  1. Great deal for loomis, it only costs them a fraction of that to build them! I have a lot of shimano lifetime rods. This new deal sucks. S.
  2. We used to stay at a place on Buck lake.....the name escapes me right now, but I think it might be buck lake resort. Great spot, and good fishing. The place FF mentioned on Big Gull is nice too. A buddy of mine has a cottage on Big gull, good fishin for walleyes on the long weekend! Beautiful area of ON. I love it out that way. S.
  3. Right on, great day fella's! Good on ya Pete! S.
  4. They dont NEED anything, but WANT everything these days. I worked for everything I have. My parents didn't leave me a choice. I jumped at any chance to make a buck when I was a kid. S.
  5. I never use a snubber either. For chinooks I run 50lb fluoro and never had one break off, but like Bill says, keep the drag so its barely slipping on an outside turn. For lakers you will be fine with the 15lb and no snubber. S.
  6. Sorry CLiff, I have to work. S.
  7. At a certain point, letting more line out will actually bring the dipsy up. Keep that in mind. I dont think you'll get them down much deeper than 60-70ft max. The real advantage is they take your rig out to the side, away from the boat. Ive caught lots of salmon on a dipsy on 0 straight down the chute though! S.
  8. Go deep. Heavier jigs, and deeper diving baits. Ive cauught walleye in 60fow at that time of year on pigeon. Big live minnows help. Trolling over deep open water has coughed up some big muskies in that area too. 10" believers work great! S.
  9. Keep the length from dipsey to lure the length of your rod. Any longer and you will have a real hard time netting fish. With a 0 dipsey on setting 0 I can hit bottom in 65fow. I cant remember how much line I had out....over 200ft, on 50lb braid. On #3 setting, out 220ft I touch bottom in 50ft. S.
  10. Did you check thhe exceptions for icefishing though? S.
  11. I love my evening trips after work. Get home, have a quick dinner, and hit the water till dark o clock. - did it tonight. No better way to relax after a hot day at work! S.
  12. Always enjoy your adventures! Thanks for sharing! S.
  13. Thats a beauty for the kawarthas! Congrats! S.
  14. I like your style Bruce. Good stuff!!! We do the same things in our home too. Its the only way to know where your food comes from! S.
  15. No, she doesnt need anything but a PFD to go for a boat ride. S.
  16. Hey Simon, Will you adopt me? Please? I'm a great net boy, but I'm not sure I can catch fish like Jack does!!! That kid HAS IT!!! S.
  17. You believe everything you read on the internet? Sure, it might be busy, but weed infested? Nope, not at all. If you don't connect with a musky your doing something wrong on pigeon. So much structure, and lots of fish. Where abouts on the lake will you be? Maybe I can help ya out a little. S.
  18. This might help http://www.navionics.com/en/webapp-limited S.
  19. I'd taker for another good rip and see if it will blow out. Sometimes the seafoam takes a while to work things out of the system. No doubt, there is lots of crud worked out of it. If that fails, its time for a proper carb clean and set up. S.
  20. Braid is perfect. Bring a med set up, and a med heavy/heavy. If you can get on a boat you could get into some cod, but more likely mackeral or squid from shore. Your going to love it. If the squid are in, go at night....you'll have fun. Take pics! S.
  21. I have that same knife Kickingfrog, and use it almost daily. I carry a smaller buck in my pocket everywhere I go and use it many times daily. Im lost without a knife in my pocket. S.
  22. I started my kids with the "kids" rods, and noticed the trouble they had with them right away. Just try using one yourself....its not easy to fish with shoddy equipment. I ended up getting them decent set ups at an early age, because it made it a lot easier for them. They're smart, they'll figure it out quick. There arent many things more exciting to a child than catching a fish. Once the seed is planted, it grows like wildfire. S.
  23. Pretty incredible trip Drew. Awesome that Brenda and yourself get to share these trips. Those are some sweeeeeet lakers! The grayling aint to shabby either! Crazy fires, eh? I have a cousin that lives in yellowknife who's been sharing photos and stories, as well as two good friends up there fighting fires. Ive never experienced fire like that. Thanks for sharing, im sure i'll be back for a re-readd once or twice more S.
  24. Good stuff Mike!! Thats what its all about right there! S.
  25. Thats about the only place around for minnows. There is another small shop in lakefield, but I dont know the name. Its right on the main drag on the west side. S.
