I'll be out there with a line in the water. Wonder where they will be on the opener? The water temperature was almost 60F on Sunday. I suspect they will be deeper than the usual opener. But I have been wrong before and just maybe I will be again.

When engines come apart in our shop it's not hard to tell the cheaper oil deposits on internal parts. There is a difference.

Great fishin' boys. Good to see fish like that.

Well he made it as far as Powassan by noon today. Wayne and Leah stopped by for a quick visit at my shop. It was the first time meeting the good folks for me. We really didn't have a lot of time to chew the fat today as Wayne and Leah were anxious to get up to their great place at Temagami and I was shorthanded at my shop. Wayne will not have an excuse for not catching any fish because I know he has at least a handful of jigs to use. Good luck and enjoy yourself folks. -
I use 6lb test fireline on my spinning rod. I have never used powerpro so I dont know if its thinner or not. Was even considering trying out 4lb test. I like the limper and thinner diameter for casting distance. As far as the strength part of it the 6 lb test I use has caught some large fish. A few years back during a pickerel tourney I hooked into a pike shortly before check in time. We already had our limit in pickerel but were looking for some bigger ones. I had to horse in the pike as quickly as possible. It was just a little over 20lbs. No leader, just a snap swivel tied on the end attached to a jig. That sold me on fireline forever. Guess I should try out the powerpro though, hear a lot about it.

As a child one of my best friends was a native. He lived across the street from me. We did a lot of things together and had a lot of fun. I remember his father built a huge slide out of ice and snow for us. What a great family they were. It was a very sad day when his father was transferred to another place. Never in my family was it said anything bad about other races or religion. It doesn't matter where people come from there can be good and bad and has nothing to do with race. There is absolutely no place for racism here at all. Way to go mods!!

Welcome on Peps. Hope you enjoy the camaraderie.

Good points Dan, I agree. There are better drivers on the circuit than Jr. Jimmie J has developed into one of the best at this point. Yes he has a good team to back him but he seems to be able to avoid getting into trouble and gets to the front when it counts. Jeff Gordon seems to have a resurgence since getting hooked up with his new sweetie pie. Tony Stewart probably is the best talented one of all but his temper seems to get the best of him too often.

Good point Big Cliff! I usually dont figure that until the motor quits.

I made up a fake news report for my apprentice who is an avid Jr fan. It reads Jr is going to Hendrick to partner up with Gordon(He hates Gordon) Also Kyle Busch is moving to DEI to drive the #8 Budweiser car. I added to it that a Canadian brewer is going to sponsor Jr (Labatts Blue-he doesn't like Blue). It looks pretty real, I think its gonna work for a good laugh.

Sounds to me like you have at least a fuel flow problem. Fuel pump or plugged fuel filter are possibilities. Also could be a dirty carburetors. Was a fuel stabilizer added to it last fall? Bad fuel is another possibility. Deposits can form in carbs that restrict fuel flow through the small jet openings.

Hi Solopaddler. You may want to see if the fire restrictions are on for Algonquin. Just in case you may catch a fish and want to cook them up.

Just heard on the radio that fire restrictions are on for this area too.

Hey Blaque, all you need is a jig and a worm!

MY BOAT SANK! NEED HELP (update #3, May 9)
Bernie replied to young_one's topic in General Discussion
I think it was swamped as well Wayne. Surely when Young One was out in the boat through the day someone must have noticed the bilge pump running or water coming in. Speculation on my part as well of course but an educated one. Hope it all works out for you young one. BTW we water test all of our boats extensively to verify no problems and to make sure they are propped right. -
You definitely captured the moment. Very well done.

Mine are less at the island than they are in town. Although they did go up this year to $1450. Trouble is we dont get any services. But thats OK by me.

I didnt realize you were on an island Wayne. Mainland property is OK for some folks. Depends a lot on where it is too. Try not to get a northern exposure. Look too see how deep the water is at your property shoreline too. Seen where some folks need to tie up 100 ft out from shore. Can you keep a dock from being ice damaged? How rough does it get? If you are unsheltered to prevailing winds it makes docking difficult as well as keeping it tied up undamaged. Some complain that they dont like island property because of the inconvenience. I dont give it a second thought. Very few bugs. Fantastic sunrises/sunsets. No traffic noises. O ya .....fishing.

Hi Dutch. Never seen waterfront property going down in value. You must have a love for water if you get involved with waterfront. If you truly love it, it may not matter how much room you have in the house/cottage because you just want to be there. BTW ...There are benefits of being on an island Wayne .
-
Moosehead, Wayne is right. I'm afraid you are going to have to bite the bullet on this repair. No quick and easy fix. No goop or glue or quikkie aluminum on this one. If not repaired properly you will never be able to trust it again.

Yep, the town population is growing.

Hi Neil. I suspect that the smelt run is long gone. I can remember years ago going and there were still patches of snow in places. Haven't talked to anyone this year so far that has gone. Guess you are just going to have to wait for the pickerel .
