  1. What everyone else said about Mountsberg. If they haven't opened the dam the bass fishing is fantastic in Guelph lake. I went once after the dam was open..... I had no idea where the fish were.
  2. I am a big fan if the Mojo bass rod I bought off of my cousin. (He sold it because he was nervous using something that expensive). I can't get over how sensitive it is.
  3. Bass opener started slow for me this year. :(

  4. Someone pllllleaaase convince me fishing in Alberta lakes isn't terrible.

  5. I have to always say 'last cast' for my last cast of the outing. And regardless what I catch on that last cast, it must be the last cast.
  6. Dang it Jaques, my mouth is watering. Those look delicious.
  7. My biggest. Up at Bluffy Lake in ear falls. Caught on 4 pound fluro, no leader.
  8. See, but I have no problem if you're targeting crappie. This lake has zero crappie, zero pike. It has perch, walleye, bass, muskie. If you were in 3 feet of water tossing a 4 inch spinner bait into docks, I think it would probably look a little suspect too. When I'm out on the water, I love it. I caught nothing but some sunshine this weekend and I loved it. I was happy to be alive and outdoors and even just washing a few lures. Like I said, someday I hope to have kids and show them the same thing.
  9. No pike in the lake. Only bass, walleye, muskie (Which are also OOS). I give people benefit of the doubt until proven otherwise but pitching docks in May is just bad form.
  10. Good call. Thanks for the good advice guys.
  11. Was up on the deck. didn't get a chance to. I didn't mean because of the boat. 4ft of Milfoil I totally agree with you on that one, but the guy who really burned my bacon was pitching and flipping under docks. I haven't fished a lifetime but I've never caught a walleye under a dock with no surrounding veg before.
  12. If I'm out of line on this, please someone tell me but this really bugs me. My parents have owned a cottage in the Kwarthas before I was born and our lake is fortunate (after this weekend I'm thinking unfortunate) enough to have great bass, walleye and muskie fishing. With the long weekend and walleye being open there were a lot of people on the lake. As a rule, I have a couple of spots that I like to hit up for a walleye but if I catch a bass I won't go back to that spot until after bass opener (call me a little neurotic but I don't like bothering or hooking into spawning fish) There were a few spots I saw people fishing, rocky shoals and weed beds in <4 feet of water where I knew all they would catch are bass but I kept my mouth shut as, they are just trying to have fun and probably didn't know where to target walleye. What really really got me was, on sunday afternoon, a guy with a a bass boat worth more then my car, comes trolling by all of the docks on our side of the lake, tossing what looked like a spinner bait in and around all of the docks. Now, again, don't judge a book by its cover, but this guy looked like he knew all too well what he was doing and all he would have been doing is pulling spawning bass off of their nests. Has it got to the point where people just don't care anymore? The mentality of 'I'm going to catch the fish I want, when I want and unless I get a ticket I'm going to keep going?' Don't get me wrong, I like keeping fish for dinner as much as the next guy, but I would really like it if, when I have children or grandchildren, I can take them out to catch more then just White Sucker an Carp.
  13. Threw everything at the fish this weekend, just no takers. Ah well, the summer is young.

  14. People get skunked in Vermillion Bay? Sheesh, I thought that was impossible.
  15. I hear the fish at the cottage calling me. They say "glub glub glub"

  16. You know what I can never figure out? As a diehard leafs fan, I want them to do as well as possible, but as soon as they miss the playoffs, I cheer for every other Canadian team INCLUDING the Sens and Canadians. I'd love to see the cup north of the boarder for the first time since 1993. Now I do have a hiarchy (Leafs, Flames, Oilers, Jets, Canucks, Canadians, Sens) but I can tell you I'll be cheering for the Sens over the Penguins. Why is it that a fan of any other team in Canada can't be a fan of 'Getting the cup back into Canada' vs 'The leafs suck'. Would no one else have loved to have seen Leafs vs Sens this year in the Conference finals? Nope. Lets have another boring Penguins vs Bruins rematch.
  17. Everyone keeps saying this. You won't find another defenseman like Phaneuf kicking around in free agency. Should he be getting 6.5? No way. Should he be captain? Probably not, but it will take years to replace him. Maybe when Riley comes up, sure but for now, hold on to him just give him less responsibility.
  18. I...... can't...... even........ what a disaster.
  19. Unbelievable. I've seen the Gretzky debacle of 93' so this was the second biggest leafs disappointment of my life.
  20. The blindside. The QB never sees it coming. Seriously though, what he said. Mostly in crayfish colour. Though as of last year, the dropshot minnow is pretty key.
  21. If you forget the net, camera and pliers, you will catch the biggest pike you have ever seen. (Musky if there are no pike in the lake)
  22. Beauty bow. Totally worth the trip for a nice fish like that.
  23. Thanks for the chuckle Terry. I can't stop laughing.
  24. Hope it warms up for friday. Crappie followed by perchfest.
