dave524 Posted November 11, 2015 Report Posted November 11, 2015 What I can't get over is nothing from the US border states....I haven't seen anything from them. Crap don't flow upstream, no US below Montreal. There is also a 7500 litre leak of fuel from a cruise ship now too down around Quebec City.
bigugli Posted November 11, 2015 Report Posted November 11, 2015 You would be amazed at just how many cities and towns dump straight into our water systems on a regular basis, and during storm overflow events.
Sinker Posted November 11, 2015 Report Posted November 11, 2015 The town my dad lives in put in a high tech new sewer system a couple years ago. The town was excited, until they found out it would all end up in the harbour anyways. It was better for the environment before they put it in. Tons of crap gets dumped in the water every day. S.
Gerritt Posted November 12, 2015 Report Posted November 12, 2015 (edited) Purposely built wetlands here in Brighton, called waste water polishing. Pretty neat idea. Edited November 12, 2015 by Gerritt
Beavertail Posted November 12, 2015 Report Posted November 12, 2015 (edited) You would be amazed at just how many cities and towns dump straight into our water systems on a regular basis, and during storm overflow events. It does happen quite often, most times it's partially treated however. Don't think people would be happy with the alternative though...ie backed-up sewers and flooded basements. It has to go somewhere and treatment facilities can only handle so much. Edited November 12, 2015 by Beavertail
Sinker Posted November 12, 2015 Report Posted November 12, 2015 Purposely built wetlands here in Brighton, called waste water polishing. Pretty neat idea. Yes, and very effective. Should be used everywhere. The whole idea makes so much sense on so many ways, but engineers cant get thwir heads out of the sand long enough to let a system like that be approved. S.
Beavertail Posted November 12, 2015 Report Posted November 12, 2015 Polishing ponds are part of lagoon systems, quite simple and effective. Biggest problem is land requirement...not really applicable in bigger, urban centres.
Dontcryformejanhrdina Posted November 13, 2015 Report Posted November 13, 2015 I don't know what would stink worse, the ice or the Leafs.
esoxansteel Posted November 14, 2015 Report Posted November 14, 2015 Those Montreal Boys at least practice safe sex, lots of used Trojans floating to the surface, as shown on TV, those creamy white globuals is not Cormorant Poop floating on the surface
