http://www.myspace.com/thechickenfoot Probably one of the few albums I can say that I am eagerly awaiting the arrival of... Satriani.... We're not worthy! HH

Well, a good example in my mind is politicians. Can anyone honestly say that we have the best minds in the counrty, in these very powerful positions? The best minds in politics now, are generally people who have succeeded in private business and have no real need for money. Atleast to my mind, that would be ideal. Bringing those talents to the public sector IMHO can only benefit the public. Salary should be commensurate with accomplishments. I guess I have a different perspective on things as in my day to day work, I have the opportunity to work with some of the very best at what they do and yes, by in large, they are handsomely paid. But when you equate the value they bring to their organizations, they are worth every penny. Now, I'm not saying that we are getting value for money spent, but I don't think you need th change the system, just the players. We are afterall in a suedo capitalist society. HH
-
Well, I'm two minds on this... 1. In order to attract a talent level capable of managing an enterprise like hydro or what ever, you have to pay competitve salary's to the private sector. Personally, I would rather have a highly educated, qualified individual running these corporations, than a low paid person, attemping to do the job. Now, before you all get high and mighty on me, I'm not say we are getting value for our money, I'm just saying that those types of positions carry a very high profile and mistakes can cost us, the public a great deal of time, money and well crap! Public corps have to compete with the private sector to get the best talent. 2. WE ARE NOT GETTING OUR MONEY'S WORTH! I don't think I would have a problem with those high salaries if we were getting our money's worth. Mis-management and government tinkering has made many of these public corps disfunctional. HH

How many rods can you troll on lake O?

I understand that the pics are that of (Hamilton?) Steve and has been doctored. What I will say to all who think that kind of spread is unmanageable... it most certainly is! Assuming there are three folks in real life in that boat(to manke it legal) , that spread, done properly is more than manageable and one of the first folks who I would say could set it up and manage it would be (Hamilton) Steve. John, As I mentioned in my earlier post, consider the Napoeon and a huge plus 1 to what Pidgeonfisher said... My Vermont castings , approaching 10 years old still functions as it did day one. The ignitor still works, BBQ fires up first click. None of my burners leak, period. I can use the whole grill, I don't have to seek out hot or cold spots. It's big enough that I can feed 20 to 30 people at a time, but has consistant and even heat throughout the grill. It's expensive, but as Wayne mentioned, it's not the sort of thign everybody needs... if you only BBQ a few times a month, buy a cheapie, but you already mentioned that you BBQ alot, so the investment is worth it. Once you have ruined a few me3als, you'll see the advantage of a premium grill. Again, Napoleon, Ducane are two I highly recommend. I wandered through a Napoleon dealer on the weekend... some really nice grills in the $1500.00 to $2000.00 range... and be sure to check out the warranty they provide on the burners etc... HH

Sad to see friends go, it happens and is part of life. I believe that the loyalty that they have shown you and the family business, is a direct reflection fo the treatment that those employees have been given by their employer. I hope things work out well for yah Bernie... and I too just love looking at those boats! HH

I don't know Wayne, Dano was probably pretty stressed when you guys had to wake him up to catch that Pickereye! HH

I won't be able to express my feelings on this as it is a family oriented board! I will suggest though, that the money they are going to give those who's combined family income is below $160,000.00 will be deemed as taxable income, so based on your salary, expect to pay alot of it back. Combine this new tax with the City of Torontos cumlative taxes on it's residents and I won't be surprised if down town Toronto starts to look like Detroit in the not so distant future. HH PS.. I have heard Premier "Norman Bates" say multiple times to the media that this new blended tax will be "good for Ontario", but to date, I have not heard specifically how it will be good. Once again, great sales job your doing Premier Doink!

