  1. I like white or chartreuse spinner baits and crankin raps.
  2. Have a video of Nolan Whitesell open canoeing the lower stretch below Whirlpool I believe. Insanely squirrely, boily water. Bombproof roll mandatory obviously.
  3. yup, pretty much although every now and then I get this crazy idea to ask Giesler if they would customize a boat with casting deck, walk through and camper top. like an aluminum full console but wooden.
  4. I win LottoMax, I'll buy your rents a 1825 Rebel XL
  5. you should drop hints that watching you fish would be much more comfortable for her in a full console Lund
  6. forgot to add I hope things get better re:your eyes
  7. hope you don't mind me taking it and trying some levels on it. can't do much about the sharpness though.
  8. yer lucky to have a mom that loves paddling while her kid washes lures guess you hafta work harder to get her fishing as well eh ?
  9. hate you. my old Trailhead kevlar is 50 lol. if yer in the bow, who's stern, inquiring minds ha ha ?
  10. What didja do with Richmond Hill Fisher, is he on a time out Good luck with the tourney next week and keep those photos coming. btw, Swift Canoe ?
  11. I've spent time at a few resource extraction ops and while they offer job opportunities to First Nation/ Inuit etc.., unless they have some education, they're going to be slinging grub, handling mops etc.. The majority of the well paying jobs will go to imports from south Ont etc.. Not saying it's right or wrong but it's what I saw. Some progressive companies will offer education and training to get more local representation in the higher skill jobs. I will add however that those who were doing menial work, were glad to be working nonetheless. I also don't believe places need to be visited in order to be saved.
  12. Thanks M&S, Can't be any worse than Mountsberg lol. Are they access friendly or would you try the conservation areas ? WB
  13. ah, you been digging through old threads eh
  14. Hey all, Might be in the Thornbury area this long weekend and will be without boat unfortunately. I'm not sure what bass/pike fishing opportunities there are up there so I'm wondering if it's worth bringing my rods. Was thinking perhaps some of the conservation areas might be worth hitting up for a couple of hours. Or should I just hit the Dam Pub instead Don't mind driving a little bit but, maybe half to an hour tops. PM if you want to keep things under the radar. tia WB
  15. I'm curious about this part of the story... "Though the fish had been on ice for 24 hours, since being shipped from a fish farm in Arkansas, when a border official put some of the fish into a bucket of water, the fish came back to life." Unless the shipper and/or importer had full knowledge that the carp could survive and recover from 24+ hours on ice, this may very well have been a major fluke. I have no idea either, what fish can take that much time on ice so am keeping an open mind that someone may have found a work around to getting live carp into the country. Go after shippers and importers and hit them hard in the apple sack if they can be proven to have engaged in illegal importation of live, banned fish. If this is indeed the fourth time this type of activity has been caught, I would like to know if the other cases involved the same fish farm. Googling Fortune Fisheries (the importing company) didn't bring up much as I wanted to see if they've been through this dance before and if this was a strike 2 or 3 for them. tbh, I find the case of the couple that dumped live fish into the Rouge (a proven deliberate act), scarier.
  16. and yet they farm this thing in North America ??? Sounds like a recipe for trouble imo.
  17. Is it making a mess at the start or end of a cast ? Adjust the cast control as danbob suggests, this will tame nests when the lure lands and stops the spool from keeping on. The brake system will need more user involvement to determine brake settings. As well, I believe there are two different brakes for the Curado (green or pinkish/red ones, one is slightly heavier iirc). On my Revo Premier, I'm now going with cast control pretty loose (a tip from young_one) and slowly educating my thumb.
  18. I must have missed you, but at least you were out enjoying today's gorgeous weather. When I rolled in, couple of guys who were done, got into a mess of pike, common thing was they were in canoes or yaks so next time I go, I'll bring my canoe for the hell of it. Interesting thing as I was packing up, I was chatting with one of the conservation workers and he holds his hands apart and says, if you catch any pike this size, KEEP EM ! Guess he/they aren't fond of pike, makes it too tough for the other species in the reservoir I 'spose. Would like to try it again but I'd rather spend my time off somewhere else, like camping on the French or the West Arm (Hi Capt Hooked !)
  19. You were there as well Bill ? I was washing lures from about 11-1 or so ( I was wearing a white Shimano cap). Slow for me as well, pike tossed my crank when he got sight of me but got a decent sized largemouth to make up for it. Think going earlier and a canoe would have upped the count. Lots of vegetation.
  20. Try these people if you have super important, irreplaceable data on that drive. I used them when my iMac went south and they recovered pretty well everything and placed it on a portable drive. Cost, as can be expected, varies depending on how deep you want them to dig. http://www.cbldatarecovery.com/
  21. All I can tell you is a bunch of prop eaters down around Cranes Lochaven, one nasty shoal (waaay off from shore) near the entrance to the North Channel from Wolseley Bay . I understand there are a bunch more that I managed to miss. Thankfully. But yeah, the French River Park map is your best option. As for spare props, that would be a smart move so you don't cut your boating off too early. If you're staying at a lodge, they probably have basic maps noting locations of rocks and shoals.
  22. Do you still have the drive ? Or is it pooched ?
  23. ^ this. I was wondering why someone else had the same avatar as solo...
  24. Split the drive and you should be able to make Friday night easily. Have a great time and look forward to your report !
  25. Fantastic pictures and report there Mike ! Three gen fishing trips must be some of the best times one can have I imagine. Gotta say though, seeing those rapids would make me want to schlepp my whitewater canoes up as well
