Acountdeleted Posted January 9, 2015 Report Posted January 9, 2015 BUUUUUURRRRRBOOOOOOTTTTTT!!!! (Now I'm just having fun with this)! This sounds downright perfect.
Nipfisher Posted January 10, 2015 Report Posted January 10, 2015 The ice will be 15" or more by then so trucks/suv are not a problem. I will also have my truck there also. As posted above anyone wanting to join us and fish in and around my hut is welcome to. Lots of perch, small walleye, and some pike. The trip to the big lake will be via highway so no drinking for the drivers. With sleds it is only 10 minute ride but close to 40 minutes by truck.
Rod Caster Posted January 10, 2015 Report Posted January 10, 2015 Good point.... and the cops love setting up ride programs at dusk on the way back from the 2nd spot.
NAW Posted February 10, 2015 Author Report Posted February 10, 2015 Bumpity Bump. We're getting close!! Un-fortunately, my SUV has gone for a crap, so I won't be able to as hardcore as I wanted. Chad's gunna have to be my tour guide on the lake for the day! Still going to be a blast!
Rod Caster Posted February 16, 2015 Report Posted February 16, 2015 this forum has a terrible search function. Searched 'Nip'...nothing Searched 'G2G'...nothing Searched 'Blair's'....finally annnnyway.... it's gdam cold today, -32 right now and we have tons of snow on the lakes. I don't think I'll be driving my truck out there.
NAW Posted February 17, 2015 Author Report Posted February 17, 2015 Lots last time I was there. 12 - 20" in places. Great for sleds.
Joeytier Posted February 17, 2015 Report Posted February 17, 2015 Was on the north shore of nip a few days ago and there was close to 3 feet of snow, but very hard packed....machines will sit right onto top but there arent any vehicles venturing out there
Rod Caster Posted February 22, 2015 Report Posted February 22, 2015 Slushy for the first two hours. Really bad. I'll post pics when I get a chance. After we warmed up and dried up at Blair's shack, we went back out and did fairly well for walleye (18), one herring and 18 keeper perch...oh, and Nick got a decent pike.
Joeytier Posted February 22, 2015 Report Posted February 22, 2015 Everyone had a great time. Got lucky with great weather and iced lots of fish!
Acountdeleted Posted February 22, 2015 Report Posted February 22, 2015 Great day with awesome people. Lots of fish were iced, good conversation the entire day. The slush suuuucked (I'm exhausted today) but no permanent injuries or broken machinery so it makes a good story.
NAW Posted February 23, 2015 Author Report Posted February 23, 2015 Yep. Always fun! Don't forget the Mud Puppy!! Man I hate those things!!
Gerritt Posted February 23, 2015 Report Posted February 23, 2015 Awesome! Good to hear you guys did well!still not a nip swill, but sounds like you boys did well! And no missing tackle or atv's... G.
NAW Posted February 23, 2015 Author Report Posted February 23, 2015 Warming up in the hut. This was my old picture of the day.
chris.brock Posted February 23, 2015 Report Posted February 23, 2015 Looks like a great time! So who's the angler of the day with the best fish?
Rod Caster Posted February 24, 2015 Report Posted February 24, 2015 Here are pics from early in the day Slushfest: We got stuck several times...soaked to the bone by 830. Nick on his freedom flyer after crossing a slush hole Warming up in the shack, Chris catches a fleece pike
Joeytier Posted February 24, 2015 Report Posted February 24, 2015 Nick bagged a pike in the 23" range, and I think I caught the biggest pickerel, but it was still only about 16" or so, so I'll give Nick the honors.
wormdunker Posted February 24, 2015 Report Posted February 24, 2015 Awesome pix guys! Looks like a blast. I think my signature is on Blair's hut somewhere from the G2G 2012.
davey buoy Posted February 24, 2015 Report Posted February 24, 2015 Looks like a lot of fun guys !!!!!Love those weekends !
Nipfisher Posted February 25, 2015 Report Posted February 25, 2015 Awesome pix guys! Looks like a blast. I think my signature is on Blair's hut somewhere from the G2G 2012. You signature is still there. It can be seen in Nick's picture above the window. The other Brian (Pylon) signed beside you as well. You can also see Motion (Tony) RIP and his son Alex's signatures.
wormdunker Posted February 25, 2015 Report Posted February 25, 2015 Thanx Blair - nice memories for sure. Do you guys remember that giant pike I hooked? LOL! It was the only fish I got that day!
