  1. Does the gauge say it needs recharged? TROY does ours at work, but ive never had a single done before. S.
  2. I find CLR works pretty good for harwater build up. Makes my showerhead, coffeemaker, and dishwasher like new again. Im not sure id want the smell of it on my tackle. I switch all my hooks to red one....they dont rust! S.
  3. I can't see this happening from just rain water. Did you check the lower unit before storage?? My engine has sat outside tilted up for the last 20 years, and always has a bit of water/ice in there. Never had an issue. Sorry to hear this, but I have a feeling your lower unit was full of water to start with. I hope I'm wrong..... S.
  4. First question is: what do you want to do with it? Fishing? Driving? Both? I have a few GPS's. On the ice I use a cheap garmin Etrex that I load waypoint onto, or mark while im out. It works great for getting to and from a fishing hole, but thats about it. I also carry it in the bush, just in case. On the water I use a lowrance, with navionics. In the car, I dont use one. S.
  5. Most people will let you if you ask. Have you been to the ganaraska forest? Lots in there too. S.
  6. This is exactly what I'm thinking. S.
  7. None of this means diddly if he's wearing it icefishing. S.
  8. I have a friend whos 8yr old son was killed doing just that. Just sayin... S.
  9. Ya, protackle is your best bet. Canadian tire in belleville has a pretty good fishing department, but not sure if they have flashers. S.
  10. Its not the rod that catches the fish S.
  11. Could you imagine doing that up here B? Hahaha....instant 911 call lol! I miss it. Thanks. Now im homesick! S.
  12. Yep, ive broken a couple st croix too. My favourite ice rod for larger fish is an old mitchell brush'n rod. 36" of power, and I cant break it if I try. For pannies, you need a whole different set up...I like ML, because I break the real light rigs all the time. I use a slip bobber for the light biters. P.s....spend some coin on the reel. its the reel that will lose that big fish. The rod will be fine, but a stiff, frozen, reel that doesnt work well, and has a cheap drag is good for nuthin! I use my quality reels soft and hardwater. S.
  13. Im with Roy. If your selling those units, please let me know. S.
  14. Merry Christmas Brian! S.
  15. Screw that! Im off till the 6th....family, hunting and fishing....that is all! S.
  16. All good here just outside millbrook, but have friends close by who are out. Its a lot worse south of here....newcastle, bowmanville and parts of oshawa were still shut down this morning. Im good to go here. No worries. Going for a quick hunt in the morning, then getting the christmas festivities going If anyone around my area needs anything, just ask. S.
  17. Power hasnt even flickered here wayne, but cant speak for balieborough. Friends just down the road lost power.... S.
  18. Well, I live just outside millbrook and didnt get any calls like that, and I was in port hope today and didnt see any disasters.....weird. S.
  19. You wont find me whining Lew! It just seems like evry little weather event these days is the end of the world. Really, whats the worst case scenario? We lose power for a few days...maybe a week? its not life or death for me, so I just do like wayne and go to bed, and get up in the morning. I know me and mine will be fine. I guess im always prepared and never really put much thought into it. I guess its the media hype that bothers me the most. S.
  20. If any of mine come down, they are the ones I planned on taking down anyways. The rest are good healthy trees....shouldnt be a problem! S.
  21. Its pretty thick on the car.... S.
  22. Heres the view out my back door right now.
  23. Dont fall for the media hype. Preparing for storms is a little paranoid if you ask me. Enjoy it, we dont get a good one often enough! People have forgotten how to survive in one generation. S.
  24. Its not that bad yet wayne. We'll be fine. I kinda like the adventure of it. My trees are on good shape, its gonna take a lot more ice than this to knock them over....i think!
  25. Our power hasnt even flickered here yet, but im expecting it to at any time. Id say we have close to an inch of ice on everything here. My mature maples are still holding up, but im getting concerned. Its only getting worse right now. We're all good though. Lots of food, water, fuel and firewood. S.
