  1. The creek is no where near 30 feet deep. I have about 15to 18 feet of rope on my minnow net and from the top of the wall it easily reaches the bottom. I would be surprised if it is deeper than 12 feet anywhere. I think lures would be useless in the (very dirty ) creek. Fishing the creek with worms, chicken livers ,or minnows should yield catfish. There is a lot of boat traffic on the weekends. Best of luck!
  2. The name of the creek is catfish creek. At the mouth of the creek there is a steel wall which is about 6 feet above the creek which blends into a pier which is always lined with perch fishermen. It may be better to launch up stream at one of the marinas or there is a launch by one of the bridges. The creek contains catfish, suckers and sheephead. Off the pier they catch some nice perch. If you go off shore say 7 miles you can troll for rainbow trout and walleye.
  3. The first time I fished the St. Clair river I was fishing in the shipping channel and kept my eye on an approaching freighter and marveling at it's size as it approached us. As it got closer I noticed the size of the bow wave it was producing and had to open my engine up and head for shore and still barely missed swamping the boat so I think that I deserve the award.
  4. Minnow traps are suppose to have your name and address attached to them, so I would suspect that you would have to do the same with leech traps, however in the videos I watched I didn't see names on any of the traps.
  5. I would try for the tail light at CT or an auto parts store. You will likely have to replace the entire light, or at least that is what I had to do because I couldn't find anyone selling the parts that I needed. The lock may be available at an RV dealer or at a boat dealership.
  6. They vote Wednesday July 11 and hopefully the fishing will remain open.
  7. My friend has a cottage that would also require a 12,000 BTU air conditioner . I am trying to get him to buy the type that stands inside the cottage and only requires you to vent it through a screen in a window. I think that they are every bit as good as the old style and are definitely easier to place. They evaporate all the water that is produced and aren't as visible to thieves.
  8. If you Google " catching leeches for bait" there are some good videos on how to catch them. I learned a lot from watching some of them.
  9. This is what we all should do during free fishing week. Good Job & those kids will never likely forget you.
  10. I've been told that you can drill holes in a can , put some cat food in the can, put it in a swampy area and the leeches will swim into the can. I have never tried this but I think that you have to have your name displayed on the can.
  11. It would be nice to be your neighbor !
  12. A truly beautiful rod that will land many, many fish in the coming years.
  13. A great idea to have a portable wall for all those who have't been able to see the original monument.
  14. I would likely choose the tail hook.
  15. If he gave you a deep cycle battery it should not be the problem with the battery , but I would want to take the battery with you when you purchase a new motor. No point in purchasing a new motor ,then frying it if the battery isn't the correct battery .
  16. I use a plastic food container that holds about 20 floats and fits my inside pocket of my vest. I likely never use more than 2 or 3 floats in a day, so I cannot give you a reason for carrying 20.
  17. Last year if you were fishing the Niagara river you were suppose to phone the customs office when you crossed the border, even though you had no intention of landing on the opposite shore. I think it was the Canadian customs that were causing all the problems. Hopefully commonsense prevailed there and this is no longer is demanded. I would guess that these same stupid rules could apply here.
  18. I'm in the same boat as you smally21 and have lived in my house for over 30 years. The garbage just keeps getting worse , schools need to get back to talking about the behavior expected with regards to littering on their way to and from school.
  19. You have to go out several miles and run jet planners. dipseys or downriggers.
  20. I thought that the natives were going to take over resource management from the MNR. They would likely do a better job and we would have more enforcement officers to enforce the game and fish laws. I read this in a forum a couple of years ago,but then nothing more was said. Perhaps they are finally getting around to it now.
  21. Walleye---Marble eye
  22. Great report, you know how to make a fellow jealous.
  23. If you Google spinner bait skirts you will get a lot of suppliers such as Barlowtackle.com. If your local tackle stores don't carry them they are easy to find on line. You may need to thin them out a bit before using them.
  24. Buy tails for spinner baits and use them. just put the tail on normally, instead of putting it on backwards as you would do with a spinner bait. I would use gorilla clue or epoxy to secure it.
  25. To funny ! You scared the crap out of me.
