  1. For his own well being and future health, I hope he makes the hard choice to step down before he suffers anything worse. I would hate to see him suffer any further neurological issues. It's just a game is what it boils down to for me and I have no faith in the NHL brain trusts and or NHLPA to take care of it's players. Yeah, call me cynical...
  2. My company has a big one for all departments but it's usually a family thing with tons of kids, and not having any, never been. Theres always a smaller departmental party I always go to. Most managers are pretty cool to talk to outside work and everyone else gets along like peas in a pod. They have gone from nice dinners in fancy pubs to lesser venues but it's still fun to go. Haven't had bonuses for a few years but like others, the vacation makes up for it.
  3. the plate's too small. and the beer cozy ? I dunno....just saying
  4. congratulations on shaking the shackles ! It was the sled commute that sealed the deal right
  5. Well it would be interesting to play around with the idea of slapping a Suburban rv furnace in the hut but you'd need to haul batteries and propane and that's not taking into account the noise these furnaces make You gonna splurge and get a stove with a window for those romantic nights ? I like these http://www.marinesto...m/newspaper.htm
  6. wood stove (Kni Co) for me. use one in my canvas tent and although it's not an overnight burn, things get downright toasty and comfy
  7. a waterlogged tree trunk the size of a small import ?
  8. Looks like a solid hut you're building there and I look forward to updated reports. Never built one myself but I'd considering adding more radius to the front of the skis vs the angle cut. Whether or not this will help in the pull or not, a more experienced member would have to pipe in with their thoughts. It would give you a smoother transition for the teflon/uhmw/whatever you use under the runners for slip.
  9. yano, make another post like this and I'm going to hafta round up some other members and come raid your freezer. just saying -and btw, we're gonna make you fry up some medallions for us while we're emptying said freezer of anything venison related
  10. drifter beat me to it.
  11. Not sure to get it (think I remember it from another forum) but look for Ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene (UHMW). This is what winter travellers use for their gear sleds and what most Komatiks have on their runners ( at least the ones I've seen and ridden in). I'll try and find the reference to a place that sells it. I believe they come in white or black for sure and could be a bit pricey but if you want slide and glide, this is what I'd be after.
  12. wow. we all know where this driver is going don't we
  13. sweet jayzus those are some nice fish you got there and welcome ! As well, I now think the bar for introductions has been set to a new high, quite possibly unattainable for mere mortals. I'm sure all new members following you, send their thanks lol
  14. lol, we've got those 30 second spots up here too although not as sleezy. yet
  15. Gonefishin, Thanks for the info, helps me visualize things. Yano, I understand about being on good terms with your neighbours and I make efforts to be one myself, but the fact that they waited several days to drop the note kinda bugs me. Not sure what I would do either. I'm all for letting it slide, all things being equal, but you've already got at least one member, who should know, suggesting you report it. Possibly this could be a situation of CYA in case there are other issues besides a dented door. It covers their ass as well imo. ymmv
  16. Just want to clarify... -You live on this street yourself (not visiting gf or anything right ) and they're your neighbours ? -You parked in front of or at the end of their driveway, blocking it ? If yes to both, maybe let it slide and hopefully this is where it will end. If you did indeed block their drive and do it again in the future, I would think your next ride will receive the same treatment eventually tbh. ymmv There'a also no fault so they shouldn't be penalized if you go through the collision reporting centre. My wife scraped a neighbour's car (they parked too tight to our drive) and basically was no harm, no foul after it was reported. We're very good neighbours fwiw.
  17. You should be fine and paperwork is good. If you do end up bringing some samples, would it be a good idea to have the word PRODUCT SAMPLE written or stickered on it so it doesn't look like you're trying to resell down there (check with your boss to see if this suggestion is even worthwhile) ? Since you're going as a conference attendee, there shouldn't be any issues as friends have been going stateside to attend photo conferences for years without issues.
  18. Gonna hafta disagree with billy bob on the 'don't say it's work' thing. This can and probably will come back to bite you hard in the butt. Lie once and get caught and you'll most likely be flagged in their system, making future crossings a major PITA, not to mention any possible problems you may create for your company. Tell them that you're going to a conference/workshop/etc representing/employed a CANADIAN company. Basically as long as they don't perceive you to be taking work away from an American, all *should* be good. Be honest is all. But definitely ask HR what you should do/say at border crossings and good answers to have on hand. btw, will you be bringing the display booth stuff with you or is someone else doing that ?
  19. Do your girls have friends who could take the cat in ? This way they would still have visits with Kacey. Perhaps float a balloon and see what your girls would say if you suggested you couldn't take care of the cat anymore. This might put the ball back in the ex's court but this might be too much of a game to play though and may not be something you want to contemplate tbh. Hope it all works out for you and your girls...and for the cat.
  20. Man I'm so sorry to read this news Mike. My condolences to your mom and the rest of the family. That trip with your dad will always hold a special spot in your memories and his smile will lift you up when you need it.
  21. Always loved Blue Spruce Resort on Oxtongue Lake (nice bass lake). On the western edge of Algonquin and not too far from Arrowhead. There's wifi so you can maintain your OFC fix as well The Haydens are super great people and Scott is always up for talking about spring flyfishing in the Park.
  22. I just hope he doesn't get his bell rung again as that would pretty well mean he's taking up golfing (or ice fishing) permanently. I would also love to see Howie Meeker guesting during intermissions once in awhile. Hockey is at a crossroads and I'm still waiting for the brain trusts to have *that* epiphany.
  23. That is so very cool of your buddy to do this, he sounds like a well grounded kind of guy. Your son must have been super stoked to have him play his kit and I'm sure he'll be the talk of his school tomorrow !
  24. Years ago first time crossing the Peace, US border guy has me out of the car, into the office and singing O Canada. My colleague was not amused and rather pissed off. Last trip over the Peace this August was fine, just make sure all your paperwork is in order if you're going over to work for a US client. This is a very fine point they will grill you on. My wife 'landed' at Thousand Islands and the border there was painless as well. Guess blondes from Australia don't raise any red flags Did I mention making sure your paperwork is clean ? Good luck
