  1. Great intro and welcome. By the looks of it you'll have some super pics to share!
  2. pm sent
  3. Lots of great tips and advice. Best of luck in NC. Be sure to stay with us so next winter you can tease us with summery fish pics!
  4. Nothing more exciting than watching two guys fishing a northern lake catching 2lb walleye that look like they came out of a photo copy machine. Oh! good one!!! It's identical to the other 50 you caught!!!!!! Zzzzzzz
  5. Does your Enclave have a transmission cooler? Will you have the boat loaded with goods you're moving with you? Watch the weight! That'll add quick to the stress over that distance. As far as selling vs taking it with you, that's tough to say, depends on the boats current age and value. If your moving there, I'll assume you're going to be working there and getting paid in USD. If not, and you'll be buying a boat with converted cash from CDN dollars, bad idea. You'd be selling in CDN and buying in USD - wrong direction! Where you going btw? Wait until Trump get elected and you'll get a good deal on a house from the people moving to Canada! LOL
  6. Those St. Lawrence musky can get huge...just imagine adding a daily dose of omega-3 to their diet. LOL
  7. Art have you seen that new woven material Ranger is putting in their new boats? Apparently washes down nicely and it's not slippery.
  8. Next time I see a sock floating in the lake, I'll know exactly why. God knows I'll never remember to take it off!
  9. Dead On Dock Guts Everywhere ?
  10. True, but it's their volume that covers their overhead. If it wasn't, they wouldn't build 300,000+ sqft stores, carry that inventory and hire accordingly. They sell some product cheaper than small stores can buy it. I know, I've seen it. But hey, that's ok, it's business and if I had a store that big, I'd want to have my inventory turns as high as possible too.
  11. That does not surprise me. Big Box charges what they can, not what they should. What is their markup given their buying power and they charge more that Grimsby Tackle??
  12. Try, "hold on I have to find my wallet", then put down the phone and go back to watching TV.
  13. They do have some goods deals and I'm all for a deal. As far as my earlier comment, it was 100% tongue in cheek. They're just people making an honest living and I can think of worse places to work. If I forget, I'll just read my resume.
  14. LOL I caught my PB pike up near GB while walleye fishing. Just shy of 14lbs...8 lb mono and a 1/4oz jig and minnow. $#!^ luck haha
  15. I hope there's a special place in hell for people that scam innocent people. Couldn't you just punch the guy in the mouth? LOL
  16. Close call! For $40 you may have been walking around today with the "Roolin Scones"?? on ya! BTW, do you pay by the hour of seat time or a quoted completed price?
  17. Some good tips on deadsticking smallies. That is a very effective big fish method on all great lakes tournaments. I can't say I agree with the finesse comment. If I'm targeting bass, which is almost all the time, I'm not going to use bulky line in case I hook a pike. Plus, 20 lb line would necessarily save you regardless. I'll gladly catch more bass in exchange for a maybe getting bit off. I lived up there and fished GB 3 times a week for 16 years. In gin clear water it absolutely 100% makes a difference if you use thinner fluorocarbon. On Erie, which is also extremely clear, many guys have gone done to 6 lb because it means more hooks ups and there is no structure to get hung up on once they're hooked. Use what makes you happy, but finesse fishing is real.
  18. BPS and Sail are knowledge free all this week. Oh, and next week too.
  19. I'd go 6lb if there water is "clean". If there is logs, brush piles, zebra mussels, etc. go up to 8 or even 10 if it's real messy.
  20. Hahaha good one.
  21. I like fish, but I like me better. Lol Luke, crazy good detail pal.
  22. Personally, though the VMC spinshot hooks can eliminate some line twist, I prefer tying hooks direct. The less knots the better IMO. Dropshotting is versatile no doubt. Ever tried flipping docks with a dropshot? Use a 1/2 to 3/4 weigh and have your creature about 12" up. You can flip it in and LEAVE it there for as long as you like without the bait burying itself in the weeds/mud. Stays up in the strike zone like a neutral buoyancy bait.
  23. Yup. Sad day when a Leaf fan is too disinterested to mock the Sens. Oh well, we're right where we should be to give us the 20% shot at first pick. It's going to take a long time to turn this ship around so no use getting hyped up about anything. If Edmonton gets first pick, I'm done forever! Lol
  24. Go to a shop(s) and play with multiple units of both brands on demo mode. This will not replicate on the water performance but it'll give you an idea of which layout you prefer. Your personal satisfaction of the performance difference between the units will depend more on you than the units. I know fellows with $2500 units that never take time to learn them (either brand) and then blame the graph. It's a very competitive market with no secrets between HB and Lowrance. Try to look past some of the myths you'll read posted and just buy one you feel comfortable with. That way you'll invest the time up front to understand it and maximize its usefulness for your style of fishing.
  25. You and your wife have gone down a path that any other parent would dread and, you've done it with class and dignity. The example you've set for class under pressure should be one we all aspire to. It also creates a true perspective of what is, and is not, worth worrying about. Thank you for sharing with us and I wish you and Leah peace and happiness.
