  1. I have been trying to get out as much as I can this year, regardless of this Covid mess.. This is my 4th fishing trip. 4th camping trip, and 8th time paddling this year. So needless to say, it was about time i caught something!!!! The water was really high on the river, up about 3 feet for the usual level this time of year. I had to line a few spots that I normally don't need to. And had a couple spots we needed to portage that we could normally line. I earned my beer, lets just say that!! It was worth it though.... Got back to my truck and there was 2 CO's there waiting for me. Not sure how long there where there waiting. Everything checked out OK in my boat and in my cooler, and they where on there way. Very nice guys, from the Perry Sound detachment.

  3. Went out for my final pick of leeks today. This cold weather was a blessing, I could actually cover up well to keep the skitters at bay. Turns out I almost didn't even need any bug spray, this cold snap knocked then right down and I couldn't even hear the buzzing. Unlike the other days during the hot muggy weather when the skitters were crazy. I went out during that as the leaves were really starting to turn yellow fast. The bugs were so thick I decided to put on my mesh bug jacket, man those things trap in your heat so much it was literally like being in a sauna wrapped in plastic. I managed to last an hour and got 7-8 pounds. Next day my daughter came over for a pick. She was all sprayed down but only lasted maybe fifteen minutes before the skitters drove her out of the bush. Today I went to a different spot and about 30% of the plants were still green. In maybe 1 1/2 hour I got just under 8 lbs. I never use a shovel and always do my best to only pick the bulb and leave the rhizome and roots in the ground. Going to make up 5lbs of ramp butter and going to pickle up a few jars with a new recipe to try. I got a good 10 lbs of fiddleheads this season too so I'm happy with my spring foraging this year.

  4. Good morning Lew I was out this morning. I made my way out using my Shakespeare 55lb thrust electric motor. Top notch and gets me out there quick at a high speed of 3.6 mph. That 3 blade prop sure is sweet. My toon, built in china and shipped here to Canada, is one of the top ones out there. I was jigging with my awesomely fabricated Spro 1 pc 6.6 ft rod. Matched up with a ABU 4500 reel filled with power pro 30 lb test with a 8 ft,10 lb floro carbon leader. Great brand that Sufix is. I was using my home tied fly swim bait today. Great tied fly by that guy. I blame all the above sponsored products, as I did not catch anything . Still, thanks to my sponsors for allowing me to get out,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, 🤣 Have a great day B

  5. I made a small mistake, and he could have given me a really hard time about it. But we was really nice and didn't give me a ticket or anything. You just always need to be honest with them. All the time.

  8. I stopped watching TV fishing shows years ago mainly because most of them are nothing more than Infomercials and IMO the worst was always Fishful Thinking. I came in the den at 9:00 this morning and turned on the TV and sure enough it was Fishful Thinking. I wondered if anything had changed and sat down to watch it. Only took a couple minutes and he hooked into a Lake O salmon and by the time he had the fish in the boat he'd advertised ... I think ...7 different products. I turned it off and I spose it'll be another 5 years before I watch another fishing show.

  12. Wondering if all the "stop the drop" crowd is happy yet, that wouldn't listen that the issue was cyclic and spent millions of $$'s on studies and town hall meetings??!! Last week the "tide" came in to Penetang Harbour and had the entire wharf, parking lot and the Dock Lunch under water.

  13. I have a 16 foot Sylvan Super Snapper with a 40 HP Honda TILLER. It meets all your criteria. I bought this one because a buddy had one in Owen Sound back in the 80s and it was perfect for two anglers downrigging, even in bumpy water. He had a smaller engine, maybe 30 or 35 HP, and could troll on his. The 40 is too fast for trolling, so I put on a kicker plate and a 7.5 Honda when I was still downrigging. All that being said, I have no idea what prices are these days, and it sounds like stuff is more expensive than I would have guessed. The Sylvan has a nice hull and can take heavy water, but there are not a heck of a lot of them around. Good luck on your search! (and mine is not for sale...😉) Doug
