Ok, now this sounds more like it. He won't get charged with anything, the truck will get recovered, and he will get a new one. Worste thing for him is his premiums will go up. Unless the gas tank breaks open, there will be no fines from MOE. Its not considered polluting until a certain amount of contaminant enters the environment, and most passenger vehicles don't fall into that bracket. I've looked into this many, many times, and in my case, I'm fully covered to drive on the ice. No exemptions. If my car goes thru, I have full coverage from recovery to injuries. S.

I would love to know where you guys come up with this stuff??? Careless driving?? Seriously? I highly doubt it..... I have full coverage if I go thru the ice. I made sure it was quite clear when i talked to my insurance company about it, and even got them to send me a letter stating so. What are the charges your talking about?? Please explain if you wouldn't mind. S.

I"ve never heard about these fines you guys are talking about??? S.

I shudder to think of how this guy could drive out on that ice with his whole family in the truck!! Glad to hear they all made it out safely, but the driver needs a swift kick in the S.

Portable Electric Drill to auger through ice
Sinker replied to Billy Bob's topic in General Discussion
I'd get a finbore myself....but if the lazer is more available to you, go for it. I know CPH's lazer cuts pretty quick! I've seen them cut hules with the drills, but never tried it myself. Everyone I've talked to who was using one, said it was the cats I'm a sucker for punishment, and still use the 8" for panfish. S. -
I have a few pfleuger reels, and like solo, I'm sold on them. I'm a diawa reel guy from way back, but the pfluegers are well worth the price, and just as good as any shimano or diawa I've owned. Even the president series are great. I have 3 of them, and tend to use them a lot more than any others, and my kids use them as well. To say they take a beating is an understatment. Super smooth, light, and the drags are awesome. S.

Portable Electric Drill to auger through ice
Sinker replied to Billy Bob's topic in General Discussion
They work alright Bob. I wouldn't go bigger than 6", and don't expect to drill a million holes. A good, quality, drill makes a big difference. Harder ice is actually easier to drill thru. The soft white layered stuff is much harder. You won't need it this year. I can drill thru 6" of ice in about 4 seconds lol. By the time you get your drill hooked up, I'm already fishing! No need for gas. I use a hand auger for everything, but I do have the knack for it, and my height (and strenght ) surely help! S. -
Simetimes fishing with the kids is a PITA, but its always worth it. They don't forget those days, so just do your best to keep it fun, and they will want to go again. It gets easier the more you take them out. S.

If your going on tues or wed, let me know :thumbsup_anim: S.

A williams ice jig is simply a williams whitefish, flipped upside down, and side hooks added. I prefer the hammered spoons myself. s.

You can get them at any electrical supply shop. Usually around 20-30 bucks. S.

I always look for shallow, muddy bays, close to deep, main basin drop offs. They will cruise the lake in search of food. Under the ice, I think they just keep on doing laps, and never really stay in one general area. In my experience, setting up in a good looking location, and waiting always pays off. It gets boring if they aren't biting, but that's what the fire on shore and hot food is for I've never had much luck on rocky bottoms, or rock faces in the winter, but in the summer, that's what I target. If you can find shallow fertile water near those types of structure, your golden. They will cuise right under the ice, in shallow, feeding on "critters" they can't usually get to during other times of year. S.

I can't icefish without electronics anymore either. And i have outfished guys using flashers, while I had nothing before as well. It will increase your catch rate for sure. And worste case scenarion, you will at least know there are fish down there that just don't want to bite, instead of thinking there are no fish in the lake. Best confidence tool I own! S.

macho minnows buckshots half and half williams ice jig #50 (side hooks removed, upgraded treble) jiggin raps (w5 & w7 end hooks removed, up grade the treble) swedish pimples Thats all ya really need for walleye thru the ice. If those don't work, nothing is going to work. I always have a macho minnow tied on, and my second rod is either a jiggin rap, or the williams half and half. I like to put 2 small minnows on my jigs, sometimes even 3. Electronics are the key to finding out what they want. The only jigs I use for walleye with no bait is the jiggin raps, and sometimes a chubby darter or lindy darter. Otherwise, i always use bait for eyes. Even just a minnow head makes a difference IMO. I've been trying out the new northland fish fry jigs. Forget the actual name, but they are the new horizontal type of blade baits. So far no fish, but lots of action on them. The action on them is sweet! S.

There is a line of pack ice out there between port bolster and beaverton that guys are doing well on. You'll see it. s.

Ok, I have an 18 year old outboard that has only seen premium fuel. NEVER an issue. We have a jiffy auger that is over 20 yrs old, nothing but premium. Never an issue. Have multiple chainsaws, nothing but premium, NEVER an issue. Weed whacker, generators, ATV's, Snowmobiles.....you get the point. I've never in my life had a fuel related issue. Ever. Period. Never blown a motor, never, ever had an issue running premium, so I'll stick to it. S.

I'll be working, but my kids will be there! S.

Thats definitely a humpback creeper. Caseys in port bolster has a few of them, as well as tight lines in pickering. I prefer the shoal diggers too. Meegs work good, but the paint doesn't stay on, and the hooks fall out. They have THE BEST action though. Humpbacks are good too, but they lay over on thier side when they hit bottom. The shoal diggers have great paint, awesome hooks, and they last forever . Matzuo work just fine too, until the paint comes off. Thier hooks are a little flimsy, and need sharpening all the time. S.

Well I'll run my ethanol free fuel thru everything I have, and you run your corn gas thru your stuff, and we'll all be happy. I'd rather not have to worry about it, thanks. Most premium fuel still has ethanol folks. The only fuel I can find with NO ethanol is Shell V-power. I run it in everything. S.

The one we built was way back in the bush, so they NEVER wanted to come back in that laneway again LOL They made sure to bring lots, and I 'm pretty sure the guy paid cash for the package and got an even better deal. S.
-
I built one. i think it was 24x32, plain jane, rectangle box with a gable roof. They gave us tons of extra material. The only thing that we didn't have excess of was good straight fascia board. The guy I built it for still has all kinds of left over material, and we did that about 10 years ago now. S.

Oh, I fully understand the "jist" of it all, trust me. I deal with this stuff daily. Most people who purchase an ATV, buy them with the intent of using them "off road". I've never seen the 2 up rule enforced, nor do I know of a charge laid. In fact I have ridden as a passenger, on an OPP 2 up machine on several occasions. As long as both people have a helmet, and all the proper paper work, LEO's turn a blind eye..........until you hit a "road". Make sure and read the definition of a road in the ORVA. Get yourself a nice can am 2 up, and take your wife for a ride anytime you want, just stay off the roads. The ganaraska forest is a perfect place to go for a ride. Trails open May 1st for motorized use. 11,000 acres of forest, and hundreds of kilometers of trails to ride. They also allow utv's on the primary forest roads. S.
-
you won't have any issues with a 2 up machine, unless you have a passenger on the back while riding on the road. OPP will not enforce the 2 up rule. Most of them, if you ask, don't even know the proper answer when you ask them. I deal with them a lot at my job, and even patrol with them a few weeknds each summer. You will not have a problem, until you are ON a ROAD. Fisherman, you need to lighten up a little. S.
-
Yep, it will be mostly yamaha. Mine is a '93, 2 cylinder, 2 stroke. Its a 50:1 mix, and use good oil. S.
-
The two up rule is hardly enforced. I work in an area of high atv use, and come across this question all the time. A utv will get you a fine on the roads. A proper 2 up ATV, usualy, will not. The trails up in the kawartha highlands area are fairly narrow. You'd be best with an ATV, either 2 up, or not. S.
