  1. As much as it is supposed to be "the thought that counts" . This will still put you in the doghouse Drifter. But there may be room for an appeal .
  2. Good deals to be had on sites like that but often you better be handy and be well equipped. Easy to get junk as well. Hard to tell sometimes if the engines are any good. Is something like that worth it if you end up spending lots of time and money on them? Used to buy stuff like that years ago and fix them up. Sometimes worked out, sometimes not. PS Watched one burn like that one day out on the lake Kemper. It backfired, and the foam in the intake took fire. We couldn't get it out. We started out throwing snow on it (it was all we had). But to no avail, it melted the fuel tank and whooof. There was nothing left but a melted hole and a blob of metal.
  3. Some of that damage maybe from a PO'ed housewife?
  4. We have a plastic welder at our shop. Not even sure where it is anymore it's used so rarely. It consists of a holder with a soldering gun style tip that allows compressed shop air to pass though it. This holder has a very intense electric heater in it. When it's fully warmed up you switch it to straight nitrogen from a regulated nitrogen cylinder. The nitrogen keeps oxygen away from the plastic weld. Its important to use the same type of plastic as the repaired piece to weld with. Otherwise you are wasting time. Did a few fuel tanks years ago out of obsolete sleds. But we opted not to repair anymore due to possible leaks and lawyers.
  5. Yep. I hear you Sonny. Went into Home Depot on Saturday to get some blades for my Makita hand planer. To my surprise a co-worker from years back was working the tools department. He chuckled a bit when I asked for the blades. "They only sell the tool not the parts" he says. I thought when the Home Depot first came to town it would be my favorite store. Needless to say it certainly hasn't met my expectations. Our small town hardware store recently switched from a Pro hardware to a Home Hardware. It depends a lot on the owner of the store and what/how they stock it to please the local community.
  6. Drove by Callander Bay on Saturday. Want to go for a boat ride? It was pretty much wide open other than a hundred feet out from the shore. It may be a blessing though Darcy. Once we get a cold snap it shouldn't take long to freeze up. The South Bay is frozen over, unfortunately though. With 2 ft of snow on it the ice will be a longer time forming and slush will be a problem.
  7. I found this site good for finding out what is what in the night sky's. http://www.neave.com/planetarium/
  8. His fish, he caught it, his decision to do what he felt is right. Respect his right to do what he thought best. Incredible fish fella! Way to go!
  9. I'm usually not one to say "there ought to be a law" but in this case if there isn't - there should be. I bet there are a dozen cats in there too.
  10. Actually our sales of recreational items stayed ok the last couple of recessions. Enough to keep the wolf from the door. No high dollar stuff but the kind of items that the unemployed guys needed to go fishing with. A fella has to have something to do ....
  11. Ya and where do you put all that crap when it isn't outside? Along with the Halloween stuff and the Easter stuff and the.............. No wonder there are storage buildings all over the country.
  12. Glad I fish Walleye. . ............ Or is it pickerel?
  13. Yep. Something new douG. Should have it figured out by spring.
  14. Testing testing 1,2,3 Hey... It works! Ha. Learn something new everyday Thanks! Now I wont need to add everything on to P-bucket to post.
  15. It is cool Cliff. Never thought of that. Thanks.
  16. He can't tell you Brian. It's Canadian Tire top secret technology
  17. Well done there Tbay ! Lots of fishing done there. Great idea with the video. If I do one I will need a shorter tune.
  18. I marvel at your skills of catching those big ones Lew. But I do understand your feelings on taking pictures of the fish. It is the people that surround us in our lives and how they affect us that are more important. I also enjoy the nature pics.
  19. I would not recommend this. Better the restriction remain in the heater core than end up in the radiator and end up overheating your engine. Off the shelf radiator flushes are mediocre at best. Another waste of time and money.
  20. I can getcha one brand new Brian.
  21. In one episode of 'Cheers', Cliff is seated at the bar describing the Buffalo Theory to his buddy, Norm. I don't think I've ever heard the concept explained any better than this: 'Well you see, Norm, it's like this . . . A herd of buffalo can only move as fast as the slowest buffalo. And when the herd is hunted, it is the slowest and weakest ones at the back that are killed first .. This natural selection is good for the herd as a whole, because the general speed and health of the whole group keeps improving by the regular killing of the weakest members. In much the same way, the human brain can only operate as fast as the slowest brain cells. Now, as we know, excessive intake of alcohol kills brain cells. But naturally, it attacks the slowest and weakest brain cells first. In this way, regular consumption of beer eliminates the weaker brain cells, making the brain a faster and more efficient machine. And that, Norm, is why you always feel smarter after a few beers.'
  22. Or like this? This one cost the guy 40 Grand to get it out. Also wrote off the truck. You can just see the roof sticking out.
  23. Me??????????.... A bad influence? I'm Mr. Olympic Naive champion. When you guys come up from the city I learn things I could not believe. Come to think of it, why do I believe you?
  24. Gee thanks Joe Think I am much better at "pong"
  25. Geez. Seen my name there and said "OH OH what did I do now " .................... Must have a guilty conscience. Ha. Yes I like the Black Russians. Good all around sipping stuff. Or you can fill a glass with it . Can't stand the taste of beer. But tequila and lime does go down well on a hot summer day.
