  1. I can't seem to get on the crappies, but the perch are willing Found some 44 degree water, and it was full of these guys Crappies are next on my hit list. I've tried them twice now with nothing to show, so the third time is a charm, and i have just the spot! S.
  2. I left there empty handed last week.
  3. If its not leaking, just leave it alone. Why fix whats not broken? S.
  4. Just leave it there. It was probably a leaking rivet that was replaced with a screw and sealer. S.
  5. Rice is wide open. Was out yesterday. No crappies, but we caught every other specie! S.
  6. Most lakes are now open around here. Should be lots of opportunities for fishing this weekend. I'll be chasing crappies myself, but might venture over to simcoe for some perch action too. Its game on. I had the boat out for the second time yesterday!! S.
  7. I was referring to heavy leaders...50lb+......musky/pike leaders. S.
  8. I've never used one either.... S.
  9. Did they have to pay to get saved, i wonder? Who would get the bill...the team? Or each guy? Sounds fishy to me
  10. What are we fishing for? Ice or soft water? It makes a difference to me.... S.
  11. the guys rescued were leafs players?? Say wut?? S.
  12. So, did you guys hear about the two guys rescued again today on an ice floe? WTH are these guys thinking?? S.
  13. Nope, no specks in there anymore S.
  14. I tend to agree with pikeslayer around here lately. :wallbash: S.
  15. I generally tend to agree with pikeslayer around here lately. Regardless, those IDIOTS shouldn't have been out on that ice. S.
  16. I usually just give them a good hard pull/stretch to get them straight when new, but they last for so long, I haven't had to replace any since I got my first few leaders. S.
  17. Dave's info is dated, but still good. Great area, I've had a place in wilverforce for near 30 years, and it is a great area. Lots of great fishing. Miskwabi is still good for lakers thru the ice, but I've never fished it from the boat. All kinds of great back lake troutin up there, I love it! If its bass you like to fish for, you'll be in heaven. I'll watch for your plate up there! S.
  18. Thanks for taking the time Beans. Looks like its going to be a while before the boat will go in on that end of the lake. Maybe Gannons narrows has a little more open water. I'll have to go for a drive and see! S.
  19. Tie them on your rod, hook the clip on your hook holder, and reel the line tight. Leave it there over night, and it will be straight, and will stay straight. One thing I love about fluoro leaders is they don't get kinks like steel. S.
  20. I'd say they're fine.
  21. I hope everyone who reads this understands that it was an offshore wind that caused the problem. NEVER venture out on ice that ends at open water, with an offshore wind....EVER. Any thickness of ice can crack and go adrift with the wind. I'm sure there were some guys out there who just didn't know better, or never even gave the wind direction a thought, but there were guys out there who were just taking a chance. They are all VERY lucky to be alive. Don't mess with Mother nature. She has no mercy, and will kill you in a second. She's a force not to take chances with. S.
  22. That's all I ever do to my batteries. As long as they were charged when you left them there, they should be fine. Hook them up to your charger and charge them up. They should be fine. S.
  23. To season the cast iron, throw it in the oven at 425 with a little oil in it for about a half hour, or until its really smoking hot. Don't ever wash it with soap, just wipe it off with a rag, and apply a thin coat of oil. My cast iron pans are as non stick as any "non-stick" pans you can buy. Throw an egg in a dry pan, and its as slippery as snot on a doorknob! S.
  24. I'm with Dax. Is there a trailer with it? Any accessories? S.
  25. I'm kinda partial to the P-line Fluoroclear. Its a combo of mono coated in fluoro. Same qualities as mono, only more abrasion resistant. I haven't had any issues with it so far. I use 2-4lb myself on a 7' ultralight. S.
