I know this sounds crazy but, I've caught walleye on pop-r's after dark. they will smash surface baits... if they aren't hitting "quite" as heavy, I've taken them on wake baits or J-11's slowly reeled just under the surface. great tips Mike.

I would expect home owner insurance to go up by approx 50% over the next three years. this will be driven by sewer back up coverage. i would expect auto insurance to go up by approx 10% over the next three years. this will be driven by increased AB costs. i would expect commercial insurance to increase by approx 40% over the next three years (or less). commercial insurance is at an all time low, and can no longer be sustained. The increase might be even larger. these increases will be across all insurance companies.... last year was record losses, this year is getting close. no company is making any form of profit right now. shareholders are losing their dividends.... in the past shopping around often allowed for savings....as all insurance companies are losing money, shopping around will only confirm that the prices offered will be consistent across all companies.

what a crazy year for weather ... again. you guys don't want to know how much insurance costs are going to rise in the next couple years.....

sounds like a typical okuma i'd just return it to a local shop that sells okuma. i'm quite sure they'll replace it. okuma warranty and the way they take of their customers are likely the best in the business. shimano should take note.

okuma's generally can be returned, without receipt, for a new one. especially their great lakes reels.

boat found - no one aboard. interviewed a friend and friend said this fella loved to go out to sail in rough water and was likely heading 'into' the storm... i guess one could say he died doing what he loved....

your kinda done for the year, as far as hot fishing in lake ontario...... the area you're speaking of is hot more in June and July.

I know that lake well. when the sun is high, the bass move into their predictable hiding spots. when it is overcast, there is a ton of off shore structure that spreads them out. all our best days on Paudash have come with high blue skies.

Paudash? Do the Sunday. Hit the docks. Fish will be under with the high sun. Of course, it's only Monday. That forcast will change five times from now till then.

I look forward to the upcoming season. I greatly look forward to watching Leo play again. Jay McClement and Dave Bolland are both huge losses. And we still have that joke called Clarkson. otherwise, it's going to be a fun season!

as I said on BFB (and got ripped for it), a true angler can catch all species.....and I do my best to model that. In this province, it's silly to only focus on one species. to be a good angler you need to be able to catch all species under all conditions. (now THAT would be a tournament series....) I love lake ontario trout/salmon fishing...and I love bass fishing.... the biggest key was finding a boat that could do both.....and that wasn't easy! thanks for the kind words everyone. It was the time again to head up north for our annual September Bass fishing trip. This trip completed our 5th year in a row and 10th trip up, staying with a very kind owner of a beautiful cottage. With the way the calendar worked this year, our trip actually fell a week earlier, making it "seem" less than fall like...until we got up there. Tree's already changing. Air temps in the high teens with low's of 6 and 7 degree's. Water temps were 68'ish in the beginning of the week, dropping to 63 by the end of the week. During our June trip, the morning bite is often as good as the evening bite. However, each September trip we realize the morning bite is virtually impossible....as the night time lows drop the water temps almost 10 degree's...which eventually warm up as the day progresses. As such, morning fishing is a trying activity up there. We got out four of the seven mornings, but only managed to scrounge up a few smaller fish before about 11am. Strangely enough, this trip, the biggest fish were caught between 3pm and 7pm....a nice time for sleepy heads to be successful The average size was fantastic....with most bass coming in between 2.5lbs and 3.5lbs....all with big bellies. You could see, to these northern bass, their thoughts are already based on fattening up for winter. I used a variety of baits as usual, while my buddy John focused on the trusty senko. For me, tubes (but not flippin tubes, just 4.5" tubes), jigs, senko's, and a first for me, a punch setup all caught fish. My punch bait was a 1 ounce sliding weight with a double wide beaver and a punch skirt. Fun thing to use...At first I was hesitant throwing it, until bass started gobling it up. It was amazing to see 1lbs bass smash it as it punched through the mats and pads. Here's some of our better fish from the week. One Nickel and one Six (my personal best) - you can't complain! can't forget at least one photo of the TRUE slop HAWGS

I don't agree with anyone doing that.... I wish the same outrage would occur when someone slits a brown trout and leave's its body to rot on the shore so they can get eggs to use for a different species. muskie sure are special! it's good to see an angling community getting together to stand up for this crap!
