  1. Some good does come out of these crazy times! I managed to get back to something that I have not done for probably decades and that was to fish out of a canoe! A truly peaceful and serene day on the water, at least it was until the fish started to bite! As much as the roar of Yamaha 250 excite me, there is definitely something to be said about stealthily paddling around in a canoe. It was a memorable day with some beautiful fish and great company with good friend, Wil Wegman. BTW never mind the delicious fish afterwards!

  2. Hi all, This video is from almost 4 weeks ago, internet issues has me way behind on uploading videos. While I love fishing for walleye and look forward to the season opener with great anticipation it does not mean I sit and stare longingly at the open water for three weeks. Bass, Pike and crappie are open all year here and its not long after the last iceberg has been pushed to shore that I head out. Love the spring action, even though the pike were a bit conspicuous by there absence, well the big girls anyway.

  3. I like to fish this trib a few times a year. Up in the escarpments. Always fly fishing as I like it and it,s a challenge to me . Today the river bottom and the water color was way off. I was slipping on rocks walking. They seemed to have a slime on them. Water was way to cold and it was way to early for this type of findings. As for the color, it looked like it had just rain the night before, but no rain has been had in days. I fished 4 different section, and my findings were the same. And the bite was not like it use to be. I would always get 6" smolts or 12 inch fish . I had 2 takes this morning and they were very small. Wonder what is going on ? All areas I fished had lots of fast water and rocky bottom. The highlight of the morning was casting and really concentrating on my approach and landings ,when I was startled by a huge splash only 40 ft beside be. A doe had jumped down off a 6ft bank into the river. I was taken back and froze. Luckily I was up wind and she just stood there looking at me . Not sure what to make of it . I grab the camera slowly, click the on button to take a video and sure as crap,it goes beep, beep, and well, she snorts and runs off. I love those moments.

  7. That looks amazing, i am a wuss, I find canoe fishing extremely uncomfortable, nothing that a bit more discipline and self care would not fix though.

  8. Fabulous! There's a hundred bucks worth of halibut on that table, if a fellow bought it up here. Beauty job on the filleting! We ate our last package of halibut a couple months ago from a trip I did to BC. That one weighed 55 pounds and it was a dandy! Doug

  11. So wifey did another double batch of the asparagus soup yesterday. Two onions still left it 1/2 cup short so I grabbed a good handful of leeks to make up the difference. Well as good as this soup is the leeks added a wonderful subtle flavour to the mix, just what I was hoping for. So good. We kept 1 1/2 cups aside for fresh eating and filled 7 containers for the freezer. I have a feeling there will be more batches made up over the next while. Freezer to table with frozen base is like 15 minutes or less if microwave is used.

  12. The 7 goes at the helm so when driving you can have split screen. Gps making and sonar the smaller one goes to the bow you should hook up the trolling motor transducer if you jig you see the bottom and your jig below the front. If you look at the networked transducer from the back You are seeing 16 ft away from your jig. you can run it off the trolling motor battery but I like to run them all off the main battery. In some cases less interference on the sonar this way

  13. I'd like to see them take on a BPS approach by adding marine accessories, motors, boats etc. At least I'd rather see them be able to compete with BPS and expand where BPS isnt, but I guess thats not on the table. One thing that really pi**ed me off about this covid thing is that Marks, CT, Home hardware and many other stores had to close and do /online and curbside, where walmart could operate business as usual because they were "grocery". They should have had to close off everything non-grocery. The Canadian comapnies take a another hit while a huge US corp racks up the profit. We need more protection of our valued Canadian chains and corporations. rant off good luck Sail, I'd quite like to see you survive

  14. Years ago I used to pinch a small Blackbird split shot on the shank of the rear treble to get it pointing down at rest. Increased hook ups dramatically. The other thing was using a dremel tool to hollow out the cup on the nose end to deepen and sharpen the edges. The bait WILL really pop and gurgle with very little movement afterwards. Gbay smallies love popR’s 😉

  15. NAHHHH ... I think they make Bayliners out of those, Craig. If there's anything left, they send it to Fenwick.