Is florocarbon leader REALLY better than mono leader?
Headhunter replied to okumasheffield's topic in General Discussion
In the big picture of things, I don't think it makes a difference... if it did, commercial netters would not have nets full of fish to pull up. If line spooked fish, they wouldn't swim head first into 100lb plus mono net strung arcoss the river or lake. HH -
The Barbie rod has a molded handle that well, I probably can't put down either... I don't balme ya one bit Gerritt! HH

Hi folks, I have a client of mine who has taken an interest in the outdoors. He has no experience in the outdoors and is eager to learn things like survivalist training, etc. Does anyone know who he could get in contact with? Are there individuals or company's I could suggest to him. Appreciate your consideration! HH

Happy B-day bud! Like the cake pic, too bad there's a big ugly mug ruining the picture! LMAO HH

Thanks Wayne! You may be holding the net for a long long time! LOL HH

Lending a net is no diffferent to me than helping someone stuck in a snow drift, out on Simcoe. You help because it's the right thing to do... you lend your net for the same reasons. If you don't, well, the Karma gods will find you. If you don't want to lend it out, why not net it for them yourself? I guess I'm a little more open to helping others then some here. If yah lent your net and it comes back broken, you got no one to blame but yourself. If you help them land the fish, you may end up with a friend, future fishing partner etc... to my mind, that's worth a heck of a lot more than the value of a net. HH

Can't help you with the trip G, but I do know that they have tons of lemons down there! HH

Here's my 2 cents! I BBQ probably 100 to 150 days a year, you name it, I do it one the BBQ. About 9 years ago, I got tired of replacing burners in my cheap Broil Mate. I did some research and found that one of the keys to a good BBQ is it's abilty to provide steady, consistant and even heat across the grill. I bought a Vermont Castings and am still running it today. The BBQ is virtually all porceline enamelled, the grills, cover and body. The grills themselves are cast iron coated with porcelin... I have never had and cracking, flaking etc... and I cook all year round. Like anything you buy, by in large, you get what you pay for. Quality parts cost more, it's pretty simple. The Big Green Egg is an awesome cooking machine, but it requires a lot of planning as like any charcoal burner, it takes time. One should also consider the warranty available on your next BBQ. My brother bought a Napoleon grill 12 years ago. About two years ago, he had a leaky burner. He called the shop he bought it at and they said they would send someone over to take a look... now remember, this was 9 or 10 years AFTER HE BOUGHT IT. He came home from work a few days later and noticed his BBQ wasn't where he left it... took a look and what did he find... the repair guy have replaced the burner, cleaned up the whole BBQ and no bill! That's service folks and you can be sure that the next BBQ he buys will be a Naploeon. Ducane makes a fabulous grill, they are just hard to find. I see there are many Weber fans here, personally, I won't have one! For the price, I can do much better with a Napoleon. Webers feel cheap to me, flimsy, thin metal and just plain cheap. Remember the key to a great grill is heat retention and I just can't see that happening with their thin cheap metal. IMHO! I wouldn't buy a BBQ without a side burner and I won't buy a BBQ that isn't natural gas. Many above have already mentioned the pain of propane tanks. My V.C has a side burner (corn in the summer!!!!), an infrared rotiseriery (sp) back burner and an "overn" burner. All have their applications, all get their use... don't discount anything, until you have tried it! Good luck... but think NAPOLEON! HH

Simply, you can't teach heart! I watched the game Saturday night, Montreal had no heart and no desire to fight for what they wanted. Kovalev does not seem interested in going past, playing through the motions and as we have seen in the past, how Kovalev goes, so goes the Habs. No heart, no wins! HH

It sounds to me that you have made a good decision. One dealer was interested in providing a level of service and the other was simply moving a product. As for the above statement, I find it rather insulting to the O.P. who only asked a valid question. He did not ask for the extra's, they were thrown in as the O.P. is a customer. A customer who will network with friends and a customer who will recommend this service to friends and aquaintences. Suggesting that the O.P. requires someone to bait his hook, to me and in my humble opinion in bad taste and well, offensive. Now excuse me while I go looking for someone to bait my hook! HH

Awe, man, imagine my disapointment when I thought I read "Two red heads go fishing" only to see those less than attractive non red heads in the pics! Thanks for the report... please try to read my mind better in the future! HH

I have heard that the rain last weekend did some pretty bad things to the ice. Any cracks should be avoided as the run off from the rain, really hit the cracks hard. Be careful out there and yah, this weekend will be pretty busy with folks gettin their shacks off the ice by midnight! HH
