  1. It all ends tomorrow, so why worry.LOL
  2. Great and tasty looking fish.
  3. Cheap gas can be purchased on any native reserve. My brother in law pays 1.06/L.
  4. As I mentioned before I quit with the aid of Champix Dec 26 ,2010. On Feb. 13, 2010 I fell and broke my ankle and have since had 3 operations on it. Through quitting smoking and being very inactive ,due to my ankle, I've gained 40 pounds and developed type 2 diabetes . I often wonder if I should have quit with all that has happened since I quit.
  5. Mark Twain is credited with saying, " quitting is easy I've done it thousands of times".
  6. I quit December 26 th,2010 by using Champix a drug that my doctor recommended and I haven't relapsed. I know that if I tried smoking just one cigar I would be right back smoking full time again.
  7. An extra swivel above your float will help with line twist if you are a side caster and using a fixed float.
  8. Glad your surgery was a success. Looks like a great year for you.
  9. If you want a pin I would recommend buying a used one off one of the boards Raven, Islander, and Kingpin are all good reels. If you want a spinning reel I would go with a Shimano Stradic . I would recommend 8 lb. test on either set up and 6 lb. flurocarbon leader . Brands for mono are numerous, but any good quality mono should do. I like drennan ,maxima, or suffix for fluro leaders.
  10. Congratulations to you and your team, it is never easy to win a OFFSA championship.
  11. Remember the reel could have easily been dropped in the store before you purchased the reel. I have seen anglers drop reels on more than one occasion and Joc's store isn't immune from this. Easier for the store to sell the reel than send it back if they don't notice the damage. Your reel spins better than any Islander I have ever seen , so maybe you should fish it and just keep replacing the bearings every year.
  12. I'm sure that any tackle store carrying Islanders would allow you to test the reel ,if you don't get any replies.
  13. Great to be off work and be able to put time in on the river regardless of how many you catch. Time spent with friends is priceless.
  14. If the bearings are not seated properly I think that is another possible cause for the wobble. You can cause all sorts of trouble trying to fix it yourself. For reels out of warranty Islander charges $90 to upgrade to apec 7 bearings.
  15. My Islander had a terrible spin time and start up was terrible as well. It sounds like you got one of the good ones. Since it is under warranty they should fix it for free, but if I were you I would ask them to upgrade the bearings to APEC 7"s while they have the reel. They will charge for the upgrade but it will be worth it. The reel shouldn't have a wobble unless you fell on it,as mentioned , or you forgot to use backing. Never try to remove the bearings yourself , as you will likely not be able to get it back together properly.
  16. I have always cured my roe, but from what I have read you may do better leaving it uncured. If you decide not to cure it I would divide it into small batches so you do not have to thaw it all out at once.
  17. In the Announcement section the third topic deals with "Bulk Brown Roe" . The price is very reasonable to me. I don't know if you have to go and pick it up or perhaps he will mail it. I agree with all that said roe is roe.
  18. If the serial number is 1509 then I know how you feel. Do not try to take the bearings out yourself, but follow Bill's advice and send it back to the factory. There is a person on the FF looking for an Islander.
  19. That is one cute dog! I hope someone finds the dog and returns it safely.
  20. I never get tired looking at these photos.
  21. A pair of beautiful rods!
  22. That sir is amazing.
  23. I would contact Wayne at www.canadafishingreels.com . He can likely do both fix ups for you.
