  4. doesnt matter how much tread is left. with weather cracking like that its time to replace them regardless. theres more than just tread depth to consider when looking at replacing tires. ryan
  5. I am somewhat limited for choices because I wear a prescription lens (and Rx polarized glasses arent in the budget) but I love the cocoons I bought. ryan
  6. may want to respool the line as well, who knows how long its been on there or what kind of line it is
  7. you're right... i wouldnt bother fishing lake o shoreline. mutated, ugly, small, hard to catch. i'd avoid it like the plague check the local conservation authoritys website, the guide to eating sportfish will give you an idea of whats in a given lake, if you can find one local to you on a map.
  8. saturday - mountsberg chasing pike sunday - long point (depending on weather) chasing pike monday - home chasing shots, with beers ryan
  9. Joey, you're at the long beach cottages/trailer park? I'll be spending a few days there over the bass opener weekend. maybe you can swing by the cottage (dunno what one we're in yet) and have a pop or two. ryan
  10. Ive only fished out of the long beach area. Ive rented a cottage from there in the past and am doing so again for the weekend of bass opener. When we were there last I used white spinnerbaits with half-decent luck for bass. Didnt do much else other than that. ryan
  11. CLofchik thanks for the link to the regs, im at work and dont have my copy handy. Royl thanks for clearing it up a bit ryan
  12. see thats where my confusion came from anyone else have insight on this? have the regs changed? ryan
  13. CLofchik... thanks for that info. I think I'd heard that before...but I wasn't 100% and didnt wanna break any regs. ryan
  14. hey Bob, things are going great... we'll be up your way for almost a week in July. we'll stop by for sure thanks for all the info guys... like i said, hopefull we'll have something to report! ryan
  15. i was going to use a quickstrike rig with a circle hook at the nose of the smelt and a treble at the back, with 2 wire leaders. ive seen treble/treble combinations but im not sure if that puts it over the allowable hook point numbers.
  16. I am going on a couple of outings for pike this coming long weekend and have a few questions about dead bait fishing for pike. Is it too late in the spring for this approach? I've read that ice-out is the ideal time but im not sure when it becomes less productive. Are the water temps getting too high for this tactic? Ive been out almost everyday for the past couple weeks tossing jerkbaits, spoons, spinnerbaits with no luck yet. I was at the grocery store today looking for frozen sardines/smelts and the ones they had were 8" and up.. too big? anybody have preferences. It'd be great to get into some fish for once lets hope i can come back and post a report. ryan
  17. ive had some luck with the blue/orange ones, as well as the clown. i also have black/silver which has seen a few fish
  18. i'll be spending almost a week on La Cloche lake outside of Massey. Fished the lake once or twice last summer with no luck. we went ice fishing there early march and got one hammerhandle pike. ryan
