WGSP are fine table fair, under the right conditions. As mentioned, it has mainly to do with the water they are coming from. They are also, one of the first fish to become parasite hosts, with many having those little black specks in them, that so many of us find so appetizing! I usually scale them, fillet and into the grease they go... clean Rockies are great eating! HH

Same here Will... maybe they didn't pay the bill at work! HH

Art, well said... to the others who have obviously not ever taken out a charter, have not worked a charter and have no insight into the business... you have shown you ignorance on the topic... perhaps you should hold back your comments, until you've actually experienced it! Every charter I've been on I have seen how hard they folks work and have seen the cash outlay they have made in order to provide the customers with the best possible fishing experience. Funny, I have a good buddy who charters and he tells me his business is driven mainly by the good folks south of the border, mainly because Canadians just can't wrap their head around paying to go fishing... which seems to be verified by many on this thread. HH PS... I for one certainly prefer the $150,000.00 boat, when I'm out on Lake O in 5 footers!

The cost of doing business is huge in chartering and I'm not at all surprised by the numbers provided by the folks on this thread. It's a competitive business and customers will demand the $150k boat and all the bells and whistles. And, if your chartering on any of the big lakes, you need those tools! As far as tipping is concerned, I have to agree with what most have said... 10-20% doesn't seem unreasonable. HH

Did anyone else notice that the refs seemed to have become fans with the best seat in the house? Man, there were un-called penalties from the 10 minute mark of the third until the end of the game. Now, before you all come down on me for that statement, I prefer a wide open game, but holy clutch, grab, hold, trip... dude that scored the tying goal took a cross check to the head right after it went in... Looking forward to 7 games and watchin Gary Roberts carry the cup again... I'll just pretend he's wearing a leaf uniform under his Penns jersey! HH

Cranksbait is correct... my wife's cousin lived in Jasper for 30 years and never left the house for a trip in the woods without her bells! She is an avid climber and most times, spent her time alone on the mountain. The most dangerous thing one can do with bears is catch them by surprise, it will put them in defense mode very quickly. Carrying bells with you lets the bear hear you well before you encounter it face to face and they will tend to run away before you even knew they were there. HH

I'd recommend equipping the kids with bear bells... they will certainly help keep them away, but pepper spray will help as well. HH

Great report, nice pics! Thanks for that... but the dude holding them carp close to his chest is gonna have problems with; - any future female attraction! -cleaning bill -smelling like Kensington Market on a nice July day! HH

My thoughts exactly Raf... nice catch = nice pike bait! LOL HH

In my past lives fishin carp, it's been my experience that when they are active as you described, they're getting in spawning mode. It is very difficult to get them to bite anything when they are tearing up the shore line etc... my only success for them when they are like that, is to move to another area, in relative close proximity. with access to deeper water. I believe that that area, acts somewhat as a holding area for them and they will tend to bite. As mentioned, if you can see them, they can see you and they will not bite. Try seeking out slower water deeper water areas relatively near where you are seeing active carp spawning and you may do better... also, crawlers may be a better alternative at this time of year. HH

Miller Out To Lunch....TO Banning Gun Ranges & Warehouses
Headhunter replied to CLofchik's topic in General Discussion
Lundboy... I don't think Miller or any of his croney's are anywhere near smart enough to be doing that on purpose... however I will no argue that they may well be being manipulated by higher forces.... the dude's just not smart enough to come up with that! LOL HH -
Who's the lucky sod who gets to collect the stuff?! And better yet, how the heck do they know when the Muskie needs to go! LOL I wonder what marshmellows would do to a muskie's system? Fiber fiber fiber! HH

Miller Out To Lunch....TO Banning Gun Ranges & Warehouses
Headhunter replied to CLofchik's topic in General Discussion
I would hazard a guess that vehicles kill and injure more people in the GTA than guns do, by far! The carnage on the roads is quite scary! Well, that idiot Miller would like us all to park our cars anyway. The carnage that takes place every weekend in the entertainment district is mainly knife based, very little guns by comparison... I guess if Miller had his way, I'd be cutting my steak with chop sticks! (sorry, meat is bad, I meant tofu!) This entire topic is simply yet another way for these left wing morons to take more control away from us, making us the sheep they want us to be! To bad we can't ban morons! HH -
Miller Out To Lunch....TO Banning Gun Ranges & Warehouses
Headhunter replied to CLofchik's topic in General Discussion
Miller and his band of communists will do or say anything to get more bleeding heart leftist "city-it's" to follow him. I wonder how many of these morons have actually been outside of the borders of the GTA? Can't recall the last time I read about someone being shot at a gun club... hey, maybe they should make a few selected areas of Toronto "gun clubs" , that would at least make them safe! HH -
Number 14 Dave Keon! The man could and did do everything for the team! HH

Joey, those numbers are way off the mark! I'm sure that with some investigation, you could do much better than that! HH

Mortgage insurance is transferable to another property, should you decide to move. It is calculated based on your age at the original time of taking out the insurance, the only flexible part is the amount owed on your second mortgage... the calculation rate is based on your age at the time of the original insurance... clear as mud!LOL My example: Bought my first house in 1994, took out the mortgage insurance at that time. The rate charged was based on my age at that time. When we bought our new house last spring, the rate charged for mortgage insurance was based on my age back in 1994, with the increase in mortgage amount being the increasing rate factor. There were a number of times in my old house, when I thought that since it was almost paid off, I'd just kill the Mortgage insurance... but was advised that if I was considering moving, to keep up the payments as the rate would be taken from the original time of insuring (1994). Don't know if this helps, but what the heck! HH
-
Hey Joey and Paul... congrats on the new house! I have been paying mortgage life insurance since I bought my first house... it was transferable to my new home with a slight monthly increase to reflect the increased value of my new home. I seriously considered canceling that insurance when I was close to paying off my old house, but was convinced to keep it as the rate calculated was based on my age at the time of originally taking out the mortgage insurance. We are paying about $35.00 /month for what I believe to be piece of mind... should anything happen to myself or my wife, at least I know that they will have a roof over the heads! A life insurance policy will cover many costs, but with the cost of funerals today, I personally think that mortgage insurance is a valuable product to me and my family. If your mortgage is not a big one, say under $50k... then insurance may not be for you... but if it's a large one and you know that those you may be leaving behind will be hard pressed to meet the obligation.... money well spent, in my opinion! HH

Bernie... Will's not at all like me... he's actually a really nice guy! LOL Worth the drive Will, just probably not by boat! HH

I'm pretty sure I knew that Glenn... just thought that perhaps Mike the Pikes pic of him holding that Kitty might inspire you to new levels catch holding prowess! HH
