  1. Jon Fitch is one of the best welterweights in the game right now, but being in such a stacked division, with guys like St. Pierre, Hughes, Penn, Sanchez, Koscheck, Parysian... no one gets to see him. Luigi will be much bigger than Fitch having fought before at 185, but although Fioravanti has hands of steel, Fitch is much more rounded, and I think he will take a decision. As for Kampmann/McFedries... Kampmann is a much better technical fighter, having submitted Wallace and picked apart Thales Leites in his last fight, but when has he shown us any power ?? His striking is almost as technical and precise as Anderson Silva, but not with KO power. If this fight goes past round 2, Kampmann will take a decision. If not, McFedries who will be a HUGE middleweight, will land a KO right.
  2. Couture couldnt take out Liddell again ... there's n oway he can take out Tim Syvlia, he's just too big and powerful. I would love for Randy to pull of an upset, but it won't happen. Sylvia by 1st round TKO, maybe rd. 2. Hughes will TKO Lytle in Round 1. Franklin TKO on MacDonald in round 1. Babalu will submit Lambert in Rd. 2. McFedries will KO Martin Kampmann Hamill will win a decision over Holman. Jon Fitch will win a decision over Luigi Fioravanti Gilliam will win a decision over Jamie Varner. And Gleison Tibau will submit Jason Dent. My predictions here on OFC.
  3. yeah herring are still closed year round on simcoe and all of the fish were put back. I was fishing in 30 fow and coudlnt get my bait to the bottom without hooking herring. I moved about 50 yards or so, and it was the same deal. Eventually, they moved through, but I ended up catching 15 or 20 of them. But like I said, they were all released immediately.
  4. I'm heading out at about 7am to Oro/Shanty Bay to do some fishing for whities and lakers. I'm a newbie to deep water fishing, but I tangled with a whole bunch of herring the other day while perch fishing, and it got me interested in the lakers and whities. Anyone wanna tag along or have any tips for me ?
  5. Friday, February 23 (Lake Nipissing) Kelli and I arrive to Lake Nipissing at about 2:30pm and are greeted by Carl and Randy of Grump and Grumpy's Ice Fishing Adventures, my 3rd trip with them. We drive out to our huts and unpack, our first line goes down at around 3:00pm. Kelli has the first fish by about 3:01pm, a little 6 inch perch. About two minutes later, as I am still setting up my rods, Kelli's rod is bent right over and as it gets to the hole, I hear oh my God, whuddid I get? whuddid I get? It was her first herring! Action was steady until dark, and then it died for the night. We had a feed of perch, played some Crazy 8's, watched a DVD and went to bed. Saturday, February 24 (Lake Nipissing) We awake at about 6:00am and set new minnows on our untouched lines. Action was slow with only a few perch until noon, but then the perch and herring began biting once again. Minnows accounting for the majority of the fish, but maggots on a Marmooska also taking plenty of fish. Dark made its way back and the card table came back out. During our game of Crazy 8's we landed 5 perch and a mudpuppy, the rods kept bouncing, and as the table went away for the night, a rod bent right over and Kelli was experiencing her first real battle of the trip. The 6 pound whitie emerged through the hole and I grabbed hold of it just as the line broke. Thank God I had a good grip, or did I? Nope, plop down the hole she goes. Kelli was pretty dissappointed in me, but thats how fishin goes! Sunday, February 25 (Lake Nipissing) Well my eyes open up at about 3am to see my tip up straight up in the air! I lunge out of bed and grab it only to feel nothing. I set it back down and it is bouncing, so I bring it up and it had another line tangled in it, with an 11 inch perch on it, YOINK in the bucket, lines back down, ass back in bed. 5am ... CRASH. There's a rod in the hole, I set the hook, 4 big head shakes and she's off. Who knows, but it's 5am, I'm still sleeping. Finally at 6, I got out of bed and fished until about noon with LOTS of perch being caught. Also lost a rod down the hole, to what I can only assume was a pike. All in all, great trip, Randy and Carl are great and I recommend them to anyone! Monday, February 26 (Little Lake) Got out to Little Lake in Barrie for a few hours in the afternoon, dropped 4 inch minnows down on set lines and got 6 LITTLE pike in a couple hours, not a bad way to kill time! Tuesday, February 27 (Lake Simcoe) Got out to my perch grounds today at around 1:00pm. Just got a new 30" light action rod, spooled with new 3lbs fluorocarbon. Right away I started catching em. Nothing big though, all 6-9 inch fish. I was fishing 30 fow alternating between live shiners and a marmooska/maggots. In 4 hours I caught about 70 perch, and probably 15 or 20 herring. I havent caught a herring for probably 4 years on Simcoe, but I couldnt get away from them today, wherever I'd move to, there were more herring! All were released, some perch kept for a feed tonight. Well, now I am up to date! I will be adding pictures later on, so check back on the report later on!

  12. That's too bad to hear. Two summer's ago, my cousin was killed in an ATV accident, he was only 22 years old! He got me started on fishing when I was about 4 and everything I now know, I owe to him. I'll miss him, as you will miss your cousin and as she would say, miss me but let me go.

  14. My grandfather has never really been fishing with me, but he is a big supporter of what I do, and even happens to have some spring fed brookie streams on his property, where I got my start. In October, my old man moved out to Saskatoon for a job opportunity so I dont get to see him much anymore, but I will always remember the fishing that we did together, he used to drive me everywhere to go fishing. We drove to VA, MI, DE, NC, MD, QUE all for us to go fishing and I love him for it, we learned alot about fishing, about eachother and developped a bond that I think most kids would dream of having with their dad. Below is a pic of the last time I fished with my dad, a pike tournament last June, which we won!
  15. good job man, i havent fished any crappie yet this season, makes me wanna get out.
  16. I've been to both. I liked to resorts better in Cayo Coco, but Varadero has lots more to do, away from the resort. If you want to do anything away from Cayo Coco, you need to take a LONG cab ride to do so, which can get expensive, it depends on what kind of vacation you're looking for. Varadero is more fast paced, there's shopping and all kinds of things to see. Cayo Coco is better if you want to just chill and enjoy your time relaxing on the beach! Also, good bass fishing can be found about a 45 min cab ride from Cayo Coco at La Redonda... got a couple over 7 when we went !!
  17. its not a far walk, maybe 50-100 yards from the breakwall and you'll be in deep water, you can go another 500 yards before it really drops off any more, no huts, all individuals.
  18. walk out from the marina into 30-40 fow and the size of the fish tend to increase, plus a chance at some whities.
  19. nice job brother. u just fishin out from the marina in 40 fow ??
  20. Got off to a quick start today on cooch and banged out a few nice 12 inchers, then around 11, the action just died. Only a few 5-6 inchers here and there after that. The nice 10+ inch fish that we did get were all in 15 fow on two different baits. Shiner on a small hook and split shot, and maggots on a marmooska jig. Hopefully next time we can tangle with em for a couple more hours, but overall not too bad. Pics are on a disposable as my digital batteries ran dry, freakin cold weather, so I wont have them for a while, sorry guys.
  21. looks like tons of fun.
