  1. Me too. I just wish they would come up with a lifetime license option. I'd be all over it unless it was stupid expensive...they could even pro rate it according to your age. I have never been able to figure out why it has never been considered. To me it would seem that if they got a big wad of cash up front...they might be able to invest it or use it to fund projects on the go now rather then later.
  2. I'm good until Dec31 2013...but thx for throwing this up here. I'm sure someone will have needed a reminder
  3. I hope you catch nothing...and your gas auger won't work...and you fall through a couple of times and lose some gear. Did I just type that outloud You lucky bugger. Give em hell next weekend Simon and do share it with us. I'm hoping for ice by Dec 17-18 weekend. So until then I will be green with envy.
  4. I can't believe he released it. Think of the nice grain fed steaks you could get off of that beast Without weighing them I'm pretty sure I have been lucky enough to get some over 30...but a 40 ...WOW that would be fun.
  5. That's the way I'm leaning Shayne....but my concern is that those batteries just don't punch alot of holes. It's nothing for my to cut 50 holes. Somedays I'm sure even more. So for the cost and weight of a good cordless and packing 2-3 batteries to get me through a day on the ice...I might as well go gas or propane. I have seen gas 8 inchers in the 23-26 LB range...so no way I'm dragging out a 38LB propane auger with a spare bottle or two. If I wasn't so stubborn I would have had a sled and gas auger years ago, cause I can certainly afford it. I just really enjoy walking out and cutting my own holes. Kinda the same feeling I get walking out to my vegetable garden and getting fresh veggies instead of driving to the grocery store. Hopefully I get it figured out soon....first ice isn't that far away
  6. How can you possibly pick a Lightfoot favourite? But this is one of mine.
  7. I'd take it all winter too..when I was your age. It 48 I'm still trying to get a little exercise by sticking with being a walker and cutting my own holes with a manual auger. But it is getting just a little tougher every year. So I decided to look into power augers and STILL walking out for exercise. A 38LB auger is just way more then necessary with all the other choices out there.
  8. I was afraid of that. That's about 12LBs more then I'm willing to lug around as a walker.
  9. I was thinking last Sunday was my last boatride for perch this fall...but now after seeing your pictures ...I might have to haul her up for one last go tomorrow. Glad you and the pooch got out.
  10. Cool :thumbsup_anim: Party at Camp Jiggy with free beer to celebrate ?
  11. Dan I bought the Gagnon's hut Monday. It doesn't say it anywhere in the ad but I just checked the box downstairs..it is 600 denier fabric. The model you are looking at is 300 denier fabric. So the fabric is twice as heavy. Right there should be enough to convince you to get the one from Gagnons. The fact that it is on for $179 makes it an absolute steal. I see GBW has already offered to grab one for you...it is a sale so you might wanna commit before the price goes up.
  12. Now that made me laugh ....cause Debbe loves her steak. If I did give her fish for her birthday I'm pretty sure no one here would ever see or hear from me again.
  13. Mother in law you say..hmmm...I say give it a go What are you really out
  14. Thx for posting that. I enjoy all nature shows. And I think they fellow is the best narrator hands down.
  15. This shelter has 4 anchors. I was thinking 2 in the wind side skirt and one front wall wind side and back wall.Is that enough or should I get more anchors for those real windy days?
  16. Gotta agree with Cliff Congrats on 30 years you 2 love birds
  17. Pop ups are pop ups. If I was only to have one shelter it would be a flip up..way better fishing shelter IMHO. Besides my grandson I have a few other friends and family who are not as keen on fishing as myself, who I would love to get out on the ice with me. This shelter is the way to go for that. It saves me the cost of expensive hut rentals and saves my friends and family the expense of getting expensive cloths/boots that they don't already own just to spend a day or two on the ice with me. They can always spend there own money on this stuff once I lure them to the dark side For now I'll just be happy for them to give it a go. The shelter sets up pretty easily in my living room. I can see it being more of a challenge on a windy day. I would think it would be a 2 man operation on a real windy mother of a day. It has 4 wall pockets inside for storage and 2 big mesh storage nets in the ceiling plus a carabeener hook hanging from the center buckle in the ceiling to hang something on. A small light perhaps? Each wall has a good size clear plastic window and each window has a black material cover that you can velcro over it to darken up the interior. There are 2 covered over meshed vents in the ceiling for fresh air. The tent material itself feels really good. I'm real happy with how thick and sturdy it seems. That was my biggest concern going into this. Actual usage will determine if it stands up like I think it will. I always bring a small snow shovel to snow my hut in with and this shelter has a nice 9.5 inch...I measured it...skirt around the whole thing. For anchoring it they give you 4 ice anchors. Each corner of the hut has a grommet in the skirt to anchor through. Each sidewall also has an adjustable strap that you can anchor down as well. This in total would require 8 anchors...but they only give 4? Anybody out there own one of these style shelters? If so do you recommend I get 4 more anchors or can I make due with the 4 I have? That's my review Cosmos I hope I was helpful. :thumbsup_anim: Bring on the ice
  18. Went and picked the shelter up today. I already have a fish trap pro portable...but I wanted one of these for when I try and get the grandson on the ice for some fishing. This will give us lots more room. I have it set up in the living room right now. The cat doesn't know what the hell is going on and is afraid to come upstairs
  19. :thumbsup_anim: BRING ON THE ICE :thumbsup_anim: Thx for posting that. I had a day once on Scugog ice where I got an insane amount of walleye. Stupid numbers. I actually came off the ice before the real good evening bite because I had just plain had enough. 14-19 inch clones one after another. I can only imagine a day like that hauling in the brutes in this video. Now you have done it ....when I finish my morning coffee you have FORCED me to start to get my ice gear organized for the season. jds63 you are evil
  20. BONUS LEW :thumbsup_anim: Found money is always a good thing...no matter the circumstance. A co-worker of mine was helping his brother do renos at the house he had just bought. They where in the process of tearing out a wall to make an ensuite bathroom. They found a secret cubby hole with $23,000 in it. The brother found out latter from a neighbor that the old owner who had passed away.... used to play the ponies...so he figured that must have been his winnings he squirreled away and kept hidden from his wife
  21. X2. Thx for putting this up Terry. God bless them all.
  22. Yeah we sure had to work for them today...but the last 2.5-3 hours where decent. Peanut must have put on a couple of miles running from one end of my boat to the other...bet she slept well during the car ride home Thx for a good day again my friend.
  23. Best advice I can give with regards to a Manual auger Dana. Get a strikemaster lazer or a Fin bore lll. They have a curved blade...this is the key. The curved style blades cut a lot better/easier then the swede bore and other straight bladed augers...and I do mean alot better. You can't believe the difference. It is the only thing besides good clothing I would never cheap out on.
