Aplumma, I tried that last night. I turned on the wipers, heard the motor turning and got out of the truck and wiggled the wiper arms back and forth. They were very solid with little or no play in them. Your suggestion re the motors gears sound logical... but I can't understand why they worked the next day if there's a bad spot on the gear or why a "good" spot on the gear didn't catch last night? I'm confused? HH
-
Hey Raf, no they seem to be very solid and un-moveable. I to thought it might be the linkage, but if it was the linkage, I thought that it wouldn't be intermittent as well. I'm sure the motor is working, I can hear it! Also, failed to mention that I had the switch (on the turn signal) replaced about a year ago, so I'm pretty sure it's not that. Thanks , HH Anyone else?

Got a message from a friend of yours Rich... apparently they are feeling shunned and have moved on to greener pastures... signed, WGSP!

The windshield wipers on my 96 Jimmy have been playing games with me lately. They some times work and other times when I turn them on, I hear the motor working, but the wipers don't move. I've tried given them a yank, but that doesn't work either. An example; I went out last night, just a light mist on the windshield. Tried the wipers, no go (heard the noise thought). This morning, started up the truck and turned on the wipers and away they go! Now, I like to think of myself as a fairly adventurous guy, but I really need more consistant wipers, especially with winter coming. Anyone have any suggestions for me? With my luck, I'll take it in to get looked at and the darn things will be working fine! Thanks in advance. HH

What's Everybody Doing In Between Fall And Winter Season
Headhunter replied to eic's topic in General Discussion
Praying to the weather gods to keep Quinte free of ice until atleast January (long term forecast for Southern Ontario is calling for a warming trend in about a week's time. ) Also, coming up with valid reasons not to go ice fishing when it's really cold and entertaing the family! HH -
That should open up some space on Adolphus for sure!!! Thanks for posting! If you are still going to venture down there this weekend... don't forget to bring the; Kitty littler for the ramp Lotsa warm clothes Many pairs of gloves And a shovel, for the boat and the ramp! (not to mention gravol) LOL HH
-
Great pics and report! I can't believe how calm Quinte has been in the last few weeks! It looks like a mill pond in the background of those shots. Wondering if you happen to recall the water temp when you were there? Thanks, HH
-
Lookin forward to a few more trips to BoQ in the coming weeks and hoping the ice holds off there until january! Let the snow fly, the freezing rain, what ever, as long as the "Q" dosen't freeze! It's only now, beginning to get "good"! HH

A Song That Makes You Think Of Fishing?

Suishi Girl -The Tubes Green River - CCR Highway to Hell - AC/DC, FishnSled caught his PB last year as soon as the guitar riff started! HH -
Speeding on a highway, does NOT kill the highway...potentially only the speeding car and or other drivers. That's why we have laws... I think the comparison speaks for it's self! HH

I also observed those guys at Merlands cleaning up those double digits. DouG was there chatting with them and I wandered over for a look. When I was there, they had 4 hens on the choppin block, all double digits. As I had lost my voice that day, all I could do was whisper and I asked them "are you guys gonna eat those fish?" and the reply was "well I'm not filletting them for practice". Based on what I could see, they were within their rights to keep the 4 fish, there were four guys standing there all smiles slaughtering four of the bay's finest. They were obviously from "outta province" so I asked them if they had big fish like those where they come from and they laughed and said no, to which I responded "well we won't have any left here if you guys keep keeping fish like these." They only smiled and kept cutting... I know myself and FishnSled were pretty "DISAPPOINTED" that they did what they did, but as I said, it appeared that they "were within their rights". I see it every year, I bugs the crap outta me, but their's nothing we can do as long as the reg are, what the regs are. BTW - I don't have a problem with an angler keeping a trophy for the wall, most guys will only keep one, in their lifetime so it's ok with me, but pure meat hunting.... it's sad! And to make matters even more rediculus, those fish (any Quinte walleye) TASTE LIKE CRAP! HH

Only my boss/partner Roy... She's working from home today!LOL HH

Another suggestion... take up the guitar! The more circulation you have in your hands, the warmer they'll feel and playing guitar will push more blood to your hands! (And the girls like it too!) HH

