A "tooting your own horn category" ?
-
Maybe we need an amateur category? Solopaddler and Moosebunk are both top contenders but I recall a few other good ones too.

About 4 or 5 years ago one of my customers hit a beaver with a Sunfire. He wasn't a speeder. It still wracked up a $2800.99 bill by the time it was repaired.

I like the idea Forrest. Several could be nominated and then polled for the winner.

A few years back NOBODY rode alone on these things. Even riding in pairs wasn't enough sometimes. Reliability has come a long way with sleds but riding alone any distance away from a warm place to stay is still risky. PS. I see vehicles/machines of almost every description every day. And many people are not aware of issues with their vehicles until they experience breakdown or brought in for maintainence inspections. Don't be too harsh on your friend, chances are he had no idea.

I try to remind my customers before they purchase a motorized vehicle they should get their mechanic to check it over first. A couple bucks spent checking it out can mean a couple things. First if the thing is a piece of junk you just saved the purchase price. Secondly if it does need a little work it gives you the choice of not buying or taking the value of the repairs off the purchase price. Many dealers are responsible people and care about their customers. I would venture to guess it was a fair price for the work stated.

Not a flake here. It's about time it went south of us for a change. Stay safe everyone!

O sure. Make me feel bad for complaining about the cold a couple days ago and you saying "well you live in Canada"........ and then you turn around and say THIS?

Lions Clubs in our area raise funds through telethons and local fundraisers throughout the year. When delivering the turkey, the food vouchers and baskets of toys for the children the smiles on the faces of the less fortunate make the time spent working throughout the year all worthwhile. So Santa does do his deeds through us all in some way.

Very sorry for your loss Brian. Glad to see you have faith. It really helps to heal the wound in your heart.

Surfing around and found this. Hadn't seen this one before. Maybe some others haven't either. May be handy for some of you out there. Not too sure whether to trust the thick ice idea from the colour. http://www.ottertooth.com/Temagami/News/08/sat08-12-fc.htm Why would Lake Wanapitei still be open? Is it deep and spring fed?

I have seen two boats come into our shop that had worse damage than the one posted here. Guess how they were navigating?

First time you saw a damp board . WHAMMO! Good idea though.

I would like to congratulate Team extreme on a well deserved win! I would also like to thank the members of "the Reel Screamers" for a respectable effort this season. We had one of the most active postings and we kept in touch in what was going on. Well done! Now if we had only caught a muskie! O yes. One more thing. And it is an important one too. Cliff did a marvelous job of keeping things in line. Well done sir!. And thank you !

Very important stuff Doug! Spent 20 years as a volunteer firefighter and seen the results of fires. Luckily never had to experience a fatality but it was easy to see how easy it could happen. Seen many instances where alarms have saved lives. If you are a procrastinator- don't do it here! O ya. get a carbon monoxide detector too!

