pike slayer Posted January 26, 2010 Report Posted January 26, 2010 it would be a pretty good race on the hard packed groom trail or out on the lake. put some powder, slush, bumps, etc and all you will see is a snow cloud! and again great machine for what you plan to use it for let me know if you wanna do some fishin!
troutologist Posted January 26, 2010 Report Posted January 26, 2010 Well congrats buddy Im glad you got one that can get the family involved in icefishing. Don't be so quick to put down the power auger though, I was a skeptic myself but after using one for a while theres no comparison for mobility and covering water. CT has them like 50% off at the end of the season. Also let me know if you need a trail broken to a back lake
johnnyb Posted January 26, 2010 Report Posted January 26, 2010 The Doctor is in!! Nice sled...so jealous...just don't go running over any of your old snowshoe-ing friends on the way into those backlakes
Guest ThisPlaceSucks Posted January 26, 2010 Report Posted January 26, 2010 that's the good thing about those backlakes, ski doos can't get to them because they don't have a trail!
pike slayer Posted January 26, 2010 Report Posted January 26, 2010 haha ohhhh i could make a trail real quick into those backlakes but it would kinda illegal being that they are in the park haha!
Dara Posted January 26, 2010 Report Posted January 26, 2010 that's the good thing about those backlakes, ski doos can't get to them because they don't have a trail! you're gonna end up fat and lazy now....
Guest ThisPlaceSucks Posted January 26, 2010 Report Posted January 26, 2010 haha ohhhh i could make a trail real quick into those backlakes but it would kinda illegal being that they are in the park haha! not all backlakes are in the park...
Guest ThisPlaceSucks Posted January 26, 2010 Report Posted January 26, 2010 you're gonna end up fat and lazy now.... i was working on that long before i ever owned a sled!
Greencoachdog Posted January 26, 2010 Report Posted January 26, 2010 g'luk with that plan...I have a 20 yo and it doesn't work Like father like son eh!
ciceri Posted January 27, 2010 Report Posted January 27, 2010 I hope you like your machine. It wouldn't be my choice either. Great for 2 up riding on trails but other than that.....don't go into snow over 12 inches, never leave the trail and stay away form any kind of slush on the ice. If you want to crank it when the battery is dead.....good luck. Big motors may be fun but are crap to crank when it's cold. Even the old 540 cc often took 2 people to pull the crank. Store an extra battery and booster cables. Is the heat exchanger under the seat? I also hated machines that had that....you end up with a wet rear end and accumulated ice between the tunnel and the track. It's not 1972 anymore.. Sled will be fine. And he will be able to start it no problem.
Dara Posted January 27, 2010 Report Posted January 27, 2010 Like father like son eh! Right at about that age...yeah....he will grow out of it but for now...... he used to think his name was Gitwood
Guest ThisPlaceSucks Posted January 27, 2010 Report Posted January 27, 2010 atta boy... now you can stay south of Montreal River what if i just come up north of wawa instead?
Fish Farmer Posted January 27, 2010 Report Posted January 27, 2010 Just give me a single Elan. When you get there, drill an old guy a couple extra holes. I'll be there in 15.
Guest ThisPlaceSucks Posted January 27, 2010 Report Posted January 27, 2010 nothing wrong with an elan!!! http://vimeo.com/9026594
Dabluz Posted January 27, 2010 Report Posted January 27, 2010 (edited) You are going to love your machine for cruising the trails. Very comfortable. Elans in good condition sell for quite a bit of money. Edited January 27, 2010 by Dabluz

troutologist Posted January 28, 2010 Report Posted January 28, 2010 haha luc...have fun trail riding buy the trail permit and leave your icefishing stuff at home sally. funny thing about having icefishing gear is you dont need a permit. Sell your boat and buy a seadoo if all you want to do is burn gas.
DRIFTER_016 Posted January 28, 2010 Report Posted January 28, 2010 nothing wrong with an elan!!! http://vimeo.com/9026594 It's not a Yamaha.

PS heading to Grand Marais Mi Saturday for a week of riding...should get better than a thousand miles in. Edited January 28, 2010 by Dara
