  1. Good advice on the sliders. Shorten the leads in a smaller boat and make sure they are not more than 3/4 the length of the rod (that is about the length of your rod loaded with weight.) makes it easier to net. Last Friday evening I had a bow on the slider and a salmon on the spinny -fly at the same time. For your spin doctor fly combo adjust the lead length from the spinny to the fly so that it looks good in the water. I like 18-21 inches but there are much more experienced people than me who do different.
  2. Me too. The advice you have received has been spot on. I will say this. 30 pound mono is more flea resistant, braid is a flea nightmare. If you can run roller rods with the dipsy divers and 7 strand wire you will be grooving. Fishing an offshore wind will be good in a small boat. A tip for fishing an offshore wind will be that the offshore wind will push warm surface water out to the lake and suck in the cold water from underneath. This will mean that you will not have to fish as deep. However if it is late August and the fish are staging they will go out of there comfort zone a little more than they would have in July as they are getting prepared to go up the warmer river. Troll perpendicular from shore, when the rods start firing turn and fish that depth. Good luck.
  3. My first ten pound walleye. Watching the gold get bigger and bigger as it got to the boat, and laying eyes on that head.
  4. I get what you mean now. I haven't thought of that, I would have to think about it more to decide on whether I would agree with it.
  5. Different bodies of water deserve to be judged on their own merit. Province wide limits is lazy and irresponsible. The MNR does their due diligence to inform us on the sustainable catch limits for each region and body of water, the least we can do as anglers is do our due diligence in understanding the regulations. It is not that hard. It really isn't.
  6. I love this kind of thing, thanks.
  7. Great haul. Nothing beats a good walleye bite.
  8. You are missing my point. I would never suggest that you pull over and cry. What a great articulation of your point of view by the way. Your description of the guy 'getting smoked' is what I have a problem with. Actually I don't. I do not trust people who are easily offended about anything. The fact that you brag about not thinking anything more about it would confirm my point that your discourse on this subject be null and void. You clearly are a man that could teach us all a great deal on a great number of subjects, including shrugging your shoulders on issues that you do not understand or do not deem necessary to learn about. Your indifference on the subject is a little puzzling when matched with it's scathing report on the dead. If you don't care, why do you have so much dismay for the poor prick? I guess I will sum it up by saying your lack of everything bothers me.
  9. It would have been funny if pigeontroller said the bog. Honestly though, go put the bloody hours in and you tell us. Lol. Good luck wherever you go. Cheers.
  10. Your right, but when you refer to someone getting hit on a motorcycle by a car as 'smoked', particularly when you witnessed it first hand, it says a bit about your desensitization and should negate you from the discussion. That was probably someone's father that got 'smoked'. I wonder if pulling in a small brookie on the UC was as fulfilling that day. Not to bust your chops and I am almost certain I am taking you the wrong way but you can't even get killed well enough to please the people around here lately. Lol.
  11. Insulin shock, drunk, mental health, drugs, could have been a number of reasons he was in the line of traffic. I doubt however that lack of intelligence was the cause or he would not have made it this far. I feel for his family. Lets not piss on a corpse here. If it was a suicide I would be fairly scathing though, as under those circumstances he would have chosen to endanger others, but we do not know a bloody thing about it so lets not 'call him out' quite yet.
  12. For the record, I like the offshore releases as well.
  13. I can't remember which fishing forum but I saw pair for sale in the classifieds that had a low price. If my memory serves me well I recall they want 75 for the pair. Have a look around the forums in the classifieds. Something tells me it was Spoonpullers. Good luck.
  14. Looks like great water. Those pictures of the trout in the water are pretty neat. Markings look great.
  15. I am always so impressed when I go to other Ports and see the set ups they have and the difference in the feel you get when you use them. Bronte is straight down 25 for me so that is where I launch. No weigh station anymore with Bronte Outdoor Sports moving to that horrible location in Mississauga. I drive by his empty store on the way home and it is troubling to see. He had to move though, I heard they jacked the rent up on him pretty bad and would not let him downsize the store to a half unit. Oh well. Good Luck out there.
  16. Well done man. We Hammered them the last night. Sd:fly's spoons they did not care. Highlight of the night was buying a guys parking ticket for 5 bones. Woo Hoo we saved 12 bucks. I forgot to give mine away this afternoon after our blue zone run. Trade those tickets out folks. Best way to get back at Oakville is to resell those tickets or just give em away.
  17. Get your thumb out of that musky's ear. Nice fish.
  18. Carlin at his absolute finest. The bumper sticker bit. You have to love it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cxmE2qMbYRU&feature=related
  19. As does catching and keeping a legal limit. There is absolutely nothing wrong with keeping a legal limit. Edit: IPhone induced typo.
  20. I would fish with ya any day of the week. #7 is awesome. Just awesome.
  21. Well done. I love watching baits get crushed on the top of the water.
  22. That is very impressive. Someone with every excuse in the world to mope around and be bitter but instead is crushing barriers with a cautious smile. That is courage and strength. Edit:spelling
  23. I like the neighbour kid hitting you with a baseball. I can just see you all beat up and that happening to top off your day. Thanks for the laugh.
  24. Grimace

    new toy

They wouldn't have time to get cold. :-)
  25. On a side note, I hope it is repairable. We just replaced ours. The new ones look fancy but are so energy conscious that they don't give the same heat. Takes longer to dry (which in my eyes, negates the energy issue). I could of probably cooked a turkey in my old one. It was ugly and awesome.