Question for the hunters, buck or doe to eat?
Bernie replied to Burtess's topic in General Discussion
Years back we dragged deer though the bush for sometimes a mile or two. Then came ATV's and trails and much easier to get deer back to camp. Also we wash out the deer now before hanging in a screened in meathouse. World of difference. Haven't noticed a problem with any meat in the last 10 years. A grizzeled old buck might be a little tougher but I do those up in a slow cooker. Best by far is a fawn on opening morning at the camp. MMMmmmmmmm ! -
This is why women should not take men shopping against their will. After I retired, my wife insisted that I accompany her on her trips to Wal-Mart. Unfortunately, like most men, I found shopping boring and preferred to get in and get out. Equally unfortunate, my wife is like most women - she loved to browse. Yesterday my dear wife received the following letter from the local Wal-Mart: Dear Mrs. Samsel, Over the past six months, your husband has been causing quite a commotion in our store. We cannot tolerate this behavior and have been forced to ban both of you from the store. Our complaints against Mr. Samsel are listed below and are documented by our video surveillance cameras. 1. June 15: Took 24 boxes of condoms and randomly put them in people's carts when they weren't looking. 2 . July 2: Set all the alarm clocks in Housewares to go off at 5-minute intervals. 3. July 7: Made a trail of tomato juice on the floor leading to the women's restroom. 4. July 19: Walked up to an employee and told her in an official voice, 'Code 3 in Housewares. Get on it right away. 5. August 4: Went to the Service Desk and tried to put a bag of M&M's on layaway 6. August 14: Moved a 'CAUTION - WET FLOOR' sign to a carpeted area. 7. August 15: Set up a tent in the camping department and told other shoppers he'd invite them in if they would bring pillows and blankets from the bedding departmen 8. August 23: When a clerk asked if they could help him, he began crying and screamed, 'Why can't you people just leave me alone?' 9. September 4: Looked right into the security camera and used it as a mirror while he picked his nose. 10. September 10: While looking/handling guns in the hunting department, he asked the clerk where the antidepressants were. 11. October 3: Darted around the store suspiciously while loudly humming the 'Mission Impossible' theme. 12. October 6: In the auto department, he practiced his 'Madonna look' by using different sizes of funnels. 13. October 18: Hid in a clothing rack and when people browsed through, yelled 'PICK ME! PICK ME!' 14. October 21: When an announcement came over the loud speaker, he assumed a fetal position and screamed 'OH NO! IT'S THOSE VOICES AGAIN!' And last, but not least . 15. October 23: Went into a fitting room, shut the door, waited awhile, then yelled very loudly, 'Hey! There's no toilet paper in here!'

Pie X radius squared x distance of each tire then figure the difference. But it won't matter. Be more concerned about the wheels first. You are going to a smaller diameter wheel. It probably wont fit over your caliper even if the bolt holes are the same.
-
First problem will be the wheels. I highly doubt they will fit. There are several factors involved. First is the bolt pattern and distance between the holes. Some have different fastener design ( tapered nut vs flat). Also will the inner part of the wheel clear the calipers and any other parts that fit very snug inside wheels in modern cars. Also have seen where air flow to keep brake components cool has been an issue. Also antilock brakes become a possible problem when wheel speed, diameter and programmed ABS all come into play. Be very cautious about doing this.

I bet the fishing would be great Joey! On the other hand it's probably about the same distance to GCD's Southern home.

A number of years ago, 10 to 15?, can't say exactly anymore-my memory doesn't allow me , I also seen one or two. Then the next year a dozen or more. Now they have completely taken over several islands on Nipissing devastating any plant life that was on them. I have talked to a few old timers (ok older than me) folks and no one can ever recall seeing cormorants on Nipissing . Cull is right. No argument from me.

Ha ha ha ....keep going man!

I suppose we are all aware it's winter Glen. But it's hitting some of us very unusually hard. An accumulation of snow like we have now would be somewhat normal by February but its only halfway into December. The ground isn't frozen and so in many lakes there is little or no ice either. Makes for a possible dangerous situation. I would love to have some normal winter. We have to be careful with snowmobiling too. The trails also have no frozen bottom in some spots. I had to rescue my son who got stuck in a creek last week trying to pack down the trail.

Sorry if it sounded harsh guys. But the facts are there. Most of the time if your CEL is on there is a problem. Just some mechanics are afraid of repairing because they do not understand the systems or we as consumers don't want to spend money on it. Just because it's clean out the tailpipe dosen't mean it's clean elsewhere. Why do you think the light comes on with a loose fuel cap? Its because they are designed to burn the vapours in the fuel tank system and if fuel vapors (hydrocarbons) are escaping that is contributing to pollution. But fuel cap leaks are only a portion of the leaks we find in those setups. Solenoids, loose hoses and rusted pipes are probably more common than caps. Those that sometimes reset it are the scammers. not the CEL. I agree there may be rare cases of a problem that is almost impossible to locate due to being very intermittant but even those can be solved with patience. Have been doing this stuff for a long time. I am not a ripoff mechanic. I do care. Ask any of my customers. What I am saying is true.

Snow! Yuuukkk. It actually has settled a little today. We need about three days of mild to get rid of some snow. Not the cold Tom wants to send us. Anybody want to come and shovel my roof?
