Hack_Fisherman Posted March 21, 2021 Report Posted March 21, 2021 Hey guys, a good coworker of mine gave me this monster spinning reel. I don’t know anything about it except it appears to be a salt water type of reel. Wondering what I can do with it. https://m.tackledirect.com/penn-purii6000-pursuit-ii-spinning-reel.html Do you guys think it would be up to the task for muskie or Great lakes salmon? It just looks too big for pike and bass.
glen Posted March 22, 2021 Report Posted March 22, 2021 I have a giant saltwater spinning reel. Easily handled 20# fish. Mine is heavy so trolling, live bait and some casting.
OhioFisherman Posted March 22, 2021 Report Posted March 22, 2021 https://www.capitolfishing.com/penn-pursuit-2-spinning-reels-p/p-pur.htm 21 ounces might make using it feel like work?
John Posted March 22, 2021 Report Posted March 22, 2021 good reel for casting 5oz weights off the beach....🙂
LeXXington Posted March 22, 2021 Report Posted March 22, 2021 Great reel for salt water casting big baits.

dave524 Posted March 23, 2021 Report Posted March 23, 2021 About the age of 30, which was 40 years ago I came to the conclusion that for mono over 10 pound or any trolling , level wind reels were the better choice.
