Buds a bloomed.  Looks like a good crop to me . Once the branch gets larger,I will tie it up to support the branch.

I bought some Epsom salts today and they say tomatoes benefit from the spray so I did peppers and tomatoes, we’ll see.

Here’s my hydroponics garden. The plants all seemed to have adjusted from soil to water fed nutrients. The plants have been in for two weeks

Not sure what up with this pepper. It is growing up ward. Might be the newfie bucket, not sure.LOL

 

I am finding a few tomato buds dying off. Not sure whats up with that . Maybe I trimmed to much ?

Brian that could be lack of water. Any container planting needs close attention to watering. 
Don’t worry as the pepper gains weight it will point down.

I always water every day but I guess not enough by what I just did . I just added ( and this is no b  s   ) 6 gallons of water total in all planters. That is a gallon in each . Finally after this,water was starting to sit on top. I have 2 planters that I never knew would allow water out at the bottom once the soil is saturated.

Will be keeping a closer eye and more watering.

No guru here. I bought 12 tomato plants and , Thought one was cherry so I put it in pot for easy access, very large and then I find out this pot has MINT roots How did that happen.  well the ground tomatoes have a ton of fruit/flowers  and the potted one only has flowers and is a foot shorter!  
I water it  but it dries out I guess Mint is taking over the pot.
If you can (I can’t) tap water has fluoride and other badies. Let it stand for 24 hours before you water. The chemicals will almost be gone. 
who knew on Canada  Day since 1960 I’d be giving advice to the best of us a Newf (can’t say that now) a real Canuck has ring to it. I’m a CunuckIT.

Like Albert mentioned in another thread, this weather has made gardening a real challenge.  I had 2 pepper plants wilt right down, but managed to care them back to health. They seem to be taking well now. I moved all the plants to a sheltered shade area the past few days. Put out in the sun for a few hours,then back to the shade. Tomatoes are few and none. 2 plants have a few, 1 has none. Peppers are growing. Chives well,I have had several cuts off them and they just keep growing and growing, like grass.LOL

Funny how the smallest pot has the 1st and biggest pepper.

Have you ever seen the shepherds sold in plant pots ? Next year I want to do that .

Yes you can buy the plants but they are small plants and have to be repotted , You need big pots. looks like your plants lack room for roots.

The pots are big enough, and well,the smallest pot has the big pepper.LOL

Next year, 5 gallon pails or a large plantation. Need to  talk to the condo community for this.

I have the five gallon pots don’t buy them! I’ll probably never grow another like this one. I had a yellow one just slightly smaller.

Just seeing this today Brian, I have been away from computer land for awhile. It is too late to try for this year but I would recommend Fafard Veranda Mix for any of your container growing. Once Debbe discovered it for our Flower pots at home and the cottage we have used nothing else. It really holds water well. The front of our cottage is all windows and we have a 7 foot deep roof overhanging the porch...so in the afternoon the sun just shines in there and the windows reflect heat and the roof traps the heat so it is very common for it to be  35-40 celsius on our front porch in the afternoon sun. And with all this going on our flower pots get watered twice a week during the weather we have had lately but most of the season when the weather is not as extremely hot or dry once a week is enough.  Like I said Brian for containers we use nothing else but the Fafard Veranda Mix.. A local nursery here in Oshawa has it every year and I grab two 112 litre size bags, but judging from your pictures I think one bag would possible get you through 2 seasons. However having said that  I would also recommend you go with bigger pots for next season. More soil equals more water retention and more room for root growth.  I really enjoy tending my veggie and herb gardens and my planters with herbs at the cottage. There is just something I really enjoy about growing food and it looks like the bug has bit you too. Good luck with whatever path you choose Brian.

My hydroponics plants were taking a beating from the sun; they face West with no afternoon shade; by 6pm they looked like dish rags. They live in nothing other than circulating water and nutrients; so it wasn't from lack of water. I then built a free standing sun shade, out of 1"X2" slats and stapled black nylon fly screen to the frame. Seems to be doing the job; sitting in front of the system. The sun can still get through and plants do not wilt anywhere near as much. The shade frame is light enough to pick up and move when I need to tend to the plants. An extra bonus is that the birds can no longer land on the tubes and get to the plants.

I don't have a pic of the stand from the front; but it sits in front of this and slops back at the same angle as the system does.

Here's a partial pic of the shade from the back side.

Got the idea from when I was driving past a ginseng field and seen the canopy covering the field.

My plants have done well since I put it up.

THIEVING BUGGERS

I had 2 small tomatoes that were just starting to get ready to pick. Can you believe it, someone or thing stole them right off the plant. I am thinking Fred. He had hope I do not catch him now. All this time and getting close to having a taste of my first crop, GONE.

 

At least I have a few on the other plant and the peppers are taking well. Time to put up the chicken wire I have left laying around.

Fred did not eat it! You may have other varmints! This is out of my realm to think that a tomato goes missing in the middle of the night. Terry!  Just joking . . 

I have tomatoes, zucchini, peppers (very hot) Swiss chard, Basil, parsley . .  The only thing I have lost is my beans (rabbit) some lettuce (same rabbit) I like him so he is safe.  I have lost a rabbit to a fox,  head was across the street, leg in my driveway. They were driven out hopefully by a guy cutting his bushes and found their den.
