  1. Congratulations to you and your family Ryan!
  2. Not necessarily true Billy Bob. Depends on the system.
  3. The locksmith in North Bay does them. Perhaps your local locksmith can do them as well.
  4. That's right Roy, other than the poor fishing it was another good time. Joe made up a delicious meatloaf along with some fine fixings. You never go hungry when Joe does up the vittles. Joe with a big one. And Will waiting patiently for a bite. And Cliff doing some morning prayers. And a shot I just liked.
  5. Looks like everyone had a great time, smiles everywhere. Congratulations on the biggest fish Joey.

  7. O ya, the bigger they are, the more wind they pick up. I rebuilt an old shed at my cottage from the ruins of a couple shacks that came crashing in to shore and left floating in the spring.. There's always a good 2x4 or two left in them.
  8. Nice post Brian. Looks like fun! Joey and Will, perhaps a CO detector would be a good idea? Not sure how well they would work in a shack, but it beats getting a headache.
  9. LOL. Both of my grandfathers were blacksmiths. I'm glad that someone invented the infernal(sic) combustion engine.
  10. Did you know that some/most 2 stroke outboards made today have less emissions than 4 strokes? Anyhow, keeping with the thread. Walking down the street it isn't uncommon to see oil slicks, fuel leaks and coolant/antifreeze puddles. But if the same thing happens in a service garage over time, they make you clean up the contamination. I wonder how much contamination is under those streets? I don't think it really matters where you park, it will eventually end up in the water system anyway. Don't get me wrong, I don't like it either. If we all rode horses how much crap would end up in the creeks?
  11. A little snow last night will help keep you on your feet. Nipfisher, it looks like a tough job ahead of you. Chip as much ice as you can, otherwise it will split the board. Mike, get out there and catch a few. My turn to give it a try next weekend with the guys.
  12. I bet he gets a permanent ride. He did a great job driving that FORD all day!
  13. Great news John! Congratulations to you and your family.
  14. Went out for a drive this morning to check things out after the wild weather. I waited a day to make sure it froze up tight. The ice is bumpy but you can go just about anywhere. I used caution and avoided shorelines and channels known for current flows. Police reported a vehicle went through over near Deepwater Point. Not sure where exactly but I suspect it may have been in a channel. Anyhow, I took a couple pictures. Good thing there was a rope on this one. And this guy wishes he would have had a rope.
  15. Hi Randy. I have had two boats with twins. Gives the boat more torque for pushing and better hole shots but two 50's would not be as fast as one 100 all being equal. Lower units create drag and will slow things down. Also the extra weight factor. Burns more fuel too. I loved the twins, they sound so nice when the harmonics make the boat hum. And having that built in "get her home" factor was assuring.
  16. I don't know how mild it got in Temagami, but Nipissing is pretty much water mixed with slush right now. You may not have to battle the slush if it took down the snow there as well. The travel here will be fine after it freezes up again.
  17. It's always good to see the moratorium is on when the ice is melting. It makes it difficult or improbable they net at that time anyway. But it's good PR in the newspaper.
  18. "anecdotal evidence alone. " So like many so called experts feel about someone not "properly educated" , my opinion is anecdotal? Bill Gates, how was he educated?
  19. Doc. I agree that in some cases a study may be required. But when you see what these birds are capable of, and being on the water I am studying the situation every day through the summer. Just because my expertise is in automotive doesn't mean I am oblivious to everything else. I pay attention to the waters that I was raised on. It concerns me. But because I don't have the proper paperwork means my opinion is to be ignored? A couple years ago they were putting in new water lines and sewers past our shop. My dad told them they wouldn't be able to dig through the area they were planning on. "Don't worry" they replied, the experts checked it out. Well they did, sort of, I watched them halfheartedly do some checking previously. A couple days later the excavator was buried up over the cab with only the hoe sticking out. My father has been around long enough to see when the area they were trying to go across was a filled in swamp. So when I hear of "studies" and from many experiences from what I have seen, studies don't necessarily mean it's correct. You also need to take into account those that have good advise to give.
  20. Just for a side note, when doing a safety inspection on a car in Ontario, signals do not have to be working. I can't fail a car because they don't work. Same as brake lamps. Law reads one tail lamp and license plate lamp only required on the rear. The reason being is because you can use hand signals. Does anyone know how to do this? There are several other crazy things pertaining to safety's.
  21. I found the shootout interesting. A little different style of racing. I'm still wondering if the two car scenario will play out throughout the 500. O ya, Brian, Jr. will finish 33rd.
  22. I have a high efficiency gas furnace and when it runs there is a fair amount of water running out of the drain. Enough that it wouldn't take long to make a mess if it wasn't working properly. Perhaps it is clogged up?
  23. Actually Mike, I rarely buy toys. And if I do it's because I use them and they are rarely new ones. I like to spend it here. The boathouse I rebuilt, the bunkie on the right was rebuilt and the cottage has had several upgrades. Last summer I built the stone sidewalk, and a few other items. Just depends on what you like to do I guess. Do I live in a bubble? No, I don't think I do. I have traveled, just don't care for it.
  24. Once they get up to speed Jr will try to find a slow car to run with up along the wall where he won't get hurt. He's been scared to drive for several years. When the day comes that he decides to win instead of ride he may do well again.
