Interesting Article - Fish Tagging in Toronto Harbour
woodenboater replied to Nemo's topic in General Discussion
The ELA in n/w Ont was doing similar work on specific lakes in their research area. Saw some graphs and from what I remember, there didn't seem to be a lot of wandering in random patterns, there was usually a traffic pattern of movement. -
#3 just scored potential winner so the jersey has gone up a couple of bucks I'd say

My utmost respect for letting them go instead of chasing records.

nice new water ride. btw, move that Weber kettle a bit and you gain a couple of feet for boat storage -
First I heard of that story Mike, found more info about it here. Something stinks here and wouldn't be surprised to see murder charges brought up. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2322806/Two-Ohio-missing-teen-boys-DEAD-arrested.html

A Ray of Sunshine, and hope for those who still suffer

Congratulations Paul, this is a great story for those still battling the demon bottle. My father in law had serious problems and would often get into heated arguments with my wife over his abuse of said liquor. In the end, it probably lead to his death but he couldn't give up his wine. Think a box of wine before noon type of addiction, it was hard to watch and the family tried their best but you can only do so much. Thankfully you made the right decision and you now get to share your life with a new partner ! Enjoy your new freedom, it's well earned and deserved. -
and I was in NOTL today and didn't notice anything...ha ha
-
They're calling that NOTL ? please, it's more like St. Kitts if anything. No way NOTL proper would go for BPS, the place is all about tourists and the theatre crowd and ain't no way rod and gun would fit in there lol. The Hammer woulda been a better place, or Grimsby but NOTL ??? maybe they're going for the American border shopper...

If the Leafs go all the way, will definitely need backup power for those warm June nights lol. They need to rattle Chara off his game, and Jagr, and Rask... Good start for the Buds, just need to control those stupid turnovers which killed them Monday.

Looking to mine the collected wisdom of the OFC community. I'm looking to get a portable generator and have a few ideas in mind. Needs to be around 60 lbs or under, gasoline and relatively quiet. 2000 watts is probably fine for most needs (might need to power a 5000 btu window a/c unit but not often. This will be schlepped up and back and not left behind at the cabin. Top of the list if I have the money is the Honda EU2000KC2. Yamahas seem to be as popular as the Hondas but maybe more $$. Also see Champions are better priced and reviews look good for the 2000w inverter generator. Is there another brand I'm missing that's reliable and quiet and doesn't cost too much or is it what I'm looking for going to hurt the pocketbook ? tia, WB

ha ha, great story. If there was ever a day for a head mounted GoPro, this would have been it lol. Hope the finger heals up fast there Mike.

What the heck is this place?? When in doubt... Ask OFC!

ya got me curious as I don't even remember seeing that in all my drives along the 401 lol....so I hit google and found this. http://www.power-technology.com/projects/halton-hills-combined-cycle-plant/ -
Beauty and always a great feeling watching a fly getting nailed on a drift into a pool ain't it ?

If this is the Platinum one, that is a fantastic price if one is local to the Forest City. I'd snap that up if I could find that price here.

I too got me brookie streams 20 mins away from my front door!

Very nice ! and agree with others about that first photo. I can't imagine (well I can) what it would have been like on the stream. I prefer solitude or maybe a few other like minded waders and if castor is your company, that's very cool -

Mew has a radio free as well although not sure how well that works out as sound just shoots across the lake/pond. I think the size of Mew and the fact that it's beside the highway make it seem less desirable. I really like it and it has access to several trails in close proximity and a field full of blueberries just waiting to be picked... and there's the 'waterfall/rapids' on the Madawaska that makes for nice summer lounging -

If you go to Algonquin, my suggestion would be to pass on Rock Lake. It has some great attributes but there are enough noisy campers to make it very annoying. Mew or Two Rivers would be good choices (more so Mew) although Two Rivers is very wide open with pretty well zero privacy. -

Never camped at Craigleith myself but friends have and now avoid the place like the plaque. Noisy campers is all she remembers. ymmv. +1 on Oastler, Awenda and Killbear. Although it's on the edge of your driving circle, I'd look into Arrowhead. Haven't camped there but from my winter visits there, it looks alike a nice campground and it's close to Huntsville if the family needs a break -

Toronto Terror Attack thwarted - NF
woodenboater replied to jedimaster's topic in General Discussion
It bears mentioning that it was a tip from the Muslim community (I heard it was an Imam) that started this investigation so please keep this mind when talking about immigration and the Muslim community. I believe the vast majority of the Muslim in Canada condemn these types of acts and indeed want to live a peaceful, stressful life here. Terrorism isn't necessarily about body count imo, but about creating fear. Paranoia would be one of the goals I would think, like getting people spooked about riding trains for starters. -
The final drop at Burleigh has some rebar from what I've been told by people who've paddled it. Some nice waves upstream of the last drop though.
