  1. I remember when 1 million hits happened around 2004-05 or so. When the board changed in late 2006 it really took off. Congrats on the continued success! Mainly same moderators the whole time. Must have something to do with it.
  2. Thanks to all for well wishes and good info. Can stand, barely walk but sitting in a boat all day fishing can easily be done. Thank goodness! All replies have been read and considered for efficient packing. Things have changed somewhat in 17yrs like instant Starbucks coffee. Checking out the lower stretch of Petawawa R.
  3. Thanks Shayne! Going to give them fish a test for sure. Lots of good suggestions in that reply. Will surely take those recommendations. No cans or bottles are going in. Thanks again!
  4. That is a good thought. Thanks. Beer and canned ham while maybe funny...
  5. Hi, Finally have the opportunity to go to Algonquin Park for 4 day stay. Haven't been there since 1995 due to marriage, kids, work and then disability. A couple of buddies are putting in effort to get me up there and now looks like a go. Used to go up a few times a year in past and going down Petawawa R. was the fave. Luckily can drive to launch on lake there and have tinny and 9.9 for fishing fun. Just curious if anyone can suggest good foods to pack and necessary tips or items that might be overlooked. No portaging will occur due to my inability to walk well. Thanks for any suggestions in advance.
  6. Someone told me they caught one at Pickering nuke about 20 yrs.ago from the west side. They said it was about 35 lbs. Former member SNAG told me he caught a small one down Etobicoke way while trying for pike. Maybe they will increase in frequency eventually.
  7. Excellent photographs! From the yellow bellied sapsucker, osprey fighting over bullhead, Lew casting musky spinnerbait, pickeral, etc... looks like a good time outdoors.
  8. Yup, that looks like a tiger musky. There must be some musky in Lake Ontario's northwest end. If so there must be big ones. Wonder if any salmon/ trout boats have caught musky incidentally out in the lake here?
  9. Have been checked a few times. Last time was on Head Lake near Norland. The CO was in about a 14 ft. boat with 30 hp Mercury. Nice guy but no one would get away on this smallish lake.
  10. We are lucky that you have been putting up these stellar reports for the last 8 yrs or so. They are way better than any fishing show. Many, many thanks.
  11. Have caught thousands of browns. They have red spots. http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v615/shiffy/?action=view&current=biggestbrown.jpg Main difference is mouth size. Scroll down for differences. http://www.fishcreeksalmon.org/atlantic-salmon-id.htm
  12. Judging by large size of spotting, lack of red spots and jaw position and length. I feel safe to assume it's an Atlantic salmon.
  13. Thinking Atlantic as first instinct as well. Nice big Brook Trout.
  14. Have always been curious of Quinte musky. Get the feeling they are usually caught accidentally while targeting other species. Maybe some big ones since Lake O/St. Lawrence are close and connected.
  15. Looking forward to Pigeon Lake for rest of season as well.
  16. Thinking that leaving the threads open to 'lurkers' provides more page views and potential participants. Seems good like last 10 yrs. or so.
  17. Maybe GreenCoachDog will chime in on the finer qualities of this setup.
  18. Had place across from island since '77 or so. There has been this talk of development the whole time. The big signs announcing for sale etc. have been there at least a decade. Not much has developed in that time. The musky fishing is still top notch in area though.
  19. Pretty cool catch! Something a little different than all those cookie cutter 'bows.
  20. Wow, what a great read on a house bound Saturday morning. The hardship and toil endured to make that quest were extreme. Then at the right time divine intervention provides the trip saving duct tape. Unbelievable! You both were justly rewarded with the finest for those tribulations. Lucky to have met you both; it added depth to the story. Many thanks!
  21. Just thought i would mention that the big walleye in my avatar was caught in western Lake Ontario. Was a cast length from shore but in a boat at the time. Big walleye from 15-20 lbs are swimming around out there but night time and lots of effort is a must for shallow Lake O estuary walleye.
  22. Great story Mike! Always wondered who Ralph Bice was. Incredible that you met him. A favourite part of Algonquin for me. The smallish portages around Ralph Bice Lake (Butt Lake at the time) allowed for gf's to accompany me for trips. Many thanks for post.
  23. Keep your eye out for black morels. In the past fiddleheads, morels and brook trout would all be found/caught at the same time.(last week of April, first couple of weeks May). Had many a delicious meal of these wild foods combined on plate. Sometimes would catch crappie around same time as well.
  24. Cool finds. Found similar stuff in woods before turned out the skull and bones i found were from a cow not a deer.
  25. Just went through the same search for 12 ft. boat trailer. Ended up getting decent galvanized trailer with trash 14 ft. fiberglass boat on it for 300 dollars. It was listed as 'wanted' luckily stumbled upon it. Some trailers were listed about 700 dollars but involved some travelling. Keep looking and try unlikely places something good will pop up.
