ccmtcanada Posted September 19, 2007 Report Posted September 19, 2007 With the BOQ G2G coming up, I want to be prepared. I got a new Shimano trolling rod and a Okuma Magda Pro reel with line counter. The guys at the local tackle shop spooled it with 14 pound mono. They said if I wanted a different line, to just come back and they'd take care of me. So, here's the question. When trolling on BOQ for Walleye, what line would you suggest (type and lb test) and why? I'm new to this fishing in a boat thing....any input would be apprecaited. Thanks!

Thanks! 8lb 9 foot rod bail the line couter(take it back and get a decent level wind knowing how far your line is out wont get you more fish all else fails a barbie rod will work
tipupesox Posted September 19, 2007 Report Posted September 19, 2007 If you plan on flat lining lures or running off of boards you will be fine with the mono. I would suggest using a non stretch line if you plan on running dipsies or diving disks. Good Luck....... Tom
snackpack5150 Posted September 19, 2007 Report Posted September 19, 2007 I have been using 12lbs test Berkley big game.

ecmilley Posted September 19, 2007 Report Posted September 19, 2007 Cliff I use 10lb xt 14 lb big game on Quinte, it matches the line in the trolling bible for lengnth out (the 14 lb big game has the same diameter as the 10 lb xt) never had a problem with hook ups and such and run the off-shore boards
BITEME Posted September 19, 2007 Report Posted September 19, 2007 Far too much thought into catching lazy pigs .....Pretty fish but lazy!!!!!!!
Headhunter Posted September 19, 2007 Report Posted September 19, 2007 That set-up is just fine Cliff... I wouldn't change a thing, ok, I'd have chosen the Sealine over the Okuma but... you should be just fine. HH
