I don't know why but I want one of these things ! Wonder if the mechanics are temperamental or tough. Guy has an Aussie accent so I'm presuming it's a tough mother machine. http://www.theglobeandmail.com/globe-drive/car-life/drive-video/video-amphibious-atv-coming-to-a-dealership-near-you/article4613483/

Karma... it is a three way street correct?

That is some seriously good news Wayne ! -
Man, dropping into a half pipe was crazy enough for me back in the day. But to step off into nothing from 120XXX feet is totally off the charts. Hopefully this can lead to technology that can help astronauts who encounter severely adverse situations. It was great to watch his mom's reaction and her immense relief when he came out of the spin and deployed the chute.

the salient points from Topwater's MNR link. "Because your pond has an outflow the laws requiring a licence and the various fishing seasons would apply to your pond. The Ontario Fishery Regulations, which contain the rules for sport fishing in Ontario, apply to all water in the province with the exception of National Parks, waters that are licenced under an aquaculture licence and waters that occur on private lands that meet all of the following conditions: The waters are not on a regional flood plain, The waters lie wholly on privately owned land, The waters are not connected to natural waters, The waters contain water from run-off, springs, ground water or water pumped from a stream or lake; AND The waters have been artificially created."

PD day or skipping class agree with davey, sheltered river might be best option, unless it lines up with the blow

Friends who've played with HDR shot single image raw format. Slider sets images to under and over and use those. Basically same as bracketed shots. These examples are good in that they're not the overdone cartoon looking photos most people do when they dabble in HDR.

"Mongo only pawn, in game of life" a classic movie line... He was great in Blazing Saddles and Victor Victoria, can't say I watched Webster lol

but I get Cabin 9, just saying Been watching property on the West Arm and some seems to just sit there, like the island across from Shuswap. Also some islands near Muskrat for sale and the price (compared to south Ont.) for Memquisit is a steal. I mean c'mon, 294 acres for $2 000 000 ??? In a heartbeat, if I won Lottomax. btw, is there enough current in the Arm to make ice fishing a dicey proposition ?

Has anyone made a small wood stove for their ice hut?
woodenboater replied to chris.brock's topic in General Discussion
I've heard empty (obv) Coleman naptha containers (4l size) have been MacGyvered into stoves. -

DayUm (!!) is all I can say -
Breast up but tent it with foil for most of the process. Also foil the wing tips and legs. Pull tent last half hour or so for golden, browny goodness . We usually stuff sage under the skin at the breast and bird goes on a rack as well.

Bummer about the beef situation and 2x bummer about the hit and miss fishing. Not surprised to hear you liked the place, have friends who've been going there for who knows how long and may try it for a luxe week of r&r. Love the photo of Ralphie (well lots of your photos really) all bundled up looking like he's wondering what happened to summer lol.

Replacing ash gunnels on canoe
woodenboater replied to wildeye rainbow's topic in General Discussion
If it's your inwales that are rotten, consider scuppered gunwales so water can drain out. On my kevlar, the outwale ends are shot but the inwales look dark but are solid. -
Replacing ash gunnels on canoe

go to Noah's Marine for new gunwales. Bring your old one as there are different types with various chamfers. They're west end Toronto up off Islington south of Bloor. I would also use tung oil on them as needed to keep the wood water repellent and looking good. of course, this will be a very long drive for you as I just remembered... -

Indeed, this could have gone wrong is so many ways and I'm amazed it didn't. Makes you wonder if animals have some kind of sixth sense as this moose didn't look *that* nervous around the guy and it almost seemed like it knew what he was trying to do. or it was just so wary and held back. A part of me hopes it wasn't on the wrong end of a later hunt either.

It's like locals rules on surf waves only this fight was nothing by comparison. btw, the narrator sounded a helluva lot like Bill Mason, same slow intonation and all

just checked, no pets unfortunately Rich.

It's not the Lower but how about Moonlight Bay Cottages on the North Channel ? Stayed there a couple of years ago and very nice place. Not sure if it's the same water as Rich's trip to Rainbow (might be separated by rapids/swift). Also looks very 'cast' friendly for boat access. One of the cottages has a private dock, like #11 at Lakair

Schells is strictly seasonal now and has no web presence to speak of. Dropped by during a trip in the area to check it out. Maybe it was me but I felt a very cold shoulder when I asked about camping. How about Hartley Bay Marina ? They have cabins and are on the Lower French.
