  1. Vowed i would never target muskies by myself since they tend to be hard to handle. I can see the difficulty trying to deal with the musky itself but to film it, get a photo with OFC sign etc... adds a whole new dimension of problems. Kudos on pulling this all off and sharing the experience with us.

    Simcoe laker.

Biggest laker i have seen pulled out of Simcoe from a report here. Very nice
  3. This link is from Britian seems they shut down all the sites from the USA. http://www.firstrowsports.eu/watch/71137/1/watch-ufc132:-cruz-vs-faber.html thinking Faber, Silva and Bader will win main fights.
  4. Seems like there is some intelligence involved in the long term evolution of these apparent brainless species. Weird stuff. Thanks for posting this.
  5. The last few years i have caught most muskies trolling Perch Super Shad Rap, 8 to 10 inch perch jointed Believers or Depth Raiders. Most fish were caught off windblown reefs suspended over the nearby deepest parts of lake in north end. Like this one caught on Perch Super Shad Rap. Again lots of great advice here. Personally use a MH carolina rig and Abu Garcia reel which seems adequate for these smaller musky lures. Also perfect for throwing bucktails when wanted. The fish on Pigeon are mostly between 10 - 15lbs. with the odd one over that. A 50 inch fish seems to be a trophy there. Take great care to land these as outlined in prior posts. A few times have been cut by thrashing muskies when removing from cradle. Despite utmost care sometimes those nasty teeth will quickly slice.
  6. That little canal is called Murray Canal. It connects Brighton Bay with Bay of Quinte. You can walk the length and fish it. Casting into Bay of Quinte at the west end seemed best. I've caught pike, bass, walleye and many panfish there.
  7. Another great report! Good reminder of good fishing opportunities close to home. Have done similar fishing in past. The smallmouth bass inhabit these lower stretches of tribs when the steelhead move out. Bass from Scarborough area trib, this time of year, caught years back.
  8. Always thought the desire to go fishing strengthened the will to have long life.
  9. Don't bother trying to fish in Sandbanks park. There is just Lake Ontario there and you have to have a boat and go way out in lake. If you have a boat launch into Bay of Quinte at Trenton which isn't to far away. If you want to shore fish Twelve O'Clock point a little south of Trenton, on Bay of Quinte, is pretty good for pike, bass, and walleye.
  10. Try this one... http://www.firstrowsports.eu/watch/64323/1/watch-versus.html
  11. Goes to show that lobbying or making enough noise does work. Thirty years ago American tourists would rent cottages and take home their limit of walleyes. Was good for the tourism industry in Kawarthas. With the walleye being more restricted and zebra mussels clearing the water and sending walleyes off rock shoals into weeds, they want to encourage Americans to still collect fillets, but of bluegills instead. Thus the 300 limit on sunfish for Kawarthas. Even with electric knife it would be a pain but 300 sunfish could be 50lbs or more of fillets.
  12. Was about to say the same thing. The season for headwater residents is practically closed due to high temperatures leading to mortality of said fish. As if anyone would post location of an obviously small delicate fishing spot on the web anyways.
  13. Nice browns and bows It is the best when the crowds disperse.
  14. Nice report, at least you did get out and do some catching. Have been out once myself so far this year.
  15. Fishing right off the CN tower is as urban as it gets. Best pike fishing i ever experienced right here in Toronto. Got my PB pike here of 43". Have posted reports way back when i caught these with buddy Dude... Even caught some largies down here. Caught this pike in May 2007 turns out to be last time i was there. Caught these in Toronto harbourfront eh.
  16. Seeing that your 15 yrs. old i would assume your just beginning this musky journey.Lots of great advice here for you to follow here. Having a net and learning proper landing and releasing techniques is super important. That Calcutta/St.Croix combo should be great with the 65lb braid that is recommended. I fish nearby Pigeon Lake for muskies and started fishing muskies when about your age. Started off fishing a chartreuse Rapala J-13 along a 12-18 ft extensive weedline and catching muskies which was tons of fun. A few years later started using a Perch Super Shad and did even better. The muskies in that area love this lure. This lure i still use after over 20 years. Still runs true. Using a silver bladed black Mepps Musky Killer or orange bladed black musky spinnerbait are productive choices as well. Buckhorn Lake should be receptive.
  17. One of the best reports i've seen here in last 8 yrs or so. The bald eagle pics are awesome. Have seen more bald eagles in reports this year than ever. Great to see. The sunsets, weather pics, assorted wildlife pictures, pike/musky and great company make this look like an incredible adventure for you. Thanks for taking the time to share this with us.
  18. If possible i would net that beast as well. You've got access to excellent fishing were ever you go it seems!
  19. Always enjoy your videos. This is great having video of Jacks first fish.
  20. Nice musky! Those Georgian Bay muskies are way chunkier than the Kawartha muskies.
  21. There is a fair amount of fishing reports from Nosbonsing over the years. Use the search function and type in "Nosbonsing" and many should be found like this.... http://www.ofncommunity.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=53298&st=0&p=579754&hl=nosbonsing&fromsearch=1entry579754
  22. Nice going! Congrats, probably the most exciting fishing experience. Not easy to get solid hookset on those musky using musky topwaters.
  23. I think you saw creek chubs. They are all over upper stretches of rivers. Caught many while going for brookies or resident browns. When they are spawning they get reddish orange stripe right down the length of body.
  24. Not sure where you plan to fish but any estuary or trib mouth on Lake Ontario, Lake Erie and Lake Huron probably has sheepshead/drum and white bass right around creek mouths right now. Adding a piece of worm to jig/grub could catch them even throwing a small inline spinner could produce. Pike, jumbo perch, and even smallmouth bass like to be in these areas at this time of the year. Good Luck
