  1. Your fine. I use the same thing, and tow my 17fter all over the place. No worries. S.
  2. With the kids we slow trolled worm harnesses. Its just easier for the kids. We only ran two rods, and the kids reeled all the fish in. When I go myself, I like to cast cranks, or jig them. the key is deep main lake weed edges. S.
  3. Man, your doing something horribly wrong. I took two 8 year olds out on the weekend, and they had thier limit in about 2 hours. I didn't even put a line in the water, and that's not counting under slot fish. Next time your in the area, get in touch. S.
  4. I like the least amount of hardware on my trailer. Less problems. As few connections as possible. The more goodies you've got on there, the more headaches you get into. S.
  5. Weird stuff Cliff. I might have to come up and see if its the angler, or the lake I might know a spot or two where you could catch a couple eyes.
  6. You need separate bulbs.
  7. There are lots of launches. Bewdley or gores landing are probably the most common if your coming from the GTA. S.
  8. The lake is at normal summer level. Fish deep weed edges with deep diving cranks, worm harnesses, jerkbaits or jigs. Where are you launching from?? S.
  9. They are easy to catch if you know where to be, and when. Also what to use, the right depth, temp, and location. Sometimes you can't go wrong. We've been doing very well on the eyes for the last week. They're smashing everything. Fish aggresive. S.
  10. I"d say you have a bad battery. Get it load tested, and you'll know for sure. S.
  11. Again, a pic would really help you, get help. The board works best for me. S.
  12. Don't touch your carbs until you know for sure its not something else. It sounds like carbon build up to me. Run the can of seafoam thru a tank, and see what happens first. Slow trolling on a 40hp two stroke causes a lot of build up, trust me I know. I do the same with my 40. Once you've run the can of seafoam thru it, add an ounce or two to each tank from then on. Its also a stabilizer, gas line antifreeze, and fuel system cleaner. It will help, I guarantee it. Don't mess with your jets until you've tried it, you could cause more serious problems. S.
  13. Stupid laws are for stupid people. Stupid people spawn more stupid people. I say we let them thin themselves out a little. Sorry if that seems a little harsh, but that's my opinion on the matter. S.
  14. Could also be carbon build up. I'm assuming this is a 2 stroke. Go to a NAPA dealer and pick up a can of seafoam. Put the whole can in a full tank of gas and taker for a rip. Should help some. Watch out for all the smoke.....its gonna be thick if you've never de-carbed that engine. Slow trolling is a big cause of unburnt oil, which leads to extra carbon build up, and lumpy idling. Giver a shot, it won't hurt anything. S.
  15. My grandfather spent over 70 years on the north atlantic...........as well as most of my family. None of them ever wore a lifejacket, and my Pop couldn't swim a stroke to save his life. A little common sense goes a long ways. Pop is still out there as much as anyone else, still no PFD. He does, however, have his boaters license S.
  16. Jig lightly. When you see the armada of boats out there ripping thier williams........don't do what they're doing. Most of their fish are snagged. Just a light jig, hit bottom on every drop, and lift it about 8" each lift.....nice and slow. S.
  17. Too bad you didn't get any fish OP. We did great out there, but we got most of them from 6am, till about the time you got set up out there..... LOL. I was the first boat launched out of sibbalds that morning, and when we got back in, I had to unhook my trailer from the car to get out of my parking spot. What a mess of people, I've never seen so many. Once we finished with the whities, we pounded on the perch. Got a good feed of them too S.
  18. They all work well if you maintain them. I've tried them all. Right now I'm using two walleye-1 batteries, and they're awesome. If my bowmount is in the water, I'm pretty much always slow trolling for walleye. The motor is going constant. I get about 7 hours of trolling, at at least half power on a 55lb minnkota PD, from one battery. If I hook them both together, I get more than double that. Even on a windy day. If I"m just using the bowmount for positioning the boat, I can go a full weekend, no problem off two batts.....and then some. S.
  19. Last time I was there the launch was free. I would report is just as lipdip did. If you know what your doing, you'll have fun catching fish in the obcvious spots. S.
  20. EH! Nice trailer!! P.S......watch your head.......all the rest can be fixed!! S.
  21. IF you go with the power drive, get an extra foot pedal right now, you'll need it sooner or later, trust me S.
  22. Same here. My go to rod for most anything is a 7' UL shimano clarus, with a 2500 Diawa Laguna. Its a slick set up, that works for just about anything. It gets a lot of use. I also use the diawa on the ice, so it gets a lot of use. No problems in the 3 or 4 seasons I've put it thru. I'm going to get another one. S.
  23. Any lake up there is loaded with bass. They're a PITA! Get rid of a few for me!! S.
  24. It depends what your going to use it for. I don't like the cable steers, but only because I don't fish for bass. I like to sit at my tiller, and steer the bow mount. I mostly use mine for trolling/drifting eyes though. S.
  25. I'll second the worm harnesses.
