. ryan
  3. i managed to get out and make a few casts at lasalle park here in burlington yesterday, it felt great!!! gonna head down there for an hour or so again today after work...much needed after the day ive had
  4. lebarons is definitely no tax this week, 12th to the 20th iirc. like every other time it doesnt apply to items that are on sale or special (and other exclusions...ammo, special order) i got in there early saturday and bought my first shotgun now i need to find a place to make it go boom ryan
  5. if nobody has seen the website it looks like lebaron is having a no tax sale this week, ending next sunday. like other times, sale and special items arent eligible. this comes at a good time as i just got the go-ahead to buy my first shotgun. definitely gonna check it out! ryan
  6. there is such a huge number of trucks crossing the border crossing each day that they cant possibly check every single vehicle thoroughly, if your paperwork looks in order and you have what you need you normally just get let through. they do random checks and checks on people who dont have their stuff in order. at least thats how it was when i was picking up inventory in michigan for my buddys warehouse weekly. that was a few years back now
  7. does it need paint work? or just the dent straightened? it really is amazing what some of the paintless dent repair people can do. look up dent wizards or paintless dent removal in your area its normally much cheaper than a body shop. of course, if the paint is damaged as well there of no use. as for knowing any shops in london, i cant help ya. ryan
  8. pretty sure pisces marine in oakville carries them as well piscesmarine.ca
  9. im aware it passed, just pointing out that everyones first move is to replace the converter and its often not the REAL problem. we see more misdiagnosed cats when it comes to driveclean than anything else...figured it may save someone some money down the road.
  10. what he means is theres always 3 sides to a story, "his" side, "her" side, and the truth normally lies somewhere in between
  11. catalytic converters dont fail, they get killed. if you're converter is no good...there is a reason for it. look upstream of the converter for the reason that it got wiped out. replacing it will probably get you through the test now but you'll probably be doing it again to pass in another 2 yrs. too many places are content to just toss a converter at it without looking into why it fails. ryan
  12. my dad has a pair of the pants and a jacket, he keeps them in the saddlebag on his motorcycle for when he gets caught in the rain. they're really light and pack down nice and small. he does have a small hole in one leg as it brushed up against the exhaust. i dont know how much warmth you'll get from them, they're almost a paper material
  13. you dont HAVE to put 450 into it you pay for diagnosis, and do the repairs recommended IN ORDER OF MOST IMPROVEMENT first, up to 450 dollars. if all your car needs is 2 cats, the cost of the repairs will put you over the 450 limit *edit...which means you dont have to do that work*, and you can get tested for a conditional pass. the repair cost limit includes the cost of diagnosis, but not the cost of the retest.
  14. lovetofish has it right, just test it. ive tested THOUSANDS of cars and the vast majority pass...its ~9/10 cars that pass, fails are pretty uncommon really. any of the additives you buy like the guaranteed to pass stuff or seafoam need to be used properly or you'll fail almost certainly. read the bottle, they'll tell you to add it to a full tank AND DRIVE UNTIL EMPTY, then refill and test it. make sure the car is warmed up (the test includes a warmup of some sort) then test it. if it fails the retest is cheap and you can know whats wrong with it. also, any money you spend BEFORE the test cant be applied to the repair cost limit which is in effect to get you a conditional pass (as long as a credited driveclean facility does the repairs) if you have any other questions you can pm me, i may take a bit to answer though...im at work at the shop right now. if you're in the burlington area, we do tests all day, every half hr ryan
  15. i'd second radioworld..... bought a power cable for my humminbird unit from them. the service was quick, and shipping was minimal.
  16. we'd love to make it up there for the g2g this year, but we're getting married that weekend. we'll definitely be planning a trip up there sometime this summer ryan
  17. i just did a rear main seal in a 4x4 v6 escape... tell you one thing, you dont wanna have to go through that what a pain in the ass
  18. i think the exact same way. i have a buddy at work who spends thousands and thousands to go to disney twice a year, he wouldnt THINK of heading north for something relaxing. hell, the guy has never been north of barrie and can say "theres much more to see at disney than northern ontario" i have no idea how he can do the same thing over and over and over.
  19. skeeter i didnt write it....just got the shop radio on 102.1 it probably WAS pretty personal though ryan
  20. I can't wait, i've done the firearms course and my license has been issued (waiting for it to show). I was up at my buddys deer camp this fall and did a watch or two with him. It was great, hearing the sounds of the bush as everything around wakes up. It was great to have the chance to go up before i started stocking up on gear, got to see whats needed and what isn't and stuff like that. ryan