Just walked past the "ladies room" and there's some serious scrubbing up goin on in there! Sorry guys, didn't bring the camera today... but I will when the bathing suits arrive in a coupla weeks! HH LOL Wayne! ***All the guys in the office are having sudden urges to stay hydrated today... the water cooler is just down the hall from the board/interview room... 1st five are being interviewed right now! God I'm thirsty!
-
The "Warden" knows... just shakes her head! I'll see what I can do for yah when they do the bikini thing in a few weeks! HH Office is located at Yonge and Dundas... I may have time to "interview" some folks here at the office this afternoon... for a minimal fee! HH
-
You know, there are some benefits to working in downtown Toronto! The office I work out of is a shared executive envirnoment (We rent an office space in a much larger office environment) and one of the other clients in our space is .... The Miss Universe Canada Pagent! Well, our collective receptionist just informed me that they will begin the "interview" process at 3:00 today for contestants for the 2007 Miss Universe pagent. This has been going on here for the last 4 years I've been working here and the best is yet to come!!! First, they interview them, create a short list then, they have the bathing suit competition in a couple of weeks... in the board room, two doors down from me!!! I recall a couple of years ago, they had to teach one of the girls (eventually worn the Miss Universe Canada pagent) how to walk in heels! Oh... did I mention she was in a bikini walking the halls for a couple of hours... didn't get much work done that day! Guess I'm gonna have a good start to the weekend! Cheers! HH

I agree with everyone above, go to the doc/emerg asap... you only get one set of peepers! My kids beat the crap outta me everyday (3 and 4 1/2 years old) and both can't find anything I ask them to find, but can nail me square everytime, without lookin! HH
-
What, you couldn't find a shore spot that held any big fish!!! Seriously, some really nice fish there! There's a bunch of Quinte guys who are currently hanging around in front of your house, waiting to follow you where ever you go!!! Great report... I'm already losing sleep over it! HH

"I'm the just the cook", is what I tell people. My wife "cooks" once every three months, whether we need to eat or not!!! I'm not what you'd call a fussy eater, as a matter of fact, exactly the opposite, but with my wifes culinary skills being very limited (you can only eat boiled pasta with bottled sauce and melted cheese so many times) I've taken on the task for the last oh... 22years! I BBQ year round and can and will cook just about everything and anything. I don't follow recipies, I my opinion, they are for those who lack imagination, but I do watch the food channel alot, to get ideas. I've been told I'm pretty good at it (Ask FishnSled how he ate at the Quinte GTG) and enjoy doing it. But I think I enjoy knowing that it's gonna be good when I do it more than actually doing the cooking. I figured that on an average week, I cook nine meals, for four people... equals 36 meals per week. I'm also the cook for boy's get aways... holy crap... I'm a catch! Best Steelhead Fishing Day Ever With My Grandpa! (lots Of Pics)
Headhunter replied to Minnow's topic in General Discussion
Awesome story, great pics and some really nice fish! Thanks for posting such a wonderful read. My guess... your Grampa is the proudest guy on the planet right now! Congrats, HH -
Thanks for that! Everyone at the office got a chuckle outta that one!!! HH

Difficult to say with impunity... I've had some smallish fish that I thought were double digits and the opposite as well. Really can't generalize, but i can say that I've had some biggins that I couldn't move off the bottom and when they finally arrived at the boat, they took off like their rear end was on fire. HH

When cold weather fishing, I carry atleast three pairs of gloves, thin ones for fishing, ski gloves when it starts to get really cold and snowmobile gloves when travelling.Oops... make that four pairs, I like the wool cut offs as well. I rotate what I wear, based on need and what's dry. HH - the fish whisperer!

Get Together Suggestions For Next Time!
Headhunter replied to irishfield's topic in General Discussion
After obseving the festivities around the camp fire on the weekend, I think it might be a good idea to have a Dry GTG.... so more of us can actually make it out on the water the day after the night before!!!LOL... yah right! Seriously... if all that attended or meant to attend were able to get all their poop in one place, we could have had Merlands to ourselves and not spread everyone across and around the GPA (Greater Picton Area) I would have had a chance to meet othersand swapped stories! HH aka the fish whisperer! -
Looks like a lot of potential for new foot ware there! HH
