  1. I'll just sit in the basement staring at my rods and reels and hoping for a fast winter. Maybe sharpen some hooks lol
  2. welcome and nice report and photos ! I presume Lianna enjoyed the trip and will be game for more interior trips ? btw, that portage looks very familiar. was there basically a bog at the end of it leading to another carry ?
  3. There were several long threads about additives etc here recently but I don't have the link so you may have to search the site, try using stabil or seafoam as search terms. I use Red Sta Bil for winter storage and marine for seasonal use. Tank is always filled to the top.
  4. cannot wait to read this TR !!!!
  5. Great photos and it looks like everyone had a stellar week of downtime !
  6. If yer using Mac... -connect iPhone to computer via USB -launch Preview app -File --> "Import from <insert name of phone> -select the ones you want to move -choose or create a destination folder, then hit "Import" or "Import All" This still leaves the photos on the iPhone so you'll need to go in and trim them manually if you want to make room on your device
  7. agree with Mike. I have Fastach clips on my lines for quick changes.
  8. I'd like to try one of the lures out but the price is insane, and I thought LiveTarget frogs were pricey They look great and are handmade but I'd be tossing those with VERY heavy leaders to avoid any breakoffs, esp with pike.
  9. I usually foil it, whole or otherwise. A piece of sage or two inside the belly along with coarse sea salt and butter. Butter and salt on top as well then seal it up and throw her on the grill. Veg of choice have a bath in the juices from the butter and trout.
  10. I think they're hoping to snag the "Buy from a Canadian company" shopper for some part. I was impressed with the tent selection on the floor and they had Esquif canoes (no surprise since it's a Quebec company that makes very good canoes). My guess is that they're also looking to steal a few customers from MEC and I think they will get some who don't feel comfortable with or like the co-op concept. I'll be happy not to have to schlepp to Vaughan or Oshawa
  11. Last pic.. OWWW !!!!!
  12. for family packs of meat and fish... vacuum bags > zip locs
  13. Yup, you know know you've found a good store and staff when they throw small bits of abuse your way but loved to talk shop after they were done Had that at one place in Toronto I liked going to (Skinners, the early days, not later yuppy incarnation). Keith was one guy who liked having some fun. Didn't see him much after he went to Pollacks.
  14. yer probably wise not to name it but I for one would love to know where NOT to go for tackle in the Hammer. Buddy's gonna be thinking about all the money he could have made over the long haul from your friend and kick his own ass. I understand acknowledging regulars and friends but the shop dude obviously needs some help with his interpersonal business skills. Hell, if he were merely an employee, I'd be SOO tempted to go back to the shop and let the manager/boss know how much business he just lost because of the idiot.
  15. wth. why would someone do that ? P3TA ? From what I understand, farmed fish shouldn't socialize with wild stock.
  16. Chainsaw and chipper party !!
  17. yeah, pretty much same here lol. I draw the line at dancing around in circles though
  18. btw, if this is the work of the worm, permits should be super slick to get and I wonder if the city should/ could cover the cost ?
  19. :clapping: way to go !
  20. Had to take down a Norway maple in our backyard that was leaning way too much (and over the car and laneway) and a had a bifurcated trunk. In Toronto at least, if the tree was X diameter at X height, then it needed a permit. If the measurements were < X numbers, one was good to go to remove it. So we hired an arborist to inspect and give a report to the bureaucrats. They were being kinda dickish about it but we got approval. Cost some $ but it beat waiting for the tree to topple during heavy storms. I think dropping this baby privately and sans permit (if you need one) is going to be a problem unless one climbs with a lightweight Echo chainsaw or one has access to a bucket. Much will also depend on your neighbours and whether or not they like the tree and don't want it gone (even if on your property, they could snitch on you if you cut it down without approval=fines) Going "timberrrr" could lead to major headaches.
  21. might wanna try another section, this is the photography sub forum
  22. 68 pages and I'm only on page 7 ! holy crap batman
  23. Excellent ! That is some great exposure ( ha ha) for your daughter and will come in very handy down the road. btw, tell Madison I said Film Rocks (!) and if she bulk loads, I might have some film for her
  24. Was just at Canadian Tire looking around the additives section and saw some new stuff (to me at least). As well as the usual Sta-Bil and Sea Foam products, they also had Sta-Bil Ethanol Treatment. Kinda looked like really weak beer but it's on sale for $6.29 till tomorrow. There was also something called CRC PhaseGuard 4 with Bob Izumi's mug on the bottle endorsing it. Pricey at $16.99 Does anyone have experience with either the Sta-Bil Ethanol or CRC Phase stuff ? Was thinking of Sea Foaming my motor this winter but curious about these two additives as well. I've been using Marine Sta-Bil during boating season and regular red Sta-Bil for winter storage. tia
