  1. You are right about that Jack. We will hopefully get a little longer time to chat next year.
  2. Started out yesterday morning at 6AM to the opposite end of Nipissing to brisk northeast winds and cool temps. Fortunately the winds were down some from Friday. Took 2 1/2 hours to make the trip to Lakair. Using a Garmin Rino with the Nipissing map it made the trip a lot easier to navigate through the maze of rocks, islands and shoals. Once through the entrance into West Bay the channels were fairly well marked with buoys. When I reached the bridge the distance as the crows flies was 40 miles. Should have taken more pics (I realize now).Meeting me at the dock was Cliff and was glad to finally meet him. I tied up with slightly frozen fingers and then shook off the sea legs. Cliff led me straight to the coffee shop and it was required. He then offered me some hospitality at his campsite and met Carole. Thank you very much for that kindness Cliff and Carole. What an amazing bunch of folks I met that day. Every one friendly and smiles everywhere. Its an unforgettable experience to go and meet everyone for the first time. Thank you to everyone for your hospitality. For those that have never done the Lakair experience take it in next time around. The islands and bays are incredible and beautiful. I have lived on Nipissing in summers all my life but have never been on the waters in a boat in that area before (Bring a map). Cliff pretty much summed up the fishing part of the trip in his report. Had a chance to sit down with several members and have good coversations and in the future hope to have some more. Roy, you are a standup fella regardless what others say about you! Ha ha. Chris (Spiel) showed me some of his fine work on fishing rods he had made for Art and Joe. Works of art Chris, thank you for showing them to me! Wished I had more time to chat with Glen, Joe and Art, very interesting guys (thanks for the hat ). The fish fry was excellent. TJ promised me the fish would excel and he was true to his word. The buffet filled everyone up after a day on the water. The fireside and music in the evening was enjoyed by all there. Cant wait until next year!
  3. Was a real pleasure meeting you and Joe Saturday . Hope next time we will get a chance to sit down and have a real good conversation.
  4. Glad to see you and Carole made it home ok Cliff. Sorry I didnt stay for breakfast like I said I would but when I woke up the water was calm. So I took the opportunity to take advantage of it. In calm water it only took 1 1/2 hr. I really enjoyed the music last night Cliff, thank you very much. You and Carole were very much like professionals in the boat yesterday and enjoyed fishing with you two. Hopefully you will join me for a days fishing next year as well. You were just a little modest with your bass weight too Cliff. It was 2.8 lbs. Really nice fish!!!
  5. Nice fish Kevin. Keep up the good work. Roy gave me a nasty guaranteed Musky lure yesterday .So there may be hope there yet.
  6. Hey Gerritt, Too many pics for me to download out here but will when I get the chance. Glad you got some fish too. What a beautiful area down there.
  7. Cliff wasn't slacking off at Lakair Alex. I will let him tell you about it. Im sure he will have a fine report for us.
  8. Thanks Bill. You have a good summer as well. Maybe when you get back we can plan another trip up here in September
  9. Dont think its a coil problem fellas. Entrophy said when the leads to the coils were switched the problem went to the other coil. Problem must be upstream of the coils.
  10. Atta girl Jen! Great report. Great bag of fish. Can I offer you a hint freezing the fish? When I bag em up in a ziplock I add water to the fish, zip it up almost all the way, squeeze the air out and then put the slight opening downwards into the sink. The small opening lets the water out but does not allow the air back in. Basically it vacuums out any excess water. It takes up less space in your freezer and fish isn't surrounded by air. If you flatten out the fillets and freeze them flat it also is easier to thaw them out. You also have a better idea how much fish is in the bag.
  11. Good motors. Reliable as well. Very few issues with them over the years in my shop. They have been around since the early 90's.
  12. If you brought it up to Lakair for the weekend we could all get on! Nice boat Steve
  13. Hope the weather is good, and the flies dont bite- but the fish do.
  14. Tom, I will bet its a speed sensor. Fairly common on Gm stuff. Do 2 or 3 a month on them with similar symptoms. Need to go to data stream in the computer to find it sometimes. Does the speedometer drop out? What is the year, make, model?
  15. Hi Lunker. Great report. Good to see you did well. Next time you are up here at south bay stop by for a cold one(or a hot coffee). Were you in Hunters Bay or Fish Bay? If you were you must have driven right past my place.
  16. Hi Ciff. Your reports are always great to see. Glad you had some fun with family and friends.
  17. We recently got a trade in that will allow me to go on Saturday morning. Its a little bigger than my boat with a CUDDY. So a Saturday night party is ON!!! Yahoo- cant wait either.
  18. It really is a lot like the community we have here. Most everyone willing to share and help each other isn't it?
  19. My Neighbor called me at work this morning telling me he had a strange noise on acceleration in his Nissan Frontier. Being really busy at the time I said I would stop by later and take it for a test drive to see if it was serious. Just after lunch I took it for a spin and discovered it was only an exhaust heat shield vibration. A bay was empty when I got to the shop and pulled it in. A hose clamp around the shield did the trick to eliminate the vibration. I took it back and left it in his driveway. He called later and asked what we had done to repair it and how much was the charge. Now my Neighbor is a fine fella with a wife and two very young kids. I didnt charge him anything. Just before supper he came over with 2 bags containing 2 specked trout in each bag. I didnt expect anything from him at all but this I could hardly refuse. I am so grateful to have good neighbors and to live in a great community. If the world today was just a little more giving we would live much better lives. Just feeling a little reflective tonite and thought I would share
  20. You just have to love those bent rods Shawn! Love the pics- and the fish. WTG
  21. We see a lot of trailers such as yours in here at our shop. Especially in winter with sleds for repair. I would love to catch a dude like that. Definitely will keep an eye open for you. I hear that most of this kind of thing heads to the province of Quebec.
  22. Looks like a great day on the water Terry. Some real nice fish there! Gotta catch me a musky someday. What's a worm harness?... and how do you get a bridle in their tiny little mouths??? Ha ha Glen.
  23. Thanks Maureen. Nothing special planned here. May get out for an afternoon session on the water. Gotta cut the grass first.
  24. What? No Black Russians? Have a great time Gerritt
