  1. And I'm 100% certain he came home from fishing to a romantic candle lit dinner.
  2. Truer words have not been spoken. We own some rental property. Our first accountant was a friend of a friend. Saved us money so we where happy. Our current accountant is freaking unbelievable. The money he saves us with his knowledge just blows me away. Find a good accountant and you will benefit big time. Congrats on the plunge and the best of luck with your "New baby"
  3. Actually sounds like good planning to me
  4. Meely...Dunsford has a market. My mom goes all the time in the summer...but I can't vouch for what it has. It might be worth a boo sometime when your up at the manor.
  5. I'm with you on this one Mike. I have practised C & R my whole life. I would not lose one second of sleep over keeping a beauty like that. My one fish trophy impact on the fishery based on my entire lifetime is so small it would be a joke arguing about it. I do however admire and respect there decision to release it.
  6. Kinda puts it all into it's proper perspective doesn't it. Thx for sharing that.
  7. Beauty fish. I'm hoping for ice by Dec 17-18th down here....but I'm getting less optimistic everyday. Thx for sharing that.
  8. I can tell by the mud and the rocks ED Zachery where u were...well where you parked your Mini Van anyway Too busy at work to get out and give it a go myself..but if your still willing to show me a durham spot for perchin for my grandson I'd be happy to hear from you this week. If not POUND THEM this week Have fun.
  9. X2. But I am weak.
  10. You brought 17 home? For you that must be a record. So you all know... he catches tons of perch...but usually only keeps 8 or so. Nice job you bugger. I was painting my damn kitchen today BTW did you have Margo or the old man with you or where you solo?
  11. Sounds like my last ice fishing Ron. I have been walking on the ice on Simcoe on a Saturday and on another part of the lake the next day in my boat. A perfect spring weekend is Simcoe ice in the am...eastern trib rainbows in the afternoon...and then out in the boat on Simcoe the following day :thumbsup_anim:
  12. I will be icing perch either on Coooch or Simcoe Dec 17/18 weekend....possibly Dec 10/11 That's been the norm for over 10 years now. Don't see that changing. Christmas week I'm always on my 3rd 4th or 5th trip out. Last year Cooch had 7 plus inches of ice by Christmas.
  13. Just thought I'd throw my 2 cents in before this one gets locked. Thx for sharing your new experience with us Emil. I'm happy you gave something new a go and are enjoying it. That's all I got. Again Emil...great job
  14. There you go spoiling my perfect plan Bruce Maybe I'll leave something vintage out for them...like my pocket fisherman... that should be enough to make them happy
  15. The real trick is to live like I do. When you got nothing worth stealing burglars aren't really a problem
  16. Me too. I just wish they would come up with a lifetime license option. I'd be all over it unless it was stupid expensive...they could even pro rate it according to your age. I have never been able to figure out why it has never been considered. To me it would seem that if they got a big wad of cash up front...they might be able to invest it or use it to fund projects on the go now rather then later.
  17. I'm good until Dec31 2013...but thx for throwing this up here. I'm sure someone will have needed a reminder
  18. I hope you catch nothing...and your gas auger won't work...and you fall through a couple of times and lose some gear. Did I just type that outloud You lucky bugger. Give em hell next weekend Simon and do share it with us. I'm hoping for ice by Dec 17-18 weekend. So until then I will be green with envy.
  19. I can't believe he released it. Think of the nice grain fed steaks you could get off of that beast Without weighing them I'm pretty sure I have been lucky enough to get some over 30...but a 40 ...WOW that would be fun.
  20. That's the way I'm leaning Shayne....but my concern is that those batteries just don't punch alot of holes. It's nothing for my to cut 50 holes. Somedays I'm sure even more. So for the cost and weight of a good cordless and packing 2-3 batteries to get me through a day on the ice...I might as well go gas or propane. I have seen gas 8 inchers in the 23-26 LB range...so no way I'm dragging out a 38LB propane auger with a spare bottle or two. If I wasn't so stubborn I would have had a sled and gas auger years ago, cause I can certainly afford it. I just really enjoy walking out and cutting my own holes. Kinda the same feeling I get walking out to my vegetable garden and getting fresh veggies instead of driving to the grocery store. Hopefully I get it figured out soon....first ice isn't that far away
  21. How can you possibly pick a Lightfoot favourite? But this is one of mine.
  22. I'd take it all winter too..when I was your age. It 48 I'm still trying to get a little exercise by sticking with being a walker and cutting my own holes with a manual auger. But it is getting just a little tougher every year. So I decided to look into power augers and STILL walking out for exercise. A 38LB auger is just way more then necessary with all the other choices out there.
  23. I was afraid of that. That's about 12LBs more then I'm willing to lug around as a walker.
  24. How much does that unit weigh Mike?
  25. I was thinking last Sunday was my last boatride for perch this fall...but now after seeing your pictures ...I might have to haul her up for one last go tomorrow. Glad you and the pooch got out.
