man, running 12 months a year, and using my batteries through December, January, and February, I wish I could get 5-7 years out of my batteries. If I can get 3, I'm lucky (that's with keeping them at 100%). Once they drop below 80% on a full charge, I sell them off (or most recently, given them away). these are group 29 batteries.
-
what's even better is learning to fish for other species, that way you could fish from March to December, and only have to worry about bass for half of those months....
-
any specific parts you recommend (I guess more likely to wear)?
-
awesome Matt, thanks for that info. although it sure makes for an expensive one, it sounds like a good spinnerbait reel.
-
crap, didn't think to check ebay. this digi-fishing technology sure is expensive!
-
but it's a fancy digital one.... seriously, a DC? it was shiny...did I mention it was shiny? gonna have to be creative to keep this one from the wife.
-
I own a Calais 201, but not the DC reel. I was at my local shop today and had a CL-201DC, brand new in box.I asked what he wanted for it....and he said he had it for a long time and wanted to get rid of it....$350 was asked. I bought it. After a quick search I see it's discontinued, which makes pricing it tough. Also, I see it is a 7.1 gear ratio. What are you folks using that reel for? Its a little heavier, yes. Also, man is this thing "fancy". how many dials and gizmo's does it have??? I'm wondering how user friendly it is going to be, lol.

Cleanest-Purest Lakes in central to southern Ontario?
Steve replied to pairofgreenhorns's topic in General Discussion
you are correct sir. -
i reguarily fish for species that would tow bass all around the lake....but for me, bass fishing isn't the "fight", but the "hunt". With that said, successfully landing a 5lbs plus largie out of the slop or wood is not an easy task.....

actually, Sudbury is considered northern ontario. just look at their property tax statement. -
Wow. Courtesy should be something that is earned, or you show out of respect, not offered "in case they have a gun".

Thank you to your dad, your uncle, and all the rest of the brave Canadians who forged their way up the beach on that horrific morning. November 11th is the day of rememberance, but today is also an extremely important day in Canadian history. The sunrise was a little brighter this morning due to all those who were lost shining down on us.

it's actually closer than you think. i have a client who is working with the Finnish government to test these on their roadways starting this fall. don't be surprised if you see similar technology in less than 5 years in North America. thin film pv is also growing rapidly....another area where in 10 years from now (not much more than that) you'll see it covering many surfaces, generating power. solar power is here to stay.

That I agree wholeheartedly. Many folks say bass are easy to catch....and its true, up to three lbs, they are an easy fish to catch. Great species to introduce children or newbies to. Overall a fun species to catch. But catching big bass, five and six lbs'ers, that's a whole different story. Even the guys who fish big water, erie, simcoe, etc, have trouble consistently putting big bass in the boat.... That's why Bass is one of my favourite species to fish for.
-
Nope, you didn't misread. For the most part, fishing bass during spawn is an easy target....not always, but certainly for the most part.
-
my father constantly points out to me the wildlife that resides in Hamilton city limits.... reptiles as well. he's positive it has to do with banning DDT and other toxins as well.
-
flat bottom with raised decks...careful having both of ya standing on the bow.... a good hookset from one of ya would send the other flying.... i guess that means, you be the one setting the hooks, lol. great stuff!

grimsbylander, I think rather than opening bass up for angling during the spawn, we should CLOSE all fishing for ANY species during the spawn. i believe it is wrong to fish trout during the spawn, just as I feel it is wrong to fish bass during the spawn. in regards to bass, the only anglers who want to fish bass during the spawn are lazy anglers, because bass are that easy to catch during the spawn....bass aren't hard to catch in the first place....at least compared to most other species....why we would need to open angling for them during the spawn it beyond me..... also, bass anglers, like trout anglers, are often the most short sighted anglers out there..... "I only fish for bass" or "I only fish for trout"...... the main reason some bass anglers want to open bass year round is they rarely fish for anything else ... often only fishing for walleye if there is a tournament involved. bass should remained closed during spawn. other species should become closed during spawn. those are my feelings....and yes, I fish bass likely as much as I fish salmon.....not many anglers are as comfortable in 2' of slop as they are in 200' of water with copper, wire divers, and riggers.
-
careful bill, your gonna hear it for that one.
-
not really.... alewife in harbours are not targeted by predators. bass, pike, etc don't pay a ton of attention to alewife.... shiners on the other hand....those are what the predators are looking for.

Spearing, Poaching and Dumping of Walleyes
Steve replied to Pikeslayer8's topic in General Discussion
too many people 'just saying' and no one with enough balls to 'start doing'. if you think for a single second that the proper local authorities don't know exactly who did it you've been spending a little too much time in the paint room. just sayin -

don't be silly. they know exactly who did it. there is no question of that. -
Photobucket Bandwidth Limit? What is the Solution?
Steve replied to Aaron Shirley's topic in General Discussion
have rapala cover the cost. i would think they would consider it a cheap way to pay for some of their advertising. edit: it's 30 bucks.....i thought much more. just pay it, lol.
