Sooooo... just got back from New york. It sucked. Apparently smallmouth enjoy NOT biting my tube, soooo what better to do than go hurt some fish up at my favourite lake. Yipee! It was fairly amazing, I finally got into some good spinnerbait fish and a nice topwater bite. Tubes also worked very well. Fish were deep today, 9-12 feet on weedlines and bottom transitions, its that time of year. My buddy Noel was up from the dirty shwa today to do some fishing and my g/f tagged along as well. Lots of fish to be had, lots in the 2-3 pound range, a couple close to 4. This one kicked the bucket, but its in a beer batter right now, first bass in like 5 years, honestly NOT looking forward to it. A couple nice ones. Kelli with her two biggest.... no dead fish haha Noel's taliban tactics spinnerbait fish Nice smallie to mix it up. wierd markings on thios topwater largie.

5 pounders can still be caught, but not in close to the numbers as it used to put out. Small lakes have to be kept hush hush or else they will be overfished, plain and simple, thats what happened at Eugenia. I used to go out and catch at least 1 five pounder every outing, usually 2 or 3 , sometimes 4 or 5. Now, I'm lucky to get 2 or 3 all season.

Well my girlfriend and her family have been up at Mikisew Provincial Park for the past week so I decided to go visit for a a couple nights after work on Friday. Got up there around 7pm on Friday and had some time to get some fishing done. Kelli and I got out to fish some shoals and landed 11 fish, 3 good ones. All fish were caught on flukes and a senko, in a prototype colour that I am working on (Pale Guacamole would describe it best) Saturday morning, we arose around 7am and headed out in the boat, the fishing was very slow, and the rain moved in, only caught 6 dinks. After a nap to let the rain pass, we headed back out for the late afternoon/evening bite, and it was on. We caught 23 fish on a mixture of topwaters and the Pale Guac senko. One of the fish is technically a PB for me, not the heaviest smallie I've caught, but definitely the longest. *My girlfriend tried very hard to make it a good pic, and it looks kind of goofy and pretty exaggerated, but I assure you the smallie went all of 23.5 inches* Kelli even got a 20.5 incher Thanks for reading. Good Fishing.

Well, I am determined to learn this dropshot rig, and let me tell you something, it requires patience. Although, I think that if I can get it figured out, I'll start putting some more good fish in the boat. My buddy Mat and I headed up to Lake Muskoka to try it out. I lost a nice pike right off the bat on a dropshot in 19 fow, not what we're looking for. I eventually landed one, and Mat switched to his Northam spinnerbait and started whacking them, nothing huge, but nice fish nonetheless. Stubborn me kept working the dropshot with nothing but 20 or so 7-10 inch fish to show for it. I'll drag a tube come tourney time, until I get the hang of this dropshot thing. I guess this shows that finesse is not neccessarily the best way to catch em. my only 'keeper' size fish of the day. Mat with a nice little guy on the SPBT A few nice ones for Mat

Well, I got out on the water yesterday for our Bass Pro Shops associate tournament on Pigeon Lake. Weather co-operated and most teams brought in a limit. We had 13.10, good enough for 4th place. The Kawarthas are not my style of fishery, I prefer DEEP water, however, we made do. 4 of our 5 Jeno and Tommy with their big fish. Today, Kelli and I got out onto G-Bay for some smallie fishing. We dropshotted gobies, and fished flukes around shoals, we ended up with 6 fish in 4 hours. Pretty slow today, but not bad overall.

Simcoe... Erie... G-Bay... Think again... However, thank you all for your comments, I will have many more reports to come.

WOOOOOOOOO The time was here!!! Goodbye brook trout, see you next year, the bass are now available ... muahaha. Anyways, our club decided to have a fun open tournament and headed out for a small 7am - 1pm tournament. The morning was slow, and we didnt have a fish in the boat until almost 10:30 (lost 3, broke off 3.... not a good start) however, once we got that first one, the action heated up. Senkos (Steve's Mustard made by ghostbaits.com), chatterbaits and smoke tubes were our baits of choice today. We ended up landing about a dozen keepers, and kept our biggest five for the tournament. We weighed in at 14.10 and placed 3rd. Winners had 18.8 pounds. After the tournament, a fellow competitors boat and I decided to go back out and try and pick up some more fish for the fun of it. Well, speaking of pick up, thats just what the wind did, and in turn, so did the spinnerbait bite!!! Brent with one of our culled fish Brent with another culled fish. Aaron and Sarah with their 4th place bag of 13.35 pounds Brent and I with our 3rd place bag Bill with his 2nd place bag of 14.65 pounds Scott and his partner with their bag of 18.80 pounds. THE AFTERMATH nice spinnerbait smallie Pike to add to the mix One bruiser, and one big one haha. Aaron with a PIG 6 pound smallie.

Headed up to my grandparents place in Hanover today after work and decided to walk some creeks in the area. Found an open field with long grass, and a DEEP hole, started drifting and started catching. My guess is that this is part of the Saugeen Watershed, but I'm not 100% sure. Caught 13 in all, all released, here's a few pics from today ...
