  5. Well we started out about 5:30am saturday morning i decided not to do the trout opener as i wanted to be in my new boat...so off we went to the kawarthas,tri-lakes area and met up with a few people one of whom lives on the lake ,so between about 6 of us and including jhon kerr, from ontario out of doors,as well as the toronto starr outdoor writer, well we went crappie fishing using floats and small tubes ,and managed about 100 crappies ,some real nice ones, around the 13-15 inch mark ,but we also threw back at least the same amount,of small ones but we did have to keep changing areas as they did move around, most were caught in the late afternoon,as it was very cold sat morning and we also got rain as well, and sunday morn it was not as good, again it was cold so as the day went on the fishing was better,so i guess we did ok considering the water temp was around 52 degrees but warmed to 53 by mid-day,so sorry there is no pics,as i didnt have my camera, because im stupid and forgot it at home,my bud did take a few pics so i have to see if he can send me a few,so all in all it was a pretty good opener, and now with the warm temps we are supposed to get it will get even better, with the big females yet to move in, so get out there as the water warms up and hit those crappies,....cheers
  6. I have lots of freinds that live on waterfront property all over southern ontario, and in the bancroft area ,and everyone of them would never treade it for the world, and some of their places have doubled and tripled in price its amazing, and there is getting less of it all the time,if you can afford it well you know what to do....good-luck cheers

  17. Hi david, thats great news and yes i think there would be alot of intrest for a walleye talk or multi-species talk for sure, maybe even one on panfish and start to get everyone interested in crappie fishing as there is now millions of them in all the kawarthaws, its like a whole new fishery opening up out there and not to many people take advantage of it..great ideas thanks for posting that...maybe you should start a new thread about that so people can let you know...cheers

  24. Well you might be right cliff, from the weather we are going to get it doesnt sound very good they said we got alot of rain comming so ,lets hope it stays fishable, and lets hope the trout dont use the high water to drop back down to the lake...its gonna be a nail bitter for sure, well your post says you and carol have some places picked out so remember cliff,if you are fishing different creeks not all of them will be the same ...as in muddiness some clear quick and some will be clay coloured, and if you are way up in the headwaters it might not even get muddy or washed-out,....good-luck cheers
  25. Well about 15 yrs ago,i remeber asking a charter boat captain about those big black birds i saw all around the port darlington harbor just out in the lake, and he told me he thought it was some speices of loons, and every year since, there have been more and more and now as we all know there are thousands of them,so its proof that they are increasing in numbers ten fold, and about 4 yrs ago,i spotted one on the ottawa river near petawawa, and they have never been there before either so lets attack the govt for not letting the MNR do the job that they know has to be done,to kill them in huge numbers, they can hire hunters and at least make a season on them so they can be hunted big time...or put a bounty on them...that would work for sure....i hope they do something as its gonna get even worse,or before its to late, god dam polititions idiots
